just want to ask for some advice regarding singapore's work permit
recently ive just got offered a job in one of the big 4 in SG. I then resigned frm my current job after i signed their letter of offer.
After 2-3 weeks they told me that my EP/S pass got rejected (even after they appealed) now Im left unemployed. I find this frustrating coz the reason given was Im not qualified for work pass. I hv 2 yrs working exp in big 4 here and acca + oxford brokes degree. Anyone had similar experience? If the application is rejected twice, does it mean they just dont want me to go in anymore? Can i apply other firms and expect a different answer from MoM still or is there a 'cooldown' period before I can change their mind?

you cant change their mind, you can only wait until they change their mind. mean while, keep trying other job.

No I dont have any criminal records ..lol. And Ive only been SG once for the job interview.
The firm told me they cant do anything for me already because they appealed and still got rejected.
I wonder if it'll do me any good if I have gone down personally.. maybe I will but I dont see any hope of me doing that since they rejected the application from the Firm...

still very weird. Just goto mom.gov.sg and feedback to them and ask. Your qualification or salary failed you?

you should had mentioned that you will resign only after u get ipa for ur ep.. 2 years work is still freshie.. oxford brookes we all know it is a top up degree la, few months study only right?.. but with acca should be enough what..

are you from east msia? how much did they offer you? what work pass? wp? s-p? e-p?

No..I'm from west msia. they offered me 3.2k. In the appeal form it's stated that their appeal for S Pass has been rejected so I'm not sure if they first applied for EP, would it make a difference? Supposed to be easier to get S Pass right?

On salary and qualification grounds..it's.. I guess they never expected it to be rejected. They told me they don't really get it as well. They also didn't inform me when it was first rejected. If they told me I would have waited and there is a possibility of retraction of my resignation. It's my first time going abroad and none of my cliques have encountered this before as well so it wasnt in my mind to resign after i get the EP, besides I need to do preparation before I leave. Next time, definitely will wait for it but this is a very costly lesson..very. Now my concern is whether there is a cooldown period for this application and move on. Indescribable feeling.

3.2k they should have applied EP leh, EP qualification is 3k. S Pass could also be rejected cos the company's quota for S Pass already exceeded. Not sure why you kena reject, 3.2k + degree + 2year work exp should be able to get.

I think the firm simply has no more quota left for foreigners. MOM is probably being extra strict as such entry level graduate/professional jobs are deemed to be desirable and easily filled by Singaporeans. It's a hot button with voters/singaporeans now as firms are seen to be taking the easy way out by recruiting foreigners rather than improving the pay and working conditions to recruit more Singaporeans.

Try to get a job with the other accounting firms. Hopefully they have not used up their quotas or being less scrutinised by the MOM. Also go back to your old firm to ask for your job back, or apply to other firms in Malaysia.

It could be quota.. My company ratio now is 3:1 lucky spr counted as part of citizens

yeaps easier.. did they show u the rejection letter? probably they just got another person at cheaper price then they simply say rejected?

Today i miss my flight back 2 malaysia.and finally i need purchase next flight ticket.

Mybe this is the first time i use web check in in air asia website.
I though after i web check in i no need go AA counter check in again can straight to immigration counter for documents check.

how ever, when in i my turn, the changi officer told me, altough i had web check in AA website and print the boarding pass.i still need go 2 AA counter to endorse the boarding pass.WTF...long que in AA counter.If like that then i no need perform web check in....is duplicated process...

i do web check in is because i want skip the AA counter check in....so i miss my flight already...need purchase another ticket.

When back malaysia:
wow...LRT change their ticketing system. just like MRT machine, but is not ticket is a token...but that machine just onli can receive rm 1 or rm 2 and rm5 notes and 10.20,50 sens.
a lot foreigners (include me) stuck @ KL sentral LRT tiket machine because they do not have small change...

i will back 2 sg 2nd April early flight go back work.....

Hehe after you web check in, the boarding pass should have the steps there tell you that you still need to go AA document check mah

just arrive early que @ AA counter le....next time..
coz AA document check counter also que damn long with the rest counter..make no difference

Web check in without document verifying is for domestic flights only.
But the stupidest thing is...there is no domestic flights going out of Changi.
That is what i find idiotic abt AA.
Counter check in...a surcharge.
Web checkin / kiosk checkin....you still need to go to the counter to verify your passport.

sad case, better to early next time when travelling. bus or flights.

for lrt, I notice, the use machines only, no counter in hang tuah. frustrating long q. I am still puzzled why locals not getting the cards like smrt. fanny leh..
