QUOTE(deodorant @ Feb 8 2012, 09:40 AM) Well, one reason is that corporate plans for iPhone are crazy cheap. Wah, that's dirt cheap...My company's iPhone4S plan is $38 a month for 500mins 500sms 12gb data, and the phone (16gb version) comes free. Contract 2 years = $38 x 24 = $912 total payment which is even less than the $948 you pay if you buy retail phone only. Android phones don't have anywhere near that kind of subsidy. In Malaysia, RM38 cant even grant you a nokia 3210 brick phone. In Malaysia, RM88 can only enough for you to sign-up 1mbps Slowymx line. In Singapore, S$88 can sign-up for 100mbps fibre-optics. |

QUOTE(seantang @ Feb 8 2012, 11:43 AM) That's your company's CIS (Corp Individual Scheme). Pretty good as the monthly fee is the lowest of the 3 generic plans but the free minutes/data/handset price is from the mid-top plans. BB Bold 9900? Better consider Android phones... SGS2 or HTC Sensation XE.My company's CIS deal is crap. Basically just a 10-20% discount on the monthly fees for any of the generic plans. For the $38 plan, the 16GB ipon is around $500 I think. I need to renew my contract... and I'm going for BB Bold 9900 since I'll have company email on the phone as well. |

Anyone seen the KFC incident in Malaysia?
What a damn racist act by that bunch of pariah. I mean come on, if this ever happen in Singapore, it a gone case, that guy will probably get an ISA term for 5 years or disbarred Singapore citizenship. See for yourself how singapore treats its minors. Even indonesia is better than malaysia nowadays. See the bottom of the photo, "NOTE" ![]() |

QUOTE(seantang @ Feb 14 2012, 11:18 AM) If you're staying in SG for >2 years, contract for the $38/month entry level voice+data iPhone plan for 2 years. 12gb of data plus the average voice package. Buy a nice phone at a deeply discounted price. You don't save much by going for a voice only plan to save a few bucks but then probably spend more later on by getting a separate broadband line or buying your dream phone at full price. How much is the phone price like?If you're staying in SG for <2 years, then it gets complicated. But I still think the $38/mth basic iPhone plan is hard to beat. And if your company participates in the Corp Individual Scheme, the corp discount applied to the $38 can be very deep. Maxis cheapest plan at RM100 per mth need to top-up RM1,450 for the iphone 4S 16GB. Bear in mind that, you can sign-up for 1 year plan too (if you are EP holder) but the monthly fees is higher. If you are considering a move to SG, ppl will not only arguing bout working benefits and environment but instead ppl will be much more concern about social lifestyle, family comfort, children education, healthcare, political stability, safety etc
1 more thing for sure, the KFC incident will not happen in SG at least. |

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Feb 15 2012, 12:37 PM) you are wrong. it's even worst, 2 grown ups fighting over Hello Kitty's toy at McDonald and shattered the glass panel. Source? you mean different race fighting over a toy or wat??I am indirectly referring to "warna kulit" lah bro... I mean all are equal in SG regardless of race, age, gender, religion, nationality etc. You perform, you get your piece of cake, you under-perform, you get peanuts. As easy as ABC. And this is how SG achieve its success as well. Sadly, this is not the case in Malaysia. |

Wow, I gonna butthurt liao.
I just get to know my friend's friend at the SG Airshow 2012 over the last weekend working as a first officer pilot in SIA and draws him a salary of $26,000 per month and guess what, he is only 28 this year. Fulalmak, high income, great salary, high social status profession, a job that command great respects and attention especially from all the stewardress, travel around the world, staying in 5 stars hotel when abroad, which jobs other than pilot can have these sort of treatment and attributes?? And my friend told me he just bought a condo in SG and also paying installment for RM3 million bungalow in KL. Back to ground now whereby most of us is only earning $7K to $8K a month. Sad.... Regretted I din took-up piloting but when into accountancy instead. |

He mentioned average take home income (but not sure is before or after tax), so I believe is inclusive of allowances because he used to fly to Australia and the Great Britain.
I think is true as average Airasia pilot income already reached RM13K to RM14K previously when I look through the Airasia pilot thread in here. |

QUOTE(extremepower @ Mar 5 2012, 11:47 AM) For pilot, initial 2 years pay is reasonable. After that, you can shake legs already. My nephew is a pilot earning a base $10000usd in a regional airline here. Depends on which airline you are talking about also. He's only 25yo. His dad is a former SIA captain for 30 years. Pilot 25 yrs old earning US$10,000.... OKIn contrast, for an Accountant or Engineer to earn US$10,000 a month, you need to have 10-13 yrs of experience. On top of that, you still cant shake leg like the pilots inside the cockpit once you press the auto-pilot. Cant work with pretty stewardess Cant travel around the world Cant own a BMW at age of 25... |

QUOTE(RabbitS @ Mar 6 2012, 01:37 AM) not easy being a pilot u know.. after age 50 might be made redundant, a lot of risk involved and travelling is nvr easy Then, I will either be a ground school instructor earning S$8K a month, open a small business like Chatime/Old Town White Coffee in SG, or have few properties in SG collecting rental and have a normal easy life. In comparison to an engineer, IT or accountant, by age of 50, most probably you will still be working for someone else and loss all your hair due to all stress you suffered throughout your working life. Most probably I will advise my son to take-up piloting in the future. |

It's been 4.5 years now for me in SG. Iife is starting to get bored here especially everyday MRT, public bus, sweet taste chaw kuei tiaw.
Thought of not repeating the same routine daily and now intend to return to KL to start my business perhaps or continue my career there. Anyone have the same intention as mine? |
