Added on June 29, 2011, 3:04 pmok..saw C-zone selling for RM 479..

Do C-Zone sell the ASUS-RT-N56U with unifi firmware?
So that we no need to flash the rounter and don't need to take the risk to spoil the modem.
The modem is somehow high-end & expensive then TP-Link or Dlink or even Marcrotik.
Hope any shop can sell this good product that end user just plug & play.
No need to do much advance setup. Such as, user friendly.

Yes, when you bought the router, You can request them to flash the Unifi Firmware.
When you go back just need to key in user name & password only!!!  nod.gif

Last week I go C-Zone, they said they not even know ASUS-RT-N56U can use in unifi....when I asked
The sales person is Miss Teng or called Chock.

Your macrotik still need to use wifi rounter (additional). Secondly, the transfer rate not so good compare with Asus.
Do check on http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=82&Itemid=78

I have the RT-N56U flashed with the latest Unifi build, it's setup as a secondary wifi AP next to my Mikrotik RB750G. You can't really compare the two. The Mikrotik is for power users who need complete control over their network down to the raw packet level.. and you need to team it with a wifi AP anyway. The RT-N56U is geared towards home users who want a powerful but all-in-one and easy to use replacement for the DIR-615 (inbuilt USB printer/filesharing/bittorrent and 128MB RAM for P2P).

I'm really impressed with the RT-N56U's dual wifi AP setup though, definitely one of the best wifi routers I've used so far and with ASUS giving us full Unifi support.. you don't have to hack it to make it work with Unifi.

Best setup IMO = RB750G + RT-N56U
*
But for me ASUS RT-N56U are enough for me, i'm not using in my company.
We using at home, end user, simply easy, user friendly.
But Marcotik the support not so good, you need to well know about macrotik, if not if you buy and don't know how to use, it's just a crape.
Unless Macrotik configure every rounter for their product and put wifi on it....
No point that ASUS RT-N56U already rounder, you still need to buy addition rounder.
In addition, if too many device on my desk, it's look messy and it's electrostatic and carbon pollution on your house raise.
Those Electronic device need minimize, don't use much, it's may jeopardize your health.
Safe your power too, eco friendly.
If Asus come out the Unifi modem integrate inside their router more good, if marcrotik can do, i believe all people buy if the price is reasonable.
If you already own a Macrotik, then is different story, you need to use or just keep in your store, no others choice.

Under section "My Support" click "Create a new service enquiry"
Report it using this method should be better.

Same chip Ralink RT3052F SoC

TM-RND Router FCC ID: YB5-RGTMRNDGEN

TM's DIR-615 Gx FCC ID: KA2DIR615G1

Looking at those photos submitted to FCC really low quality, really no class at all  doh.gif

Although the RG-TMRND board design & materials used slightly different and it seem to suggest the antenna gain of 3dBi, couple with "unknown" firmware creator, I personally have no high hope on this device .....  sweat.gif

Come-on TM, is this the only thing you can do?  You guys seem never learn .... yawn.gif
I'm sure there are many manufacturers out there willing to produce better and more choices for consumers, rather than this unknown joker "TM" router.

It's really unnecessary to waste money by setting up RND trying to re-inventing the wheel, afterall router it's NOT TM's core business, and it can NEVER be, period.  shakehead.gif
*
I think this new Router more worse then before, it's just outlook stylish inside shit.
Afterall, TM is still monopoly. what we can do?
We do have a choice,
1st. Don't use Unifi?
2nd. Use Unifi with their stupid equipment?
3rd. Use Unifi but use your own equipment?
4th. Compliant a lot, and hope for they provide good router? (Impossible)

what's your experience using that?

It is same as you calling to their call center, they also create this ticket report to their technical department.
Why don't we skip calling them and by create our own report. After that they will call you to settle it.
If you call them, they make the same report also wait plus more days only call back you.

The UniFi download speed is the same regardless whether you are downloading from local server or non-local server?
*
No, dependence on local or international and the server quality or server internet line on the other site.
Too many factor to consider, for example you download from Africa, what do you expect the speed?

i have  exactly the same problem with you. same hardware.

i just got unifi vip 5 and my problem is... the wifi, if connected to laptop the line is ok. but if connected to smartphones, in my house i have 2 androids phones  a galaxy tab and a BB, the wifi is really terrible. always no network la.., network error la.., try again la.., keep on loading page la.., bla bla bla...

the best part is, when i called the stupid unify cs, they said... our support is only for connection to pc/lappy. for smartphones u have to call the phone company. bloody hell. bodoh betul!!  mad.gif  mad.gif  mad.gif

i'm thinking of changing to tp-link router but not sure if it'll make much difference.
*
Please use your own router & throw the TM Dlink, try ASUS-RT-N56U I use already, so far so good.

Connection to my PC, Laptop & my phone no problem

When you off power, restart the router and modem, the router boot-up time also very fast.

24/7 Wifi connected with my PC and my XPS for few month already never restart all of my computer and unifi.

hey guys.

I've read the guides and articles of KLseet.

Was looking to replace the crappy RG-TMRND router.

I saw TP-Link TL-WR841N V7 and TP-Link TD-W8960N. Both priced at RM99 & RM139 respectively in lowyat Czone.

Wanted to know what's the difference between the two, was it only the one with required custom firmware and the other without ?
*
Now you can go C-Zone find "Boss Miss Chock Teng" ask her discount and if you unifi, just ask for modem for UNIFI version.

They have sell 2 version of TP-Link, 1st is Streamyx, 2nd is Unifi.

Chose wisely. anyway can be reinstall to ether Streamyx or unifi, just flash the firmware.

klseet for more information

You know why Unifi Call center give you wait?

They assume that you are using unifi deck phone to call them for free.

Hence, they think you call for free, so you will be waited.

Their Deck Phone, call TM number for free + free to their call center.

If you are using Handphone to call, beware 1 minute RMx.xx Ringgit.
