Spend only 1K in Malaysia but lives like a KING? Suka suka maids already 1K, no?

Even assuming the expenses are correct, he actually has more than 3.5K left in SG because he has this big landed house in MY which he can rent out and offset against his rental in SG.

Also, if include taxation - the impact in MY will be much greater than SG.

either maths fail and got kicked out...or there is some other attachment not mentioned back home.

Guys, i got one question to ask.

There are 2 type of form when applying PR right?

One is through working permit.

The other one is through wife sponsor (my wife is PR).

Bout the second choice, i heard that if ur wife sponsor u as a PR, u need to go for national service? If tat is the case, why not i go for option 1?
*

yes...if sponsored by wife who is PR...u will become a 2nd gen PR which is liable for NS.
some reasons....some company bonds u when u ask them to fill up the form (even though u are not asking them to sponsor u)
maybe easier to get if ppl sponsor.

now we just need to know which company and avoid it. laugh.gif laugh.gif

How do you guya apply jobs in spore ? by jobstreet ? or self approach to the company? Do both. There are also monster, jobsdb and lot more job recruitment sites

normally will spore company take in those graduates?  Depends on luck

If i were to apply to MNC like nestle in spore, would it better if i approach and email the nestle company myself? or i have to apply thru jobstreet depending on the vacancy? Just send in direct while spamming apply in job recruitment sites. You never know when there will be a sudden opening or a future opening which is not advertised yet.

Just curious. I am looking for a position in Singapore. My expected salary is SGD4500. But my friends told me that most of her friends request between SGD 3 - 4k. I am in the IT line and I am a J2EE developer. Do you think I am asking for too much?
*

number of years of exp?
if u wan 4.5....just try and ask for 4.5
No need to lower to 3-4 as the employer will do that part for u.
if the employer doesn't then it is ur gain.

Then I can tell you 4.5 is very much lower than what the market can pay you.
Go higher...match your number in ringgit if you want.
IT is a good market. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Are you sure? I have a few friends working in IBM. They are around 35 years in age doing support and they are getting SGD4500. They are also singaporeans. Are you sure that the market in Sg can pay SGD 6600?

Added on February 9, 2012, 4:12 pm

That one I am not sure.
*
it is very much up to u.
if u think ur skill set can demand that much, why not try?
i have slightly less exp when i came, and i am not specialized like u (u are in j2ee, i am half bucket of water)...but i got more than what your frens' frens said. tongue.gif tongue.gif
but if u think 6.6 is too high, then i advise u go for 5 (round numbers are good)
employers will rarely match the number u ask unless u are exceptionally good or the number u ask is very low.

Because my friend is around 35. I am around 30. I really do not know the market in Sg. I dun think it is fair that companies are paying on a 1-1 (RM- SG) scale. Can someone maybe advise me the scale? How much lower should i ask for based on my current salary of RM 6600?
Thanks
*
i think someone mentioned maximum to go down is 0.8 before.
if u think u are overpaid currently, then 1-1 is hard.
underpaid, must go at least 1-1.

go out wif frens? then make frens in sg...there is a lot more to sg than what we all think.
drive around? then go take the bus and see where it takes you.
ur life is boring if u make it so.

Of couse. You can do that. But you have to admit that mobility wise you are limited. I mean you know what I mean rite. I think people tend to be more warmhearted in My. Not saying that such ppl do not exist in Sg, but less. People are a little carefree over in KL. I agree that in Sg there are lots of things over. Definitely. But atmosphere wise, I dun think so.
Rite.
You may think that way but the truth is you can easily find ppl who are warmhearted (very likely not singaporeans)
Mobility will not be a big issue...there are lot of forums for specific interest and area which you can join.
i stay in the north but play badminton in the east every week because of the company.

as i said...u wan frens to yum cha and tok kok, go make more frens.
u wan a home...go rent the whole unit then...no money, share wif frens/settle down.
when u are in kl...the petrol is cheap when u are earning RM and buying in RM? no toll in KL?
i dun drive here so i dun really know the exact price of petrol, but from what i observe...it is abt 2.xx per litre, which is similar to the price in m'sia 1.9x
u are complaining things are against u when u are affected by change (due to the move) but refuse to adapt.

Kawan, am not here to complain. I just echoed the post that living in sgp is a bit boring only.

Perhaps, you are still young, you still can enjoy hangout in pubs, discos, makan makan here and there, shopping here and there. But me unker already, most friends here also busy after work. When come out, mostly end up in the pub but drinking is a problem again.....some times curi curi drink till 3-4 mugs but must be super careful and alert on the road... shakehead.gif Am have no less friends here cari makan too, just that we all spread north, east, south, west and working time cannot predict, always last minute got this and that....

Backhome, i have a big garden to play with, and you ask me downgrade to potted plants here at the corridor? That is so different and i dont have time to take care all this as me a frequent traveller...I only stay about 50% here and the rest is either backhome or outstation....so, the question to rent a whole unit of hdb is really out of the question. Let me fully settle all my properties backhome, then, may be will seriously start thinking whether to get a private condo or not.  hmm.gif  Like that means, i will be more committed to grow my root deeper in sgp.

Petrol here is expensive leh...around S2.20 now....If you can get something llike RM1.90 across the strait, sure you will feel here is expensive... laugh.gif  Parking also not cheap leh. But save time lar if driving and more flexible.
u said u are not complaining but ur post says otherwise.
as i said, u changed the environment u are in, but u wan to remain the same...up to u then.
if it is that bad, then why are u still here? sweat.gif sweat.gif
they have their bad, but we still chose to come here because of their good
so why keep focusing on the bad when the good outweighed the bad in ur decision to come here.
sooner or later (possibly now), u may become a true blue...with your favorite past time being the same as them - complaining

ok...i better stop if not jbking goin to keel me for spamming off topic.

*
fitness first is abt 16 per month (or 14x if got promo)....excluding gst and sign up fee.
try asking if ur company has corporate rates at any gyms.
if u only do weights, try the public gym...2.50 per entry. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

And btw where are the public gym usually located? Nearby HDBs?

well, u did not lie or misled them (them not asking is not misleading), so there is no bad impression.
in fact, with a Sg number, it gives a better impression in my opinion as you "invested" in Sg. laugh.gif laugh.gif
it shows that you are more keen to work here than the rest who does not have a Sg number.

I am not underpaid in MYR tho, but I've fix expenses of around 3500 in MYR, so after deducting both sides expenses I must have substantial saving.. Thats the thing I am not sure how's expenditure in SG.. say I dont smoke, dont drink, dont club, dont gamble..
*
u can live off 500SGD + rental....the rest can go into saving.
if u can survive with the same amt in RM, i dun understand why u can't with SGD
ur 3.5k RM fix expenses will become ~1.7k SGD, so i still dun see why u can't surive with that. sweat.gif sweat.gif

The thing is rental in SGD is quite high i reckon.. 800-1k SGD..
*
lets do some simple math.
say u now earn RM5k
Fixed expenses = 3.5
Leftover 1.5 for food and the rest + savings.

in sg, say u will earn 5k sgd
Fixed expenses = ~1.7 (this is already over with the current exchange rate of 2.4 instead of 2)
Live off 1.5 for food and the rest + savings (lets make this same as u are back home).
With this, you still have an extra 1.8k from the difference in number due to currency diff for the fixed expenses
Unless your rent is more than the 1.8k, I dun see how u will not be able to survive and save.
