I'm new Unifi user today, VIP5 rclxm9.gif

Everything went like clockwork, internet, IPTV all working instantly until the voip phone failed the test. Fiber signal tested low and the tech make a new connector for the black incoming cable and everything running smoothly.

Hi,
I just installed Unifi and would grateful for some advise.
I still maintain my 1515 dialup email address ie xxx@tm.net.my and would like to continue using it. This address has very limited storage capacity as compared to the 2 GB at Unifi.
Is there a way I for me to make use of the 2GB storage capacity at Unifi and still maintaining my previous email address @tm.net.my

Your advise would be most appreciated
*
Good to know that someone else is still keeping the 1515 email like me. I've been changing email from yahoo to streamyx to gmail to penangfon to streamyx again and now unifi, I think keeping a permanent username@tm.net.my avoid me from having to remember so many different emails. I use MS Outlook in my PC that pull all the email from various pop servers to the PC.

Ok Unifi Billing Date is on the 21st of every month, so new bill will always start on the 22nd.

Another thing is, you pay UPFRONT  by 1 month, unlike streamyx where you pay after you use the service for a month.

That pretty much explains the "shock" that unifi users receive when they got the 1st bill tongue.gif

anyone able to add their unifi service to TMRewards?
*
Streamyx blockbuster deal is the same as unifi, pay upfront before use.

Usually how long does it take for TM to terminate your streamyx and phone after unifi activation? I tick on auto-terminate streamyx and phone using online application. It has been 5 days and my streamyx and phone are still working. Thks.

CAT6 is just future proof. I think CAT6 caters for 10Gbps or 100Gbps(Either one) while now common used CAT5E caters 1Gbps. Got money sure use CAT6 la.  tongue.gif
*
But Cat 6 installation is more tricky especially if want to ensure future proof for 10Gbps. If just install without testing and qualifying for 10Gbps, then it is just guaranteed for 1Gbps, might as well just use Cat 5e.

There is no deposit for Streamyx but there is Advance 1 Month Payment when you get your 1st Bill for Streamyx. So, remember to get back your Advance 1 Month Payment or Additional 1 Month Streamyx Usage without paying anything when doing termination. whistling.gif

TM has yet to auto-cut my Streamyx and fixed line after more than a week already with Unifi. I'm going to TMPoint this Thu to disconnect.

QUOTE(Fawkes @ Feb 14 2012, 04:43 PM)
Hello, I need some opinion from experienced people here.

The unifi contractor came to my house today, they checked my house and said that the hole that connects the telephone line from the manhole to the telephone box in my house is too small, so they need to do some drilling and thus need to charge me about RM600+ extra, I think this is quite unreasonable and suspect they are conning me, I tried to negotiate with them but they left immediately soon after and asked me to find my contractor and make another appointment with them. What's your opinion in this?
*
How far is the manhole/pit to your phone box? In my case the hole is big enough but seem to have blockage, so the contractor drill another hole FOC. But my pit is just 6 inches away from the wall.

stimix router?
im using Zyxel P-600 series
unifi router = DIR-615
*
Is this Zyxel given by TM? You'll need to return this ADSL router when you terminate Streamyx within contract period.

wat the crap
40 minutes after installing

the OPTICAL shows red light... and i cant connect to unifi anymore

now using back streamyx

hmmm
is it cos they detected i havent terminate stimix... therefore block my unifi access?

or is it just unlucky for me

ive called the unifi 1800... they said will send a technician to my house ... but dono when
sigh

1st day already like this
*
This probably due to they dd not check the fiber line with measuring equipment during installation. The signal may be bad. My installation went perfectly and I signed the paper already before I remember that they have not test the phone. Fortunately the phone is not working and I checked that the internet and IPTV were down as well. The tech mesured the fiber signal with a meter and it showed "Lo". They have to re-make the incoming fiber connector and mesured a good signal and the phone and everything else are working ever since.

no. 2 is right.

This is unknown yet. From previous Unifi press statement, they are still working on the options that may include paying more for extra download volume as alternative to speed reduction. I would prefer able to choose my option instead of reducing my speed to 512kbps.

QUOTE(Max @ Feb 27 2012, 03:20 PM)
ur unifi now is on fiber right?

the existing tel line can be used, but u have to disconnect the main cable from outside/pole at the "junction box" on ur ceiling/roof.

after that, just connect tel cable from unifi modem to 1 of the tel wall socket which ever nearest.
use splitter if u want to use telephone near the modem.

all other tel wall socket now can be use for ur telephone.

hope this help.  smile.gif

Or you can buy more DECT phones and register them to the same base.

mine i didn't turn off for almost 12 mths now... but one thing.. make sure the router/btu is placed in a proper ventilated place, the best thing to do is install a fan to cool both down for maximum lifespan.
*
I mounted it on the wall without fan in my store room and so far after a month it is still not hot at all. My DIR-615 is in a cabinet with PC vent fan blowing at it and it just barely warm. Only STB in living room is hot even on standby.

Zero entry fee, means I do not have to pay a single cents until my line is activated? first payment would be the monthly charge right? The streamyx line will be auto terminated or I have to do it myself?
*
Don't trust them to auto terminate. Mine were still active two weeks after Unifi installation and I've to visit TMPoint to terminate. I took them another week to actually terminate it and I've to pay 3 weeks of subscription for nothing mad.gif

Yea residential can apply for biz packages.People in this thread had done so. It just weird that paying extra rm50 can get you unlimited/ummetered bandwidth.
*
Need to also look at what they don't get..free phone calls and IPTV. If one don't need these two bundles, one is free to convert to Biz package after contract is over.

Has anyone tried subscribing the IPTV platinum package yet? I pressed the green button but did not go all the way, scared since it is not officially released yet until 24/3, still in hidden section.
