QUOTE(Tigerr @ Feb 10 2012, 10:03 AM) Yup, i agree, that what i think. The KFC staffs could have been working the whole day non stop as too many customers and it could be one of their busiest day. May be some of them too tired and just work slow or taking some break or some bad apples just work like working in a govt dept. Then, for the customer side, they may have been waiting on the queue for some time and upon seeing some workers laze around, may be this make them anger and start complaining. If not, how the hell can provoke such incidents. I dont think the KFC staffs will suka suka go and make trouble with the customers if they dont have interaction at the first place. And the interaction most probably initiated by the customers by ushing them quick, we waited so long already....etc etc. Then, may be some KFC staffs feel "bo-song" and retreat back with some bad vulgars..and the customer must have been challenging back. Else, i cant see any reason why the staffs will attack him. If he keep quiet and wait his turn...then, probably no issue. I believe there are other chinese as well there, if they are racist, why they only attack him only? and not other chinese there....Food for thougths. You know this likely wont happen in the service industry here since most of them are foreigners and they would rather bite the bullet and take the insults and what not from irate customers rather then lose their jobs and be sent back to their home country. This does not apply to singaporeans or malaysians since its much easier for them to get another job compared to the other FT's.

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Feb 26 2012, 05:16 PM) I'm considering getting a pair of speaker, but since I'm staying in HDB (guess most of us here do), is headphone a better option compared to speaker? PS: I'm an audiophile... I personally would get headphones since i love to crank up my music and staying in an enclosed space like singapore, it would be an annoyance to your neighbors, not to mention of housemates. What type of headphone are you looking into, earpad headphones, in-ear headphones, over the ear headphones etc. Since your an audiophile, i would recommend the Sennheiser's HD 800. There's a store in ION orchard which is dedicated solely to headphones, you could enquire and ask the store staff on recommendation of headphones which suite your preference. QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Mar 2 2012, 11:03 AM) Not really lar... At least business (if it suceed) can ensure a stable income.. Working for people in SG, if boss dun like your face can fire you... Either that or they will exploit you and play mind games with you since they know if your an FT, you will value your position in your company more so then a singapore citizen or PR. Im not so concerned about the typical singaporen employer since i am no longer employed by one and i only drop into singapore if i am on assignment. QUOTE(keelim @ Mar 19 2012, 10:16 AM) I actually did a risk assessment for myself. As a salaried employee, 3 events would bankrupt me:- i) Gamble ii) Medical (family and myself) iii) Siblings/Parents debt The solution to the 1st is pretty straightforward. For medical, I insured my family and myself with Prudential. I remember paying a premium of S$180/month. The 3rd item is unlikely to happen but is more of a generalization from the countless observation. It aint a perfect world anyway. No. 2 wouldnt apply if you have a DNR order.

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Mar 19 2012, 07:27 PM) makes my blood boils knowing an innocent life of a family man is lost over a selfish act. should really look at some of the prc in a different way now. Not to worry, most people in singapore already look at them in a different way. But the "ah neh's" get the brunt of the discrimination. QUOTE(icycokes @ Mar 21 2012, 02:56 PM) It seems like you are supporting the discriminations of Chinese and Indians (Foriegners) in SG. But don't forget Malaysians are foreigners too I am not supporting the discrimination, just stating the fact on the street that most singaporeans resent foreigners of the indian and china creed. They even have an unofficial poll as to the most hated "FT" in their midst and you can assured that malaysian are very low in the standings.

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Mar 22 2012, 08:54 PM) I thought medical checkup is paid by the employer? It is paid by the employer and not borne by the employee. Plus it doesnt cost much to do a basic aids test unlike me who had to go for a full medical examination with full blood panel. I should have told the HR people that i hate needles.

QUOTE(ivanswk @ Mar 23 2012, 10:42 AM) i can imagine that and think still can fit 1 more (me) hahah .. I dont need to imagine that, i've been to a house which practices that. And i can on up ivanswk with one fella sleeping in the hall room on a makeshift bed. Mostly burmese, indian or prc labourers do this for "economic" reasons.
