QUOTE(r1v3r @ Mar 5 2012, 10:46 AM) Well, your future bonus will base on higher monthly salary, that's more than enough to offset the tax defference. bro big 4 big 5 not based on $ bracket, those guy simply got bigger asset hahah That's fast to get from one side of the sandwish to the other side within a year or two. Getting a SG car should not be a problem for you. So next year no more big 4 but SG big 5 You dont know or you dont want to use Giro leh? 0% interest wor. guess it was a lot of risk to jump within short period, all in am 1 n half year back in sg and day n nite, still looking for better prospect already hopefully can break into the elite class like seantang and mackiddo getting a car because i need to commute kl everyweek plane ticket for two is too painful already |

Speaking of e-Filing, early last week I sent that Master Giro Application Form to IRAS to sign up for the 12-month installment thingy for income tax. Do they normally send back a letter acknowledging that it's set up successfully?

For pilot, initial 2 years pay is reasonable. After that, you can shake legs already. My nephew is a pilot earning a base $10000usd in a regional airline here. Depends on which airline you are talking about also. He's only 25yo. His dad is a former SIA captain for 30 years.

On top of that, you still cant shake leg like the pilots inside the cockpit once you press the auto-pilot. Cant work with pretty stewardess Cant travel around the world Cant own a BMW at age of 25... |

What surprises me, is that HK's pay is so much lower compared to Singapore. I for one expected them to be relatively similar, given that the perception of HK as financial powerhouse and the so-called gateway to China.Link to article ![]() |

I guess that becuase HKD's weak strength (since its pegged against USD) compared to SGD appreciation against USD? |

Yes, that's your 0% Monthly GIRO tax deduction right? My co have link with Iras. Income info is Auto update by IT system. First few years still have to log in and just click submit. Then for years IRAS inform me I don't even have to log in for efiling as long as my tax deductible remain unchanged. But they will mail the hard copy of tax Stament to me every year. This original doc must keep properly. You will need it when it come to entry permit renewer. |

QUOTE(singaporestreet @ Mar 5 2012, 02:09 AM) guys plzz help.. there are several questions i'd like to ask.. ok, just answer you base on my opinion because i live in both place for around a year...1 - living in jb or singapore? (which one is cheaper) 2 - if in jb, if my company is at queen street, should i live at gelang patah or jb city? 3 - motorcycles vs car commuting (do i need to pay toll at custom?) 4 - car vs motorcycles (time to destination.. is it really motorcycle faster?) 5 - i tried by bus it took around 1.5 hours to reach my office from jb sentral.. plzz..plzzz... help..sorry just noobie.. 1. for my case, i would say SG is cheaper, 1 thing is because i got a very cheap rent at $400 per month include pub and internet (friend's relative house). when i stay in JB, i actually brought my KL car and also a bike to commute to work. installment already eat up almost RM1k. if include the RM300 rental, RM60 for electric + water and RM140 for internet, definitely more than that $400. 1 more thing is when u stay in JB, u always feels taht spending in RM is cheap and tend to buy buy and buy more stuff coz u think its cheap, that leads u to spend more $$. that is for my case... maybe you can control your self well, then u can really safe a lot. 2. Queen street is in the town area. If i were you, i would choose to stay in JB town. Coz using the causeway, u can save a lot on toll. 3. the toll rates are like this. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « 4.I only use causeway, so i can give u the rough estimation for causeway only. If ride bike, from Causeway, u need to queue average 20-30 mins at kastam. and from Kastam to queen street around 25-30 mins (my riding style). If drive car, sometimes u are lucky, kastam only takes u 10 mins. but prepare to Jam at SLE and CTE. if u are heading to town, not to forget the crazy ERP during office hours. i went to Suntec once, on bike, it cost me almost $5, so if drive car, prepare to pay double what the bikers are paying and prepare to Jam at CTE/PIE long long time. I currently works in Tampines, from JB sentral to Tampines, it took me less than 1 hour on bike. if drive car, if no traffic jam, would be around there as well. maybe 10-15 mins more. but if jam, prepare to late more than 1 hour. for your case, i think bike will be faster by 15-20 mins. (base on my experience) 5. should be around that time, but not much freedom if u take bus, cannot go home late, cannot go hang out with friends and most importantly, u cannot enjoy a better life while staying in JB. if that's the case, why not just stay in SG if u ask me. Unless u really wanna hardcore safe money, then u can go ahead, but i can confirm that u won't feel happy because u will have 0 entertainment and when ur colleagues or friends ask u out, u can't join... |
