Hello folks. I'm in need of serious help.

My HD5870 is plagued with problems like game crashing and screen turning white/grey/black/blue/red and becomes unresponsive as a result (sound still on)

I managed to solve the game crashing issue by reducing memory clock which greatly helped in stabilizing the card but the white screen problem (when not gaming) is still persistent.

So how do I overclock my CPU now? Which program should I use and what voltages are safe?

Specs (in my siggy): i5-3450(no cpu cooler), HD5870, 500W PSU

I think the OCN thread has explained enough the GSOD issue so if still persist then that sounds like a card problem. Send it for RMA. 
i5 3450 has a locked multiplier with turbo up to 3.9 only hence at such a low clock it should run fine at stock vcore.
OC in BIOS settings. You're asking the wrong person about safe voltage - check out first post for basic notes.

I did check out anandtech about Ivi Bridge overclocking tips but really too much for me to understand at all

So, my i5-3450 3.1GHz can overclock up to 3.9GHz?

estimate what voltage should i set to achieve 4.0ghz?

or i should set it auto voltage?

Every chip is different. Tried 4GHz @ auto vcore stable? If not then raise it, not stable raise it until stable so I guess that's an easy job.

ya i saw the thread. subcethis is my first time oc so i wanna learn all the mobo function first, from the cyntrixtech quote, i tried 4.0ghz with 1.15v is it too low? i straight got BSOD

What's the lowest vcore required to complete a 32M run at 5GHz?

Yo bro... 5GHz 2c2T lowest vcore i tried was 1.38v to complete 32m. 5GHz 4c8t is no go on 3D. Cooling limit & it loves voltage.

Gonna get another 2pcs of 3770K & MVF tommorow hopefully better than the current chip.

Ivy bridge seems to release a lot of heat compare to Sandy...

just got my 3570k for few weeks, oc it to 4.0 with stock cooler.
prime test for few minutes, the temp reach around 90 already.
any sifu got ways to step down the temp?
tried step down the PLL to the Min and offset vol to +0.005v only, yet the heat... oh mai..

btw, my mobo is Asrock Extreme4 Z77
