I applied an Ambank world master card from kremlin's friend on 1st July and the application has been approved when I checked the status through the IVR today.

1. Is the 300 MYR rebate with 800 MYr spending still valid? If so, can I make a single transaction with amount larger than MYR 800 to entitle for the rebate? Any SMS registration needed?

2. Is there any possibility to pledge a fixed deposit to get the visa infinite card? The visa infinite seems to be much better if compare to world MasterCard in term of the benefits.

Visa Infinite has it own promotion like upgrading the room for certain Hotel and etc.

When did you submit your application form? Had you contacted the customer service?

I submitted the application through Kremlin's friend and this may be the reason why my application
has been approved in the faster manner.

Honestly speaking, I am quite surprised that the application was approved as I am holding
credit cards from some banks, Maybank, CIMB and Hong Leong. Meanwhile, I am
applying for the Public Bank and Ambank credit card at same time.

Maybank for 5% rebate during weekend spending - Going to cut it after Aug.

CIMB for 50% fine dining discount and free coffee at Dome cafe

Hong Leong for Enrich Point - Thinking to cut it since it is replaceable by Ambank card.

AmBank - For oversea spending to earn enrich points and unlimited Premium Plaza Lounge.

Public Bank - 6% rebate for online transaction - Application in the process.

But of course, I have 0 debt and have no commitment of housing loan and car loan.

Ambank WMC and VI offer a very attractive point conversion rate for oversea spending along with unlimited Premium Plaza Lounge with 3 oversea transaction.

I would recommend you go for

Maybank VS/ 2 card premier/ world master

or

Public Bank VS

for cash rebate if you seldom travel oversea.

Pros:-

Good for traveller - attractive conversion rate for oversea spending, unlimited premium plaza lounge with condition, low interest for installment, silver MasterCard logo (I opt for a good-design credit card).

Cons:-

The minimum credit limit for Ambank World mastercard is Rm 30K (CL for VI should be higher). Most of the banks take into account of your total credit limit (and other commitment) from all other banks and prefer not to issue a card with credit limit higher than 3 times of your monthly salary. It occupies your credit limit. Although the minimum annual income for WMC is 100K as published in ambank website. However, I believe ambank favors the applicant with income 120K per annum (monthly income 10k x 3 = minimum credit limit 30k).

I called the cs and the officer seems to be never heard about this


The cs told me the card takes 7 to 14 days (from the approval date) to reach our doorstep because

AmBank delivers the credit card through the normal post instead of courier

Same here, I just received the SMS notification for approval of the application minutes ago. Maybe the people in-charge just came back from Raya holiday today, hehe.

"RM 0.00 Dr. XXX, your AmBank credit card app has been approved. The card will be sent to your delivery address within 1 week. TQ"

Exactly same case, I was told that my card was sent out on 14 July but this is contradict with the content of the sms.

Mine is WMC and I applied the card a few weeks after you.

Open a Ambank current account with RM 10 initial deposit and your problem is solved.

I used to open a current account concurrent with credit card account

so that I able to make the credit card payment through the current account.

In addition, TrueAmbank offers saving account with 2.8% interest which is quite attractive.
