Hi guys,

I am installing UNIFI soon. I intend to just use the modem router provided by TM but I read that it might give problems if not wired directly but just using USB adapter for my desktop PC. My desktop PC is situated same floor and quite close to the modem router but seperated by a room door. Is it OK to just use the USB adapter or is it better(possible?) to get the UNIFI contractor to install a LAN cable to my room?

Thanks a lot

Get the TP Link that have Unifi sticker on the box, no need to flash.  I got this one last month, 5 minutes job and it's done.

Can you elaborate how to change to this TP Link? You mean just plug and play? anything to set up?

Thanks a lot

AND ALSO,

is TL-WR1043ND v1.8. or TL-WR 841ND better?

Hi guys,

I have just managed to replace my router given by Telekom with a TP Link WR841ND model. It works perfectly with good reception EXCEPT the following situation:

I have 2 deskstop PCs connected to the router by cable and 1 desktop PC using wireless USB receiver. If lets say 1 desktop PC connecetd through cable and 1 desktop PC using wireless are running, both will be running smoothly. However, if the 3rd PC connected through cable is being used, then the wireless desktop PC will get disconnected for a while, like 3 minutes, before it gets connection again. Anybody knows why? It really baffles me.

Could be your network card on the 3rd PC.

Sorry, let me explain again. When either or both of the wired desktop PCs are turned on WHILE the wireless PC is running, the wireless PC will lose connection for 3 minutes or so. Isn't it weird?
