Hello guys.

Unifi installer is coming to install unifi at my house on Tuesday. Do they still give the sucky router now? If they do, I might as well buy a TP-LINK in advance so I can swap the router once they install.

I won't be using the IPTV. I'm getting Unifi just for internet. Does TL-WR1043ND makes a good replacement for my case? Or is there a better alternative out there? Thanks. Can't wait. smile.gif

TPLink is very good and cheap. Go for it tongue.gif

I have a question. How fast is Unifi (VIP5) Rm149 package?

6 of my friends and I plan to rent a new house and we always download and stream pps videos a lot. Do u think VIP5 will do? For me I don't think it will, I keep telling my friends that I want at least VIP10 or VIP20. They told me Unifi is very fast even though it is just VIP5. As I am using 4mbps streamyx now sharing with 9 people in a house, it is very slow, it takes more than 10 secs for facebook homepage to load well and for facebook pictures it also need around 7-8 secs for the pictures to become clearly. And sometimes I download something from file sharing websites it will interrupt at halfway. My current housemates are very pissed off with the internet here with the 4mbps we have now. But since I want to move out with 6 friends to a new house soon, we would like to subscribe unifi. Do you all think VIP5 is enough for us? 6 ppl who stream pps and download movie a lot? If not, what do you suggest?

Another question. What would happen if you finish using the 60gb quota for VIP5? Can we still continue to surf the web? If yes, does it become slow?

You can get the vip5. Later, if you feel you need more speed, you can easily upgrade to higher package. Currently, unifi still haven't impose any quota. Use as much as you want.. for now.

Pretty simple, limit your torrent speed, both upload and download. If your true maximum is like 520 kB/s, drop that speed down by 80~100 kB/s to 450~400.

The D-link 615 supplied by Unifi always disconnected from the game server, change to TP Link 841nd solved the problem.

Plan to get the highly rated TP LINK TL-WR1043ND to replace the pariah DLINK.

One question : After I purchase, should I flash the firmware to the latest version? The latest firmware is TL-WR1043ND_V1_120210. Does this firmware has any issue with UNIFI?

Tried that before, lowered down to 50kB/s and still have dc. Is there any QoS setting in DIR-615 to prioritize gaming packets?

Yes it's more than good enough, hahaha

just flash it using UniFi firmware from klseet and plug your IPTV to LAN 1 as noted by klseet, set your PPoE to UniFi mode, and enjoy your router!

Hi guys,

I am installing UNIFI soon. I intend to just use the modem router provided by TM but I read that it might give problems if not wired directly but just using USB adapter for my desktop PC. My desktop PC is situated same floor and quite close to the modem router but seperated by a room door. Is it OK to just use the USB adapter or is it better(possible?) to get the UNIFI contractor to install a LAN cable to my room?

Thanks a lot
