Never deload on bb rows. It's a bb exercise.

And yes let's start a food thread!!!! It doesn't have to be strict meals, just cheat stuff is good too.

Well, the bottom line is, he's a trainer, not your boss. If he doesn't like the variation of the exercise you're doing (provided your form is good and all), he really can't make you do anything.

aight, thanks

QUOTE(mikehuan @ Aug 14 2011, 11:28 PM)
wait, BB row? you mean you're dropping the weights on the floor for BB rows for every rep?

are you briefly touching the floor for DL or restarting at every rep, ie, doing singles continuously? probably a video would be nice so we are at the same page here.

yeah, that's it

To ladies & gentlemen sekalian,

I want to make my mind clear on whether should I consume Glutamine and Whey Protein for active sports and physical training? Since I'm pescetarian and lacto-ovo diet person. Post session only eat egg white only. I wonder should I invest in Glutamine and Whey protein powder for speedy recovery and further growth for my strength?

Hello all, kinda need some input on what I'm doing right now.
Have been doing weight training for about 10 months now, and only seriously getting into it for the past 2 months.

I am 180cm at 73kg. I am mostly lean but have this lower belly fat which I want to get rid of. My waist size is 33 1/2 inch.
I'm choosing the cutting route at this time as I want to get my waist down and abs showing before I clean bulk up.

I train 3 times a week and doing cardio 3 times a week post work out.

My diet is:

Breakfast : 33gms oats + 1 scoop whey
Work out
Post work out: 1 scoop whey + creatinine + BCAA
Lunch : 50gms brown rice + 150gms chicky breast + 1tsp olive oil
Snack (3pm) : 50gms brown rice + 150gms chicky breast + 1tsp olive oil
Dinner (6pm) : 150gms chicky breast + veges or papayas
Snack (9pm): 150gms salmon
Prebed: 1 scoop whey

That's roughly about 1900cals.
Carbs 120gms, protein 220grams, fats 30-35gms (rough estimates)
Am I doing this right?
And if it's right, what the's time frame like in seeing visible results? Cause...damn, this hypocalorie diet is making me cranky!

Both are good supplements to have. Glutamine has anti-catabolic effects.

tbh i would rather bulk and then cut. bulking involves eating more than your maintenance calories for you to grow. to clean bulk would mean you have to count your calories to about a few hundred more than your maintenance, which i think is no easy feat. its more expensive to go thru a clean bulk too..

as for time frame, kinda depends on other different factors, genes, recovery time and workout routines? major factors there..

Talk abt calorie... HMM... According to ur carbs, protein, fats ratio; You r eating around 1600~1700Cal (C:P:F=4:4:9 cal per g).Since you said you eat around 1900 cals (probably lower), provided you are working hard enough in gym and active enough in your lifestyle. You "should" (theoretically) cut fast, this is not restrict to only fats, but mass as well.

Not a fortune teller, can't tell you how long you see the visible result.

I was 93kg, 181cm; And I'm now 77kg, waistline 33 or 33.5 inch.

I ate around 3000kcal; And then started dieting last year feb, eating only 1800kcal a day. Until I really started to train and work hard, I found I ate around 2300~2500kcal, and my progress is still much more better than eating just 1800kcal a day. And one thing is sure that I feel more energetic when eating more. I'll say to cut down fat, diet+working out hard=BEST solution.

p/s: Just some experience talking, listen at ur own risk. Body fat% drop from 28% to 16%,(last measured on Jun 2011),showing merely 4 packs,(just the outline no shape). Priority is not abs though, focus on "turtle shell" and chest.

So determination is the key, either you continue, or you eat more, work harder to compensate.

how do you encourage someone to start weightlifting? lately my mother is pretty worried over my younger bro who spends all his time in front of the pc. hes on semester break and has loads of time in his hands.. want to encourage the fella to have a healthier lifestyle and since he doesnt really play sports i suppose weightlifting is the easiest thing for him to learn and continue doing when he goes back to school in a months time.

thing is, he doesnt seem interested, not even when he has a bench and a couple of db's in the house (where he spends ALL of his time). I have taught him the basic moves, bookmarked my fave sites to get articles and advise and still no luck..

Thanks dude. As I suspected, maybe I'm not training hard enough. I'm trying to cut down my rest time in between sets and getting more serious on my cardio. Problem is it's damn tough keeping the energy up. No really aiming for ripped out abs but at least that turtle shell. Right now just the lower belly fat is damn hard to get rid of.

How about downloading or buying them muscle mags and leave them lying around?
All that marketing and curvy women can have quite an affect on a male teenager.. biggrin.gif

Otherwise, you can encourage, but it's still up to him to take it up. Best bet, is to gauge what kind of activities he likes and go from there. A person will only do it if they deem that it is beneficial to them.
