Today SG radio news said causeway toll will increase by 5 times, I also read a line from ahjib kor that remind us  drink water must think of its source, must replay the kindness of BN gov that dig the well (right into rakyat pocket).

So, let's remember to meet at GE13 to repay his kindness even at the 5x the current causeway toll charge.

What else you want since you already said it is no brainer?

Need some one to confirm the brain part? Or another doc friend of mine who leave SG for better pay in other country kind of story?
*
Yes, quite confirmed that they will increase the toll to RM15++. Not only that we have to pay the toll when we do not use EDL, the money goes to somone's pocket instead of to the nations. Counted if it's 22 working days, it will cost about RM350 extra monthly.

So can anyone summaries the cost of driving to and fro from JB to SG everyday for work? Thanks.
*
Well, driving into SG
Malaysia Side:
Current Toll: RM2.90 X 22
New Toll: RM16 X 22
Patrol: Varies

SG Side
Toll: SGD1.20 X 22
If Malaysian Car: SGD20 X 22
ERP: Varies
Parking: Varies

So it actually depend on a few factors. For me, I need to pay about SGD850 when the new toll rate kicks in.

johor has one of the highest criminal rates in Malaysia, no?
is it really that feasible to stay in jb and work in sg? saves that much? despite the trouble?
*
Well, depending on how you look at it. I think one will still need to take extra precaution to it. During my days back in KL, there were car jack cases happened as well.

for SG car

Custom Only:  (RM16 + (S$1.2 x 2.4) ) x 22 = RM415.36 or S$173.07

estimated 70,000 cars/day so it is RM1,120,000 each day for the work of maintaining 8km highway. More than enough to buy a N35 GTR each day.

One for me, one for my makcik, one for my wife and one for my kid. No make that two for me.

Also, there seems to have a crack: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...8212&sec=nation

For those who miss KL, we can have another MRR2 episode in JB?

Hi all! I am glad i see this topic at last!

I am sure most of you posted in this topic are all currently or previously have worked in spore. I myself was perplexed as to how good and better the working environment in spore compared to Msia in terms of salary, bonus and not to say the currency exchange.

Well, to start off my question, Let me introduce my background. I am a soon to be graduated student from an IPTA, majoring in applied science( not an engineering degree though) .

Here are the questions which i like to know:

How do you guya apply jobs in spore ? by jobstreet ? or self approach to the company?

normally will spore company take in those graduates?

If i were to apply to MNC like nestle in spore, would it better if i approach and email the nestle company myself? or i have to apply thru jobstreet depending on the vacancy?

please shed some light. thanks
*
The only way is continue trying. As a graduate it may be a bit more challenging but who knows, you can strike gold. Prepare your resume and read up on how to prepare a cover letter. That will help too.

Are these recruitment jobs listed on these sites targeted to Malaysians or those PRs or citizens?
*
You can look into jobsdb, jobstreet, monster with a .sg behind it. Those are jobs from Singapore. Well, just give it a try. Part of job hunting is to be thick skin as well. Other than sending out your resume, you can also make your resume "searchable" as well by headhunters. Chances are you will get a lot of calls that may not be related to the job opportunity that you are looking for. It better than not getting calls, right?

Haha.. true also. It's not easy getting 1-1. When I come here, I only gets 70% of my Malaysia's pay. So I know it's going to be quite difficult but do not sell yourself low though. Make sure your resume is impressive.

Has anyone heard SearchAsia or Recruit Express or even other recruitment firms? What are your impression in them? I guess you all must have been receiving calls from them very often.
*
Recruit Express deals a lot with GLC companies. I got my job via Recruit Express in Singapore. The HH can be quite aggressive if they know the company is interested in you.

maybe some are introvert, the social circle is not big here so they find it boring. which is why I strong recommend everyone to join the Facebook group created by our JB KING.

Is it possible to share the name which he created in FB? There are a few JB King in FB. hehe...

Just curious, how long for the EPass to be approved? I really cannot remember how long it took mine to get approved. Also, is there a way to find out the ACRA for the company (need that to fill the EPASS form).

He asked me why not just stay and travel 1hour and half per trip? its not that bad, and its very common in tokyo.

Haha... Stay in JB, work in SG = Japanese... However, if you stay in SG and travel 1.5hrs, it will be quite a toll.

Just a question... anyone here being an EP holder, found another job and reapply for the new EP? Understood that it will take 1 day to 2 weeks.

Also, know anyone who failed to get the new EP after working in the old company for about a year and a half and then tender?

the new EP requirement force some need to downgrade to WP
another one is your ex employer sabo u with MOM  sweat.gif
*
Wow, the downgrade will not really happen. Haha.. I was pushing to upgrade to P1 but did not get that so remains as P2. The interesting one is that Ex-employer can sabo one aa? Amazing.. but will the ex (or rather the current) employer knows when we go apply for new EP? They would only know when it is kena rejected/approved, right? Or I might be wrong. hehe...

Unfortunately, that is a LONG LONG way before I reach P1... way too long to dream. Elite members would be those P1 overboard with a lot of buffer to spare. We are just those "Kais pagi makan pagi, tengahari and malam and kais petang bayar kad kredit" kind of worker only.

Added on February 24, 2012, 2:33 pmIf hor, they apply for the new EP yesterday late noon, agak agak how long eh to get the result. Like waiting for the result only... keep going in to have a look but still state pending.
