QUOTE(kelvin_hata @ Apr 20 2012, 09:12 AM) Good job.One suggestion: Instead of reusing the original metal heat spreader, try look for a piece of aluminium or copper block about the same thickness as the heat spreader, to pad it before attaching the HSF. Reason because there is a gap between die and heat spreader, and thermal compound not good to transfer heat at that gapping distance. Thermal compound is good for direct contact only. I'm just saying there is room for improvement. One reason why Tj is hotter compared to hand touch on HSF, because it takes a long time for the Tj to reach heatsink. Thermal gradient is still very high. Heat transfer seems to be very bad, still. What I have done, is fill up the internal of heatspreader with oil instead. A bit messy, but definitely improves the heat transfer. |

Didn't get a chance to clock this yet. When customer returns it for photoshoot, we will see how well it clocks. This thing uses dual MCP355 and delta is only about 4-6C.
![]() IB is a lost cause for serious over-clockers (non LN2). I still much prefer SB for overclocking. Recently acquired a huge batch of Costa Rica 2500k. Also got a few Costa Rica 3770k but noticed that just about all IB still get stuck around 4.6-4.7 on 2 x 120mm rad. Even with serious watercooling system, without a really good chip, it's still going to be stuck around this clock speed. The chances of hitting over 5ghz is better on SB. |

I'm not sure whether i'm posting in the right thread or not. please let me know if i post in the wrong thread. There is question for me to ask:-
Have anyone try to over clock ati graphic cards? when i open easy tune 6, my graphic tab gray out. And also, when i try to use catalyst to overclock it, the "performance" tab has disappeared after i click on "accept". simply, it means the system not allow me to overclock/ alter my graphic card clock speed. have anyone experiences these situation before? please help me. Note: Previously, i tried to use the catalyst setting to overclock my GPU in my friend's computer and it works. wondering why it won't allow me to overclock in my current rig. my PC specs: Motherboad: GA-z77X-D3H CPU: i5 3750k GPU: ATI HD 4830 Catalyst version: 12.4 Window 7 Ultimate 64 bit This post has been edited by ksyuen: Jun 17 2012, 10:20 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

For ET6 (B12.0525.1) you must have installed Intel® Management Engine Interface(MEI) Driver 8.xx and Intel® INF Driver 9.xx.

just join the club..
i5-3570K,Asrock Z77 Professional M,Vengeance 1333MHz 8GB,H70 now using stock only, just set up my rig.... so far temp idle initial cores varies 37~38c only but CPU temp is 52c i've gone thru 26 pages of this topic..normal isn't it? wonder if OC 4.6GHz how high will it be? *ram i revert from 1600 to 1333MHz coz CEX no stock for Vengeance LP 1600MHz coz my clearance in TJ-08E only 54mm....will it hold me back to OC cpu to 4.6GHz? QUOTE(huzzLEE_82 @ Jun 21 2012, 12:52 PM) just join the club.. Looks more or less same as others. Ambient/room temp also will affect the core temp.i5-3570K,Asrock Z77 Professional M,Vengeance 1333MHz 8GB,H70 now using stock only, just set up my rig.... so far temp idle initial cores varies 37~38c only but CPU temp is 52c i've gone thru 26 pages of this topic..normal isn't it? wonder if OC 4.6GHz how high will it be? *ram i revert from 1600 to 1333MHz coz CEX no stock for Vengeance LP 1600MHz coz my clearance in TJ-08E only 54mm....will it hold me back to OC cpu to 4.6GHz? IB is hot due to bad TIM used between the IHS and the die so heat dessipation is not as efficient and effective as it should be. Depends on what vcore it consumes every chip is different. My dud 3570K @ 4.5GHz hit 90C+ under water powered by two triple rads. That was when stressed with AVX-enabled LinX on win7 SP1. For non stress 24/7 4.6GHz was fine without throttling (speed reduction when reaching TJmax of 105C). Btw, I heard Maximus V Formula (Thunderbolt and non TB edition) is supposed to hit our market within these few days i saw some resellers already put it in their price list. Extreme model - no ETA yet |
