Anyone here using AM Bank Credit Card?

Just 1 to know anyone got the Cash Back since the promotion started? Bcos just confirm it is real....

Because the total pool is RM 2 000 000 for 10 mths. From June 2011 to March 2012....

Its real but be aware of the fine terms and conditions.

1. Rebates given in spending blocks of RM100 for non-petrol and RM50 for petrol, means you get nothing if you spend short of RM100, and you will get nothing for anything more than RM100 and less than RM200.

2. Limit to RM80 per month per customer, first come first serve.

To benefit you really have to do some planning (to spend more than RM100 if its for non petrol), as well as take some risks (that the rebate hasn't run out for the month).

Yah, this was just discussed at ronnie's How Much Cash Back I Earned Thread. The 20% cash back started months back and will run to March 2012. I have written about the 20% cash back in June 2011 in my blog titled AMBank Credit Card Promo where I mentioned that best chances of getting cash back is on the 1st Saturday of every month and the next day your chances gets slimmer and don't hope to get any cash back if you swipe on the last weekend of the month.

Actually I don't know if this matter deserves a new topic, it will be same as ronnie's thread where people will just report how much cash back they earn.

ronnie, how about you rename your thread to Credit Card Cash Back - report your cash back and promos.

I do think it is good if someone can list and update all the current cash back offers from different cards and ronnie is good for the job (doing a wonderful job for OCBC TMC), just don't know if he wants to update so many threads, hahaha.

i swipe ambank card only on 1st saturday of the month, before 9am, then can only get the cashback, seriously

this is bcoz, only the first 2,500 swipes (that meet the terms & conditions) will get the cashback.

i pump petrol at saturday 00:01 then go to tesco at 8am, finished paying by 8:30am usually.

(and yea, noticed another people paying there @ tesco also using ambank card)

Your petrol tank not more than RM 100...

Then let say he lucky, groceries at Tesco RM 100, cash back 20% = RM 20

Total RM 32.50.....

if i'm not mistaken, you should talking about me. Yes, i almost max out Am Bank 20% cash back every month since their last year promo started.
I usually spent on the first week of the month either Sat or Sun. I'll pump RM100 petrol (Petronas & not Caltex because i feel petronas fuel give my car better power) and spend RM300 at either Tesco, Jusco or Giant to stock up one whole month groceries for a family.

1st case scenario
If you are aware, sometime Tesco do give RM10 voucher for every RM100 you spend at Star paper ads. With these Tesco vouchers, i'll perform three separate payment of RM100 each in order to fully max out Am Bank and Tesco promo. In other word, total RM300 spend at Tesco giving me back saving of RM90 (saving of 30%).

2nd case scenario
Happen on Jusco sales promo for members whereby entitle to extra 5% discount on supermarket items. I'll stock up all daily needs if the price is really cheap. Eg: 1 bottle of shampoo normal price RM12.90, promo RM8.90 + 5% (must purchase with member card) = RM8.45 per bottle (saving of 35%). Usually, i'll buy ten bottles to stock up for the whole family. Look into others product too such as milk, milo, coffee and others if they are really cheap. And don't forget to check the expiry date before you buy because you are going to use it for long time if you stock it up

I agree that it's not easy to spend so much on groceries if you are single. However, Tesco, Giant and Carrefour do sell others product such as electrical, garment, furniture and etc...By having a proper planning in advance, each first week of the month i am able to save at least RM80 for my spending. What to do? Have to save since all the price is shooting up due to inflation.

Petrol is in a block of RM 50 ma, so petrol how u swipe 2X? dun tell me u go there with 2 car.....

How u pay 3x times just in 30 mins time? is there 3 different ppl shopping?

This is the only reason why i still keep my Am Bank cc card. Beside this 20% cash back promo, during the month of Aug 11 i've made a purchase of RM16200 and convert it to 0% flexipay for 9 months. So, i keep the money in FD and pay the bank back monthly while enjoying FD interest from bank.

This is where i learn from bro Gen-X. I have read all his article in his blog and learn so much on how to fully utilize the cc benefit... Thank you bro Gen-X for sharing with us his experience.

Separate those groceries into 3 groups and make 3 payment transaction (with tesco voucher) at the same cashier counter, no need 30 min time or 3 different ppl shopping.

By the way, i do tried before spend on the second week Sun and still entitle to the 20% cash back. Maybe that time the promo just started and not much people aware about it. But now, i think better to spent on the first week Sat of the month in order to have higher chances.

Regarding these block thing, if i fill petrol direct Rm100 ngam ngam do i get Rm10 or Rm20 rebate? Or need to swipe twice rm50 + rm50 ?

if refer to AMBG t&c, swipe rm200 at department store will get back 20% x2 = rm40.

so petrol direct rm100 should received rm20.

for petrol is every RM50 block.
pump RM50 = cashback RM10
pump RM100 = cashback RM20
pump RM99 = cashback RM10
(read T&C for max monthly quota payout)

If you pump at Caltex, you will get another extra 5% making it a total of 25% (the highest cashback program for petrol)

I cant get any rebates even when I spend on second week of the month (Saturday). Those who wish to get rebates, only use this card on 1st Saturday and Sunday, do not bother to use it for the rest of the month.

