Hey guys.. just got my unifi installed a few days back.. was damn awesome on the first day.. getting 500kbps torrent download on a single file..

then the speed degraded followed by some intermittent disconnections, which will be resumed after 1-2 mins

it may occur at a very frequent rate.. when it occurs, the LED of VOIP turns red, then everything got disconnected

called the CS, not much info other than not seeing any issue, connection established for XX mins thats all

after some frequent hassling from me, finally they said they will arrange a technician to check things out..

I'm not sure but is this related to an overheated huawei BTU? LAN connection seems to be established so I can rule out router's fault

hey guys.

I've read the guides and articles of KLseet.

Was looking to replace the crappy RG-TMRND router.

I saw TP-Link TL-WR841N V7 and TP-Link TD-W8960N. Both priced at RM99 & RM139 respectively in lowyat Czone.

Wanted to know what's the difference between the two, was it only the one with required custom firmware and the other without ?

Please use your own router & throw the TM Dlink, try ASUS-RT-N56U I use already, so far so good.

Connection to my PC, Laptop & my phone no problem

When you off power, restart the router and modem, the router boot-up time also very fast.

24/7 Wifi connected with my PC and my XPS for few month already never restart all of my computer and unifi.

Now you can go C-Zone find "Boss Miss Chock Teng" ask her discount and if you unifi, just ask for modem for UNIFI version.

They have sell 2 version of TP-Link, 1st is Streamyx, 2nd is Unifi.

Chose wisely. anyway can be reinstall to ether Streamyx or unifi, just flash the firmware.

klseet for more information

guys, i tried downloading some torrents.. the speed is seriously avg at 100kbps with all files combined. I tried downloading a single file but it still hovers around 100++ kbps

Hence, im wondering if a crappy router affects the speed? I'm currently using the RG-TMRND crap router...

do you think that it affects the torrent speed by using the crappy RG-TMRND? I read something about some sucky routers doesnt have the ability for heavy 1000+ torrent connections.. what do you think ?

the wireless is crappy.. if you're connecting via lan, it's working as usual with full speed.. and it depends on your seeder and/or peer of course.. if you're opening too much unnecessary connections, then yes, your speed will deteriorate further.. same as in normal life, if i give you too much task than you can handle, you're going to explode, same goes as your router in this case it will jammed or restart itself or something wierd.. tongue.gif

Good point there mate.. i might be too greedy and opened up too much connections..........

Can anyone confirm that the default TM router is unable to handle multiple simultaneous connections? I've heeded advices that it might be my utorrent configs but I've optimized the bandwidth so not much unnecessary connections will be established.

But this is what I've observed so far.

1 single file = 300-500kbps
3 files = avg 20-30 each = total approx 100kbps++

I've also tried direct downloading single file, the speed exceeded the speed limit (5m). So in my understanding, the router doesn't have any issues handling traffic from a single connection, but multiple simultaneous connections will deteriorates the download speed.

I've calculated the proper speed that I should be getting.

5000kbps / 8% = 400kbps

So the speed of a single file is proper and normal. But multiple downloads macam deteriorates the overall DL speed which is only 100kbps++

Any thoughts ? blink.gif

Ur case like even worse than DIR 615  shakehead.gif
I'm on dir-615 can achieve full speed on torrent through wifi but... sometimes it will dc me from the router == reconnect wifi will do.
*
Exactly bro.....btw I found a chart that benchmarks router on the max simultaneous connections... DIR-615 is NOT REALLY THAT BAD. It says capable of 200 max simultaneous connections.

I can't really be sure about that RG-TMRND router since its too crappy to even be in the list......

btw... are you torrenting 1 file at a time or multiple simultaneously ?

I just got the UNiFi recently (They gave a Motorola phone instead of DECT) after the long wait since last march in Bukit Antarabangsa area. All I can say is 3 words:

It's a Miracle!
*
Great to hear that you've got your unifi. Have you tried torrenting ? If yes, please refer to my post above and provide the details thanks.

And by the way, DECT merely meant Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications which is cordless in layman terms. So we're all given a motorola phone I think.. cool2.gif

My torrent is now up to 700kbps. It's good that my remaining anime episodes download is now back up after suffering the download using Streamyx line which is slow.
That's what I said.

Good good..... I'm actually torn between buying or not buying another router to replace the shitty one. BTW how many files you managed to run simultaneously and still getting 500-600kbps ?

My DL speed deteriorates when I allow 2 concurrent downloads... which is bloody ridiculously slow..... 30kbps & 80kbps respectively = 100++ only.....

I m getting 570kbps with crappy tmrnd.

Is it possible to get more speed with tplink since most users with tplink is generally getting more speed?

Just thinking if it is justifiable to get another router for the extra speed. Hehe. Later change Liao still same speed then pening. Hehe.
*
You're getting that speed on a single download or multiple downloads?

IF you are getting that speed with simultaneous downloads, then you should just use that. I only wanted to replace mine as I always have multiple downloads at the same time, and the crappy TMRND router couldn't handle it......

I think better save the $ spent on calling a wall, and use it on a new router sweat.gif
