1) I think if you add another RM150, you would get better Sharp or Philips 40" TV models with built-in DVB-T2. It is shameful that Hisense/Sharp/Philips still dump obsolete models that nobody in Singapore would look at to Malaysia.
2. Singapore is fully digital and will complete anologue switch off by end of this year. After that Southern Johoreans will no longer receive Singapore TV stations unless they buy external DVB-T2 set top boxes or new TV sets with built-in DVB-T2. As you have just purchased a new TV but sadly without built-in DVB-T2 tuner, you have no choice but to buy an external DVB-T2 set top box to receive Singapore digital TV stations.

Just take a quick glance in Lazada. Definitely possible to buy Sharp 40" TV with built-in DVB-T2 tuner at around RM1k after applying discount voucher and with certain credit card promotion.
http://www.lazada.com.my/sharp-aquos-40-fu...71498.html?mp=1

I would suggest you to buy an external DVB-T2 set top box immediately to enjoy all Singapore HD digital channels.

Many of us have tried this box. It is one of the most basic and cheapest DVB-T2 set top boxes. It works fine. Its disadvantages are without having front display and manual buttons for volume and channels. So you have to solely rely on remote control.

You may up your cost by RM20 or more if you wish to have the above features.

while browsing around lazada i happen to stumble upon this item..

DVB-T2/S2 + Media player

Its a combo of DVB-T2 (terrestrial) with S2 (satellite)..manage to do a little read-ups about the term..

I understood that DVB-T2 is same like MyTV..but with DVB-S2, can i watch any free satellite program available?.based on the comment on the product link, it said that it can be used with just antenna..

any thought?.if S2 is no used or need some dish to received signal, i dont think it is useful for me..

TV broadcasting standards worldwide is either 1080i50 (Interlaced) or 720p50 (Progressive) for 50Hz countries, or 1080i60 or 720p60 for 60Hz countries.

There is no 1080p50 or 1080p60 in any mainstream TV broadcasting standards.

Good, Smart TV can utilise Frame Interpolation (soap opera effect) [MotionFlow XR for example]...
using Astro, my Sony TV can create 200Hz (200fps) give fluid motion, but... Hypptv/IPTV can't, I believe they already remove interlace and run 25fps instead of 50fps (keep both fields)

I gonna buy antenna soon!

By Malaysian law, the only legit satellite TV is Astro (in fact, the only legit DVB decoders are from Astro and MYTV only, for satellite and terrestrial respectively). However, there are a number of satellite broadcasts whose beams cover Malaysia which one can receive with DVB-S2 capable decoders connected to a satellite dish.

I connected my old antenna from which I used to watch good old analog tv, to my DVB-T2 and no channels came up after searching ohmy.gif
*
that's what I am using... the standard 75-ohm RF cable...
digital signal coming in clean and clear (I am located only 11km from KL Tower, so that may play a factor)

You're using indoor or outdoor antenna? Make sure it is UHF type for better reception.

Do you use any signal boosters to receive analogue TV? If yes, then the signal boosters might be the reason why you are unable to receive digital TV channels.
In most cases, any signal boosters are NOT required at all to receive digital TV signals. Signal reception for analogue TV and digital TV simply works differently.

Try power off your signal booster, and perform auto/manual scan to see if you can receive digital TV signals. If still cannot, try use an UHF indoor antenna to see if you can receive digital TV channels. If can, then the culprit is the connection between your antenna to your receiver.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION:

If your location has strong digital TV signals and you insists to use signal boosters, "signal overload" may occur where your receiver or TV's built-in tuner to "receive too much signals", and it will display as "No Signal". Use signal boosters only if you are desperate with the reasons such as TV transmitter tower is very very far away (e.g. 100km+) from your location, or you use splitters to split cable connection from antenna to receiver into more than one (this can weaken the signals), or your cable is old and not in good condition (better just change new cable).
*
I tried both outdoor as well as an indoor DVB-T antenna. However, both failed to get a signal.

I'm not sure about any signal boosters though. Are those installed alongside the antenna on the roof?

Is there a difference between UHF and DVB-T antenna ? I bought a DVB-T antenna from Lazada which has VHF & UHF signal receiving specification.

Are you using an UHF antenna for your indoor antenna? You tried relocate your antenna location, such as near to the window?
Have you tried receiving it using outdoor antenna?

Both Astro and Hypp TV is using 1080i50.

The motion interpolation (smooth motion) depends on the features of your TV and there's nothing gonna do with the channel provider.

Where is your location?
Did you try put your antenna near window?

For signal boosters used in outdoor antenna, yes it is installed together with the outdoor antenna at the rooftop where it commonly looks like a small orange box beneath the antenna.

In fact, there's no such thing as "DVB-T2 antenna" , "DVB-T2 enabled antenna", "Digital TV antenna" or "Full HD antenna". The only such thing is UHF antenna or VHF antenna only, with the difference of either indoor or outdoor type. Don't let those marketing gimmick confuse you when purchasing TV antennas.

There are some antenna supports reception of getting both VHF and UHF at the same time. But for digital TV, UHF is all you need as VHF won't be use for digital TV broadcast in Malaysia, as well as many other countries around the world.

Like the person said above you just need any UHF antenna. The labeling of DVB-T antenna is just marketing. The DVB-T2 digital signal received by the UHF antenna will be decoded by the DVB-T2 Receiver/Tuner in the TV or Box.

It does, I record both, Astro really follow standard, meanwhile Hypptv stream video 1080p 25fps, not mention inside settings which can change 1080i60 or 1080i50, since Android STB is much like computer which is Smart TV cannot do Frame Interpolation and FHD/4K Up-scaling.

Hypptv not doing 50fps (keep both fields) just want to reduce encoding power.
Hypptv need update their STB to output 25Hz

Is it just me that all Media Prima channels (TV3, NTV7, 8TV, TV9) display in crappy 24 fps?

TV1, TV2 and Al-Hijrah can get running 50 fps smooth...

However Kodi running LibreElec showed all channels running 50 fps and my TV automatically switched to 1080p 50Hz...
