An antenna that can receive UHF signals is all you need

To enjoy digital TV:

1) If your TV is around 2013 or newer, usually your TV should have built-in DVB-T2 tuner. Try check your TV's Installation Settings and see if you see any setting option for receiving DVB-T2. Or better, refer to your TV user manual.

2) The purpose of antenna is just receiving signals, and it is nothing gonna do with your receiver or your TV's built in tuner. It depends on the distance from your location to your nearest transmitter tower.

3) If you're sure that your TV do not have DVB-T2 built-in, then you got to buy a Digital TV set-top-box (also known as decoder) to enjoy Digital TV channels.

Is it worth buying it? Maybe.

Just to add. If you purchased premium brands like Sony and Panasonic, it is yes, their TVs manufactured after 2013 have built-in DVB-T2. However this is not always the case for brands like Hisense, Sharp and Philips that always sell dirt cheap TVs with minimum specs, where some of their low-end TVs in the market are still shamefully not equipped with built-in DVB-T2.

Just a bit curious, are these so-called low end manufacturers dumped these units without DVB-T2 from country like Singapore or Thailand (with DVB-T2 implemented) to Malaysia (yet to implement DVB-T2 officially) to clear their stock ?

Hi all. My Sharp TV got dvb-t2 decoder and I have both powered and non-powered antenna but I'm unable to get any of these stations under 666mhz and other mentioned frequency. Tried both manual and auto search. Nothing. I stay in Denai Alam, Shah Alam. Am I missing something?

Many Malaysian buyers are very price sensitive and not willing to pay higher price. That's why we still can see some lower end 32" TVs with minumum specs are quite well received in current market, like providing only one HDMI and USB port each and without built-in DVB-T2. By comparison, a new 32" Sony TV is priced at around RM1000, while a new 32" Hisense is around RM600 only.

No wonder those Chinese brands are popular here even with their minimal specs tongue.gif
