QUOTE(r1v3r @ Feb 9 2012, 08:39 PM) Can provide the link on how you get the 0.8 figure? Wage levels (Singapore) = 41.7% of New York Wage levels (KL) = 21.0% of New York Therefore on average, ratio of SG salary to KL salary on average is 1.98 : 1.00; i.e if you had RM 10,000 in KL, and you moved to SG and got RM19,800 (SGD 8,215), you would be earning exactly the same in terms of comparison to the average wage levels in each city. So ... SGD0.8 : MYR 1.0 lor. Obviously this calculation is hardly comprehensive, can at best be used as just a rough guideline. |

QUOTE(sylar111 @ Feb 9 2012, 06:13 PM) Of couse. You can do that. But you have to admit that mobility wise you are limited. I mean you know what I mean rite. I think people tend to be more warmhearted in My. Not saying that such ppl do not exist in Sg, but less. People are a little carefree over in KL. I agree that in Sg there are lots of things over. Definitely. But atmosphere wise, I dun think so. You may think that way but the truth is you can easily find ppl who are warmhearted (very likely not singaporeans)Rite. Mobility will not be a big issue...there are lot of forums for specific interest and area which you can join. i stay in the north but play badminton in the east every week because of the company. With the pay in Malaysia, I'll be stuck at home yum cha and gardening.
Working here in Singapore, I can fly every month for budget trip. Unless you call travelling = boring. I think most ppl(especially those from KL) call Singapore a bore because they're away from the buddies and family, and they've yet to build up a new social life here. To me life in Sg now is like how I just moved from Pg to KL. Things will get better soon. |

QUOTE(icycokes @ Feb 9 2012, 08:49 PM) Has anyone heard SearchAsia or Recruit Express or even other recruitment firms? What are your impression in them? I guess you all must have been receiving calls from them very often. Recruit Express deals a lot with GLC companies. I got my job via Recruit Express in Singapore. The HH can be quite aggressive if they know the company is interested in you.Added on February 10, 2012, 12:17 am QUOTE(kockroach @ Feb 9 2012, 11:00 PM) maybe some are introvert, the social circle is not big here so they find it boring. which is why I strong recommend everyone to join the Facebook group created by our JB KING. QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Feb 9 2012, 10:20 PM) nope, but what does this got to do with working in Singapore? Why not fair? In Mareshia, drink driving is not a big deal, only not drunk driving. If road block and you cannot pass the test result, the most is you pay kopi, rarely get a saman until you suspend your license.Added on February 9, 2012, 10:21 pm haha, That is not a really fair comparison But in singapore, i hearsay so many comments about drink driving that the penalty is so serious that you may end up in jail and license suspended. I guess, no need to reach to the seriuosness of going to jail, just license suspended is terrible enough. Without a license, what to do with the car? Park it at car park lot to rot but keep paying? I am not that rich... |

What a damn racist act by that bunch of pariah. I mean come on, if this ever happen in Singapore, it a gone case, that guy will probably get an ISA term for 5 years or disbarred Singapore citizenship. See for yourself how singapore treats its minors. Even indonesia is better than malaysia nowadays. See the bottom of the photo, "NOTE" ![]() |

QUOTE(MPIK @ Feb 10 2012, 08:48 AM) Anyone seen the KFC incident in Malaysia? What a damn racist act by that bunch of pariah. My personal view is that it takes two to tango. Restaurant workers don't assault their staff for no reason. Note that I am not justifying the assault - the workers should definitely have had more self control - I'm just saying that the "victim" is hardly as innocent as he's trying to portray himself. |

QUOTE(Tigerr @ Feb 10 2012, 10:03 AM) Yup, i agree, that what i think. The KFC staffs could have been working the whole day non stop as too many customers and it could be one of their busiest day. May be some of them too tired and just work slow or taking some break or some bad apples just work like working in a govt dept. You know this likely wont happen in the service industry here since most of them are foreigners and they would rather bite the bullet and take the insults and what not from irate customers rather then lose their jobs and be sent back to their home country. This does not apply to singaporeans or malaysians since its much easier for them to get another job compared to the other FT's.Then, for the customer side, they may have been waiting on the queue for some time and upon seeing some workers laze around, may be this make them anger and start complaining. If not, how the hell can provoke such incidents. I dont think the KFC staffs will suka suka go and make trouble with the customers if they dont have interaction at the first place. And the interaction most probably initiated by the customers by ushing them quick, we waited so long already....etc etc. Then, may be some KFC staffs feel "bo-song" and retreat back with some bad vulgars..and the customer must have been challenging back. Else, i cant see any reason why the staffs will attack him. If he keep quiet and wait his turn...then, probably no issue. I believe there are other chinese as well there, if they are racist, why they only attack him only? and not other chinese there....Food for thougths. |
