QUOTE(tim_1335 @ Jul 12 2017, 12:01 AM) Is there a difference between UHF and DVB-T antenna ? I bought a DVB-T antenna from Lazada which has VHF & UHF signal receiving specification. Like the person said above you just need any UHF antenna. The labeling of DVB-T antenna is just marketing. The DVB-T2 digital signal received by the UHF antenna will be decoded by the DVB-T2 Receiver/Tuner in the TV or Box. |

QUOTE(puchongite @ Jul 21 2017, 10:26 AM) I need some education on digital TV. If your outdoof antenna is UHF type, and just fallen down (but everything else intact) then just try first before buying new one. Get someone to put it back up and point towards the direction of the nearest station in relation to your house. I presume it's the Sungei Besi station for Puchong area. If my area terrace house must use a outdoor ceiling-top antenna, now to receive digital TV signal, I still need that antenna ? Reason is that my house the outdoor antenna has since broken, and called up and installers are telling me it needs a few hundred to fix it. Could I receive the digital broadcast using small indoor antenna ? Or it is going to be case to case ( area to area ) ? If don't know the direction , use google or ask around your neighbours, see if anyone already installed and follow their direction. However if your house and the station too far off or there are tall buildings or structures blocking the signal then too bad. Don't forget your TV need Dvb-t2 built in or an external decoder box and also need to scan the UHF frequencies for the signal. This post has been edited by Ngto: Jul 21 2017, 02:00 PM |

QUOTE(puchongite @ Jul 21 2017, 03:49 PM) So you are saying antenna tuned for previous analog stations need to be adjusted to different orientation for digital TV ? Yes need to align to the nearest digital transmitting station. Now all the stations go through MYTV Broadcasting co. , their service branded as myFreeview. You can try indoor ariel if you like, but puchong quite some distance from Bukit Sungei Besi station so you need a bit of luck, depending how deep into Puchong you are and obstacles blocking. QUOTE(tany @ Aug 3 2017, 08:07 PM) Don't you know different dramas/movies are filmed in different Aspect Ratios. If the original source is 4:3 as shown in your pic (Same ratio as old CRT tv), then you will see it with black bars on on the side on your modern 16:9 TV.If you want ,you can adjust your TV to zoom the screen , but then the picture will be cut off at the top part. If you just zoom the picture sideways to fill the black bars, then the picture will look distorted, everything will look flattened. |

QUOTE(truelife @ Aug 17 2017, 04:28 PM) I don't they are so ignorant to still use an extra antenna cable (ant-out) to signal out for analogue, unless they don't have an antenna to receive digital TV channels. Who said anything about analogue out being RF. By analogue out I was referring to composite RCA.Old CRT TV does not have HDMI port. But they still can connect the set top box to TV using conventional RCA (red, white, yellow). This post has been edited by Ngto: Aug 17 2017, 06:57 PM |

QUOTE(truelife @ Aug 17 2017, 10:16 PM) Analogue and digital terrestrial TV are completely two different systems. Any signal from DVB-T2 box regardless of using RCA or HDMI is still digital. Only difference is that you will get SD image and audio for HD channels if you use RCA. LOL you are a joke It's only the HDMI that receives the decoded digital signal (on/for modern HD tv), not the RCA . This post has been edited by Ngto: Aug 18 2017, 08:52 AM |
