Now I can see selling iPhone accessories is serious business in Singapore.
Come on, Android is still the best mobile OS right now.

the more the merrier... more iphone support with more users... 3g here is good enough to support iphone usage... unlike other countries... and phone packagers here are affordable

Well, one reason is that corporate plans for iPhone are crazy cheap.
My company's iPhone4S plan is $38 a month for 500mins 500sms 12gb data, and the phone (16gb version) comes free. Contract 2 years = $38 x 24 = $912 total payment which is even less than the $948 you pay if you buy retail phone only.

ask u to help me sign up also dont want doh.gif my cousin also dont wanna help me, say that i am cheap and very mah fan for him sweat.gif

BTW, todays budget. Sg will reduce intake of Foreign Talents. So, this means it is going to be slightly tougher to come in. Good luck. wink.gif
Can't blame them making noise. Even the local PR here is feeling the heat from FT.
It is the employers fault who wanted to bring in lower pay people squeezing out the locals and PRs. wink.gif

should be ok. my friend holds sleeping directorship in his family business for uh ... tax purposes (lol). when he started work in a bank in SG, they were OK with it as long as he signed some declaration forms & his manager & compliance approved. EP process not affected.
*
u did ask that question b4... i did ans u, now u ans me back.. kakaka

so MOM didnt make noise? eh.. his directorship in sg or msia?
QUOTE(Aloong @ Feb 21 2012, 02:08 PM)
i think alaskan issue is whether 'WP' can hold directorship in SG, in addition to employment. and whether there any issue with MOM.
Banks declaration are only concern with MAS's concern on conflict of interest, not MOM.
Logically, there's a lot of foreign directors here, but dun think they are "WP", maybe EP.
Btw do they hold EP or something else?
Wat if they get director fee instead of director salary? are they employee, can get EP?
*
work pass diff from work permit ler notworthy.gif

neway.. to be exact it is EP... no salary just fees... not employee

the company will be for investment holding..

Non-executive directors are not employees. Hence they are not employed when they are in Singapore. Therefore they do not need any sort of employment pass or permit.

because EP holders are not allowed to take up 2nd job... being a non exec means not employment right?

Before any haters start bashing me for leaving or whatever, it was never about not liking staying there. Love the money and okay with the living, definitely one of the wisest choices I made! Really starting to feel the pinch here in KL!!! But I must persevere because I have career plans and I couldn't achieve it with staying in my previous company in SG. But definitely did help me clinch my current job here in KL. Hope with the bigger company in KL, can one day come back to SG with a bigger company!! But since I left after the election, any news on whether harder to get jobs there? :-(

In fact, anybody wanna help me ease my burden, by buying of my iPad 2? Just got a replacement set brand new in box from apple. Still have 100 plus days of warranty. Full spec wifi+3G, 64gb, white. Last time can afford get SGD!! It was really helpful in my journey KL-SG and also my work travel overseas.

QUOTE(tgrrr @ Feb 24 2012, 05:59 AM)
Hi,

Question for the experts around here.

I've recently gotten an offer that comes with I think OK salary plus a small housing allowance of SGD870 per month. It's an engineering position, office is somewhere in Jurong. Salary still negotiable but I'm wondering if it would be worth it.
Reason being, I'm not at all keen to share a place with other people, unlike where I am now where I can stay comfortably and cheaply.
The cheapest place in Singapore I can find online to rent a whole unit of HDB is like SGD2000 to SGD2500, whereas a private apartment is something like SGD3500. Are my numbers correct? Would appreciate if you guys can let me know if otherwise.

Also, I'm wondering if there are any legal rules that prohibit the renting of whole HDB flats to foreigner (i.e. PR, non-PR), and thus I must rent a private apartment/condo only which will be much higher than my current estimate? Assuming I'm staying alone, without a partner, parents or otherwise. I'm wondering because HDB flats are after all provided for the purpose as public housing...
Thanks!
*
u can go rent a flat in johor lor.. rm300 nia and commute or rent a studio lor in sg.. dont know if u can find cheap ones..
