Today SG radio news said causeway toll will increase by 5 times, I also read a line from ahjib kor that remind us drink water must think of its source, must replay the kindness of BN gov that dig the well (right into rakyat pocket).

So, let's remember to meet at GE13 to repay his kindness even at the 5x the current causeway toll charge.

Need some one to confirm the brain part? Or another doc friend of mine who leave SG for better pay in other country kind of story?

Because of EDL? Most brilliant crony songlap-ism ever. Build a billion ringgit highway so that KL people going to Singapore can skip JB town ... but charge the toll at the Causeway so that even people who don't use the new highway need to pay for it.
*
MY lousy contractor keep thinking I owed him big time for diging my back yard at my expense, should I send him back by MAS?.... fly kite him.

If there are other affortable alternatives such as MRT, ferry and pedestrian link along current causeway then I don't mind a hike in private car toll fee to increase public transport usage, I get faster clearance time for a fee but definately not in this robbery manner.

Can ask the JB police to rest for good, what's the point to catch small thieve in dark alley while allowing big robber operating 24/7 in front of Johor Istana... Oh.. the crime rate does not include bluntant corruption/robbery... ah I'm sooo forgetful near GE.

Well, driving into SG
Malaysia Side:
Current Toll: RM2.90 X 22
New Toll: RM16 X 22
Patrol: Varies

SG Side
Toll: SGD1.20 X 22
If Malaysian Car: SGD20 X 22
ERP: Varies
Parking: Varies

So it actually depend on a few factors.  For me, I need to pay about SGD850 when the new toll rate kicks in.
*
for SG car

Custom Only: (RM16 + (S$1.2 x 2.4) ) x 22 = RM415.36 or S$173.07

estimated 70,000 cars/day so it is RM1,120,000 each day for the work of maintaining 8km highway. More than enough to buy a N35 GTR each day.

Not sure about that. Did lta ever award the rights to collect and increase toll charges for 34 years to contractor who build the road or gantry?

Tax collection for a gov now become free gift to private company, how can that be good?

Reduce traffics? Don't think so, factor in the petrol cost and time using 2nd link ia about the same with new causeway charges, if there are people willing to go by 2nd link then it's just time that the rest will pay the cost to use causeway.

Corruption in broad daylight, LKY must be laughing you pay peanuts you get monkey. I say even we pay coconut we will still get monkey. Who will resist one R35 everyday for the next 34 years.

err... you need to attend police academy to be a police, no? You sure you want to do that?

If you REALLY want to wear the uniform once in a while then try this "part time VSC"

"Senior Officers perform a minimum of 24 hours of duty per month while Police Officers (Junior) perform 16 hours.

VSC Officers receive an allowance of S$3.60 an hour by the Government, regardless of rank. "

Join Malaysia polis then, as we always said Malaysia Polis not enuff cainis.  You get more overall pay (basic + allowance + kopi) compare to Singapore. Rank is not matter as 5 bowl of abalone rice is easy to get and if can get higher rank, your rice bowl can be made of 24k gold... laugh.gif

UBS prices vs earnings report, Singapore salary compared to Malaysia salary is on average about 0.8sgd to 1.0myr ... so theoretically if you came over and got offered 0.8sgd it could be considered "earning the same amount."
*
Looking at price level and wage level on UBS report update2011, SG is about twice of KL. However,
Domestic purchasing power is about the same.

I am not Econ guy but I read it as: SG high wage high price level (more imported item) ; MY lower wage with lower price level (1malaysia shop?).

Can provide the link on how you get the 0.8 figure?

The magic happen when SG wage level meet KL price level.

*
say you will get 5%(any number) salary increse every year in MY and SG. Redo the math to see the effect on your saving in RM.. got it?

also

3 months Bonus of RM4.5k vs 3 months Bonus of SGD4.5k

The Hello Kitty Craze in Singapore: A Cultural and Comparative Analysis  thumbup.gif
by Benjamin Wai-ming Ng, Associate Professor, Japanese Studies Department Chinese University of Hong Kong Shatin, NT, Hong Kong

http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/jas/staff/benng/pub...%20Profile).pdf
"At the peak of its popularity, 300,000 Singaporeans or about 8% of the entire population, including children, adults, and old people, jammed all 114 McDonald’s outlets in Singapore round the clock. This craze turned this “fine city” into a “war zone”. Ugly human dramas, such as fights, vandalism, jumping queue, quarrels, dumping unwanted burgers and trash, became the foci of mass media coverage. McDonald’s was under fire for creating chaos. It was criticized by the Consumers’ Association of Singapore and the Federation of Merchants’ Association. Even the government showed its concern. Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said: “Once in a while is alright, but we should not get too carried away. Even if you want the Kitty, there is no need to fight fiercely to try and get one (Straits Times, February 2000).
*
before the kitty was the couple bears.. I remember those time because when I came to office there will be a few free McD Breakfast to chose from but you have to help them to eat McD for lunch too...

This year budget is for the people of Singapore. The gov had too much focus on growth in the past. With growing ageing population, this budget come at the right time for its people.

When economy down, employer might cut older local staff for cheaper ft. With lower ft quota and higher cpf for elder staff, sg gov is protecting their people. Minister Tharman had said lower growth is expected for this "inclusive theme" budget.

No point argue with ex finance minister over the budget if the gov fail to win its people vote right? After the last GE, pap have to do this.

I wish MY gov have the HEART for its people like SG.

Ok, let's see what we have
1) more medical staff needed with the expansion.
2) more bus driver and service technician with new buses
3) education and training center will have greater demand since gov want to train more worker.
More trainer jobs.

I have 20+ annual leave + x days of unrecorded leave. Not easy to take leaves as there are responsibilities.
I started 2012 with 40+ days of annual leave, have to clear at least half this year else wasted.

Just changed some SGD to MYR today at my usual money changer in Ipoh. Pretty low at 2.38. Interesting thing is that I'm checking Maybank2u.sg right now, and it's also 2.38 using Regionlink. This is the 3rd time this year that I've checked and found that M2U is offering a competitive rate vs money changers. There is of course the issue of the S$15 fee with M2U, but given the fact that I had to walk around with a pocketful of SGD for the past couple of days... $15 to remove the whole hassle seems worth it.
*
charge big item with Maybank card, you get the exchange rate + rewards point - the $15 charge.

Is there high paying iPhone production related jobs in SG that offer 2.8k for a fresh poly grad?

A technician candidate said her friend got the offer and asking why she gets much less than that.

When I heard the story, the image of china Foxconn appear in my mind.

^ how many $K or $M you want to transfer in daily basis?

3rd party account is $5k. For own account should be what ever balance you have lah.

If you are big VIP client to the bank I am sure you can call the bank to arrange right?

If you are normal people, 5k/day should be more than enough.

If you are buying condo for cows then I guess there is not limit for as long as BN still in power. Should ask them how they transfer the money to SG.
