QUOTE(rizvanrp @ Jul 4 2011, 12:12 PM) Could you run a longer test for around 12 hours? There seems to be a pattern with the 3 hours burst period -> 3 hours 1mbps cap -> 3 hours burst. It may be TM's new congestion avoidance system which would mean they're using a 2 hour+ sample window. Is your local traffic affected (speedtest.net) during the 1mbps period? Downloaded something like 20Gb over a couple hours window (not Torrent - using Steam client). First 10+Gb was fine then it trickled down to less than 20% speed. Downloads from other sites (who are on T1 lines @ US) seem fine. Definitely see traffic shaping in place (more likely TM side) as when I stopped the Steam download and restarted a couple of hours later speeds seem fine for first hour then dropped. Speed test and ping tests while all this was happening did not report anything unusual. Hope this helps.

QUOTE(ProComplex @ Jul 11 2011, 12:13 PM) On the DLink router, the orange internet light next to the power light will be on. Have to call Unifi help center to reset the port. Normally will be back up within 2 -3 hours. Intermittent problem with the D-Link router. Try to get TM to replace it. What I noticed with Unifi (unlike Streamyx) is that we do not get as much of the need to port reset when there are issues. I spent a good couple of weeks with Unifi folks when I had issues with unexplained connectivity (only internet could not reconnect until hours later however IPTV was fine all the while) after a power reset of the router. To the extent that I had some discussions with the network people directly since the call centre was unable to assist further. The new router immediately fixed the problem. And its weird because I ran every check on the old router and could not find anything wrong with it. Also noticed bad latency (pings and jitters) from 8pm till midnight on international connections. Started around 2 weeks back. Traceroutes seem to indicate congestion only at the first hop. This post has been edited by XPS: Jul 11 2011, 06:58 PM

QUOTE(SimonsayZ @ Jul 14 2011, 05:09 PM) Im using unifi with ps3 now. With the current crappy/unstable speed and lousy customer service from unifi now, Id wish I was on streamyx. believe me, streamyx is better now. Hopefully end of the year they sort everything out. Better you hold on to streamyx for now. Was on Streamyx (4MB) package for a long time and Unifi is way better when it comes to online gaming. One of the more "recent" common problem is 802.1b/g/n 2.4ghz network congestions and the wide-channel option set at DIR-615 by default makes it even worse. Switch to 5ghz or interference suppression option if your router supports it seems to help. I know it does as there are like a dozen wifi networks where I am located and you see like so many networks sharing the same frequency spectrum

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Jul 16 2011, 09:24 PM) Not everyone needs dual band If you have more than 3 wifi networks in your area (2 if people use wide-channel) you will find the 2.4ghz to experience some congestion especially if their signal is strong. How bad is a matter of a number of factors and you can get away with 2.4ghz if your speed seems fine and don't experience connection drops etc

QUOTE(P.I.M.P @ Jul 23 2011, 11:23 AM) What router would be compatible? Cisco? Belkin? Or connect an Apple Extreme or Cisco router in bridge mode to the default TM router. Turn off wifi on TM side since you won't need that anymore.

QUOTE(Came|toe @ Jul 25 2011, 12:11 AM) Anyone facing similar issues with 1 and 2? My modem router is a black+glossy one with TM logo. Didn't change much settings apart from the SSID and WPA key. Anything else I need to do? Are you testing the speed via LAN cable or Wifi ? IPTV should be smooth all the time from the start.

QUOTE(Came|toe @ Jul 25 2011, 01:32 AM) Wifi. I'm connected wirelessly as the router is in the hall and my laptop is in my room. No issues with the speed anyway. It's just the spikes Did your connection get better after a few days when it "stabilizes"? By the way this TM N-router is giving me crap signals. And I don't live in a huge condo.... sheesh A number of possible issues. Firstly, could be wifi congestion. 2.4 ghz spectrum supports 3 networks and some level of interference starts when this is exceeded. If you are in my location, seeing something like 12 networks is not uncommon, interference will affect your bandwidth etc etc. Secondly, whilst I am going to replace the TM router at some point, my current setup is still using the TM router and having an Airport Extreme connected in bridge mode. Two months of testing so far and everything seems fine. Get a high end consumer (or business) grade router and you will find less issues with network connections. Run multiple devices on the networks and everything works lout of the box.

QUOTE(bahathir @ Aug 11 2011, 11:34 PM) Its not a hack per say - someone managed to get the passwords and reconfigure the modem. Whilst the sharing is appreciated I would not want to mess around with the modem as that is very much TM's side of things.
