QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jun 26 2012, 06:57 AM)
Hello folks. I'm in need of serious help.

My HD5870 is plagued with problems like game crashing and screen turning white/grey/black/blue/red and becomes unresponsive as a result (sound still on)

I managed to solve the game crashing issue by reducing memory clock which greatly helped in stabilizing the card but the white screen problem (when not gaming) is still persistent.

One website mentioned about GSOD:
http://www.overclock.net/t/650900/gray-scr...ated-w-solution

Anthrr link http://www.tomshardware.com/news/ATI-Radeo...Crash,9529.html

So how do I overclock my CPU now? Which program should I use and what voltages are safe?

Specs (in my siggy): i5-3450(no cpu cooler), HD5870, 500W PSU

Please help notworthy.gif

I think the OCN thread has explained enough the GSOD issue so if still persist then that sounds like a card problem. Send it for RMA. nod.gif
i5 3450 has a locked multiplier with turbo up to 3.9 only hence at such a low clock it should run fine at stock vcore.
OC in BIOS settings. You're asking the wrong person about safe voltage - check out first post for basic notes.

3450
You can set turbo multiplier up to 39x althou Intel specs is 35x
Max BCLK depends on CPU & mobo
Hwbot record for 3450 is 4.2GHz

Every chip is different. Tried 4GHz @ auto vcore stable? If not then raise it, not stable raise it until stable so I guess that's an easy job.

Pls proceed to the appropriate thread for SB aka 2500K/2600K/2700K.

Added on April 21, 2012, 9:30 amNoticed that CPU-Z shows 1.2V but mobo shows 1.44V? Something is just wrong and a bios update must be coming

He is using a 3570K, which is totally different from your CPU the 2500K; although the same mobo.
Now you need to increase the vcore until you get away from the BSOD.

Added on July 3, 2012, 10:37 amOr set vcore to 1.3v, then test with LinX/Prime95/3DM Vantage CPU test
If stable then try lower vcore like 1.29v, 1.27v and so on until you get the lowest vcore stable at that speed
Good luck! biggrin.gif

Don't mind if I ask, have you tried this CPU with 2c2t before?
What's the lowest vcore required to complete a 32M run at 5GHz?

Yo bro... 5GHz 2c2T lowest vcore i tried was 1.38v to complete 32m. 5GHz 4c8t is no go on 3D. Cooling limit & it loves voltage. sad.gif

Gonna get another 2pcs of 3770K & MVF tommorow hopefully better than the current chip.

I see, better than mine ( 1.44v) tongue.gif

Good luck in binning. In case you're not know yet, try look for 3218 costa rica chip.
Was told there are many golden chips come from that batch icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for sharing bro... Will look into this goldies.
The chip which I'm looking for is not only low VID, it must have a good IMC to do 2800+ mem as well. (greedy) biggrin.gif
Somehow I think I got problem with my luck, need to go temple pray2 mandi bunga first before buying CPU. sweat.gif doh.gif
Looking forward to seeing your CPU kissing 7GHz on subzero drool.gif drool.gif

Ivy bridge seems to release a lot of heat compare to Sandy...

just got my 3570k for few weeks, oc it to 4.0 with stock cooler.
prime test for few minutes, the temp reach around 90 already.
any sifu got ways to step down the temp?
tried step down the PLL to the Min and offset vol to +0.005v only, yet the heat... oh mai..

btw, my mobo is Asrock Extreme4 Z77

If you don't mind voiding Intel warranty, might consider to remove the IHS and reapply a 3rd party TIM such as Arctic MX-4 like THIS
I believe you could squeeze out about 10C off those core temps.
I myself will definitely delid it after I found a golden chip. biggrin.gif
Now start aiming for 5GHz 4C8T @ 1.3x notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