Mine is gold car craze card, so if successfully i get total 27% = 20% cashback + 5% caltex + 2% from the card itself?

Since now did not get any cashback, i oni entitle the 2%, wat waste last month, if i know concentrate pump BHP with UOB can get 5% cashback and 1% smartcash (check in the booklet) and get the points also.....

For this card must maintain got balance oni get 5% cash rebate......

After promotion might cancel it unless got better use.....

just recently know about this advertisement (20%* cash back for ambank CC). initally interested to apply this as its really tempting, but after looking at the TnC and reading through this thread, seems hard to get that cash back as its quota is limited (first come first serve basis).

about shopping at tesco, cant we just go friday night and pay after 12am (IIANM they close at 1 am on weekend, no)?

Yes fully agree.

I got my first CC sub by my parents during my colleage days - once i started working i've been using Maybank2card and Citibank Clear - nvr look back since then.

Only promo i enjoyed was Starbuck 10% - but my Citibank Clear get me Buy 1 free 1 @ Coffee Bean. Others are RM8 for movie ticket (Buy 1 Free 1) at Cineplex some time ago. The card is now in my drawer waiting to be cancel.

You have so many choices out there for rewards by CC.

I agreed too. Why you want to choose Ambank btw? If your salary meet maybank requirement choose la Maybankard 2 Gold & Platinum Cards,no annual fee,low interest rate and good cash rebate.

My sincere advice is that, if you want to do Balance Transfer - take the time to read the T&C yourself and (important) understand it.
Please don't ask anyone to read and explain it for you because there are clauses that you need to understand and agree. Someone else reading it will have a different interpretation.

When there's a gift involved in the BT - there's a always a caution.

at first i thought it only applies on smart phone, groupon credit also need balance transfer

Was gonna apply for AmBank VS and thought this is a good deal as I was looking to get a new phone as well. But the balance transfer for 36 months is really a deal breaker to me.

AmBank promotions sounds amazing when they advertise it in the BIG font, but remember to check the small font for the 'surprise' factor...
most of their cash rebate got maximum daily pool...so after 3-4pm, or even 12pm if many ppl claim the rebate, basically you can't get it anymore..

After consideration from CC dept, they will actually call to the person for verify whether interested to apply or not. Anyone has face with this matter??

i want to terminate mbf card, but after their merge with ambank, their phone customer service are really suck, they not answer the phone due to high traffic till 15 minute, i give up to call customer service and can i go to ambank to terminate mbf card ?

I applied Ambank Card on End of Dec14. Approved on Beginning of Jan15. Got it quite late, around End of Jan15. Spend according to criteria and on 11Mar15, I received the RM650 cashback! Give it a try...

Yes, online transaction is counted as retail transaction. Also, they have explicitly mentioned the exception list which is not consider as retail transaction in their TnC:

11. For purposes of this Programme, “Retail Transactions” means the purchase of any goods or services (local and international) with the use of the credit card and may, at the Bank absolute discretion, include any card transaction as may be determined by the Bank except for the following transactions:
a. Flexi Payment Plan, Easy Payment Plan, Balance Transfer, QuickCash and Cash Advance; and/or
b. Any form of refund; and/or
c. Any dispute, unauthorized or fraudulent retail transaction; and/or

the chance of getting cb is very tiny because it limited to the first 9000 successfull applicant only and the promotion already started since june last year until july this year

Just try. Their application process is very troublesome. Firstly, their Ambank webpage that let customer drop contact for their interest in applying their card will never get any call back from The bank to proceed the application. Well, left only 2 choices which is walk-in to their branch or bump into their roadshow team. I hardly see their branch and they do not have kiosk concept in the shopping mall. Let's say after you found their branch and able to submit your application. Their verification is strict, they need many supporting documents. Salary slip is not sufficient. You need to provide bank statement as well.

All-in-all, after you consider this troublesome processing, how many people will apply their card? Let's say 1500 application per month, 50% of applications are successful. It would only be 750customers per month. To get 9000 customers for this campaign, roughly need a year time. Now is almost a year since June2014.

This is my speculation. I am 1 of the successful applicant and beneficial of this campaign due to never give up spirit. Just sharing my 2cents.

I have just submitted my application to a friend of mine and hope it will be approved soon.

Jan'15. I got my cash back on Mar15.

jun 14 to jan 15 = 7th months from contest start date, still not reach 9000
jun 14 to may 15 = 11th months after contest started, next month contest ended

goodluck spending 1.6k, wish all of us get the 650 cb

My friend said it will be extended till end of the year and right now, 9000 applicants still not met. If Ambank is extending the CB promo, probably the quota is still available.

What a shame, I am indeed very interested with their World MasterCard. I tried to call them but I was told that there's only 2 ways to sign up for any AmBank credit card. The first method is by fax in your application form along with the supporting documents and the second is walk in. They don't allow online submission which is very strange these days.
