many of us never use those features anyway, especially 'smart' tv. after few years when google change the codes for youtube, all become obsolete anyway.

Are you using an UHF antenna for your indoor antenna? You tried relocate your antenna location, such as near to the window?
Have you tried receiving it using outdoor antenna?

You're using indoor or outdoor antenna? Make sure it is UHF type for better reception.

Do you use any signal boosters to receive analogue TV? If yes, then the signal boosters might be the reason why you are unable to receive digital TV channels.
In most cases, any signal boosters are NOT required at all to receive digital TV signals. Signal reception for analogue TV and digital TV simply works differently.

Try power off your signal booster, and perform auto/manual scan to see if you can receive digital TV signals. If still cannot, try use an UHF indoor antenna to see if you can receive digital TV channels. If can, then the culprit is the connection between your antenna to your receiver.

TECHNICAL EXPLANATION:

If your location has strong digital TV signals and you insists to use signal boosters, "signal overload" may occur where your receiver or TV's built-in tuner to "receive too much signals", and it will display as "No Signal". Use signal boosters only if you are desperate with the reasons such as TV transmitter tower is very very far away (e.g. 100km+) from your location, or you use splitters to split cable connection from antenna to receiver into more than one (this can weaken the signals), or your cable is old and not in good condition (better just change new cable).

Yeah I agree. From now onwards, better make sure your TV has built-in DVB-T2 tuner before purchasing any new TV sets.
After all, TVs are getting affordable these days.

Just buy dvb-t2 tuner la, less than 200/- . Still save money.

If you are using an older TV and your TV is still functioning well, there is no need to change your TV and you may just buy an external DVB-T2 set top box. If you intend to buy a new TV, then built-in DVB-T2 feature is a must in the long run. However if someone is OK to have an extra decoder taking up a little more extra space, having to use another remote control, using an additional electrical socket and consuming extra electricity, then just buy a DVB-T2 set top box besides spending money to buy a new TV without built-in DVB-T2 tuner. Do also note that DVB-T2 set top boxes in current market are mostly made in China and almost all of them are made of cheap materials (plastic body, very light weight, HDMI and USB ports easily getting out of shape).

who knows... in 1 year time then come dvb t3 and everything is obsolete again.
the tv have a longer lifespan compared to those inputs.
thus the idea of using a simple tv and external box.

there is also android based dvbt2 box.. so can do kodi + dvbt2

also realised, that hypptv is now free for everyone. can stream tv1-tv9 for free.

Woah... This aren't like those fast growing technologies like you know.
This TV broadcasting standards is something long term, and not suka suka can change one.

So far, DVB-T2 is the latest digital terrestrial TV standard for DVB. So don't worry about this technology will go obsolete tomorrow. Also, DVB-T2 itself can support UHD 4K quality channel, using HEVC codec as well. But, your receiver got to support UHD and HEVC codec in order to watch the channel.

this DVB-T2 still transmit interlaced 50Hz or already de-interlaced outputing 25fps instead of 50fps?

Can someone recommend me a signal meter gadget for dvb t2.

i just bought a new tv..without dvd-t2 built-in..live in flat, have those in-wall socket for sat,antenna,fm..autoscan give out 10channel detected..but unfortunately, channel is unwatchable..

this will work the same like myTV right?.just wondering can i received CLEAR Spore channel as well?

EDIT: only after i bought that cheap indoor antenna at Mr.DIY i can get better quality channel..

TV broadcasting standards worldwide is either 1080i50 (Interlaced) or 720p50 (Progressive) for 50Hz countries, or 1080i60 or 720p60 for 60Hz countries.

There is no 1080p50 or 1080p60 in any mainstream TV broadcasting standards.

First of all, why would you buy a new TV without DVB-T2 built-in?

Your building management may need to upgrade the MATV (Master Antenna Television, the systems for centralised antenna at the rooftop to distribute the connection to all units into the building).
In this case, just connect an indoor antenna to your TV set and see if you are able to watch the channels. It depends on the distance and other obstacles from your location to the nearest transmitter tower. If still persists, an outdoor antenna may be required.

If you receiving TV signals in Johor, you can get Singapore channels. Indoor antenna would be sufficient if you are receiving it in Johor Bahru, or outdoor antenna for outside JB area.

MyTV Basic is the free decoder to be distributed, can watch free TV and basic feature like EPG only...

MyTV Advance is the one they are selling, has a slot for smart card, can use to watch paid TV when it's available, has HBBTV feature...

The basic free TV like TV1 etc can be received in all certified decoders, including built-in one...

same here, dad receive br1m, no astro, did not get MyTV also...

for the coverage, I wonder if Sungai Lalang is in coverage? Sungai Lalang is in between Bedong and Sungai Petani (both inside coverage) and we uses both postcodes from Bedong (08100) and Sungai Petani (08000).

btw, Sungai Petani is big area, we even have 2 tesco in sg petani so not sure if it really covers all area...

1.budget limitation
-only manage to grab sharp 40" for RM850 (after voucher) from lazada..otherwise my wife only target those 32" tv..

2.indoor antenna received better quality compare to in-wall socket..
-received all 3 nation tv channel malaysia, indonesia, singapore but the quality only 45% watchable.

is singapore also using digital signal right now?.is so, standard dvb-t2 box would suffice in receiving clear program from them and locally right?.

1) I think if you add another RM150, you would get better Sharp or Philips 40" TV models with built-in DVB-T2. It is shameful that Hisense/Sharp/Philips still dump obsolete models that nobody in Singapore would look at to Malaysia.
2. Singapore is fully digital and will complete anologue switch off by end of this year. After that Southern Johoreans will no longer receive Singapore TV stations unless they buy external DVB-T2 set top boxes or new TV sets with built-in DVB-T2. As you have just purchased a new TV but sadly without built-in DVB-T2 tuner, you have no choice but to buy an external DVB-T2 set top box to receive Singapore digital TV stations.
