I m getting 570kbps with crappy tmrnd.

Is it possible to get more speed with tplink since most users with tplink is generally getting more speed?

Just thinking if it is justifiable to get another router for the extra speed. Hehe. Later change Liao still same speed then pening. Hehe.

You're getting that speed on a single download or multiple downloads?

IF you are getting that speed with simultaneous downloads, then you should just use that. I only wanted to replace mine as I always have multiple downloads at the same time, and the crappy TMRND router couldn't handle it......

I think better save the $ spent on calling a wall, and use it on a new router sweat.gif

You know why Unifi Call center give you wait?

They assume that you are using unifi deck phone to call them for free.

Hence, they think you call for free, so you will be waited.

Their Deck Phone, call TM number for free + free to their call center.

If you are using Handphone to call, beware 1 minute RMx.xx Ringgit.

found out something interesting after some searching and reading....

Each and every router have different NAT table size, RAM and processor. In order to choose a good router for torrents.

The router has to have a large NAT table size, good amount of RAM and processor to handle the heavy connections loads.

The user will also need to tweak the # of established connections, namely peers. More peers doesn't mean faster connection, should there be a bottle neck somewhere in between. The download speed will deteriorates..

Damn I wish I'm at home now

The bandwidth and download speed limited to what you paid for. If you subcribed 5Mbps, you only get 5Mps + 10% of burst (<-just my imigination). So, if you get better router, it doesn't mean you can get faster speed.

I am using rtorrent for torrenting and set up to 40 peers' connection. I also throttle UPLOAD speed to 5 kBps only (unless you are seeding)... smile.gif This torrent client can handles multiple torrents at the same time, but , it still limited to what I set earlier.

Yes, many peers does not mean faster download. The higher the conection, the more load added to the tiny router and degrades the torrent's quality and experience. smile.gif Hence, even a single HTTP download can use used up the all bandwidth.

You need higher number of SEEDERs. Most of the time, I only download torrents which have the most numbers of seeders.

TQ.

Agreed but I should be getting 400kbps of DL speed. I achieved this with a single file, but not on multiple files. Multiple files will establish MORE connections. Hence, in my understanding, will put great amount of stress on the router.

If the router is crappy or lowgrade unit, then it will just slow down like pull a bull uphill lol

before the installer install the unifi, i went to get a better router TP-Link to replace the TM RG.

in fact, i didnt face any problem on the TM RG now. been online straight 3 days without switching it off... no disconnection problem. so i just put my TP-Link aside first...

good news. problem rectified.

due to my old skool laptop, i change the channel from auto to channel 9. if i went to channel 13, or the recommended 10, the laptop wont be able to look for it.

as for my dad's pc, i've changed the usb wifi adapter. turns out thats the cause of the problem (the old usb wifi was backdated 2005 tongue.gif)

so far, im loving my Unifi. No service interruption whatsoever.....yet.

Its not a hack per say - someone managed to get the passwords and reconfigure the modem. Whilst the sharing is appreciated I would not want to mess around with the modem as that is very much TM's side of things.
