another problem faced by me now.
my installer came this morning and installed Unifi VIP10. But after the installation, I'm having a problem with the RG. My PC somehow couldn't detect the Wifi connection but it only can connect to the RG when the installer manually setup the configuration. meaning instead of search-and-connect, he setup manually using Manage Wireless Network (Win 7). FYI, im using DLink DWA-110. My WinXP laptop (old skool Fujitsu) didn't have any problem with this, but in order for my PC to work, it need to set to 9 wireless channel, but then it affected my laptop (in which it couldnt see the AP using WinZeroConfig). Then, my dad's computer couldnt access the AP since it only up to WPA PSK. But, I believe WPA/WPA2 shares the same encryption, right? I suspected either the RG was spoiled, or the Wireless Security Mode made this. Previously, im using Streamyx, on DLink DSL-G604T, on WEP. All seems fine within that period. |

QUOTE(nonameNo @ Aug 8 2011, 05:27 PM) it depend. sometimes older laptop cannot support WPA/WPA2 type of encryption (correct me if im wrong). thanks for the reply man...you can login to RG and do some testing. 1. open the wireless connection to WEP. test it. 2. set it to WPA/WPA2 mode. test it. if WEP can work and WPA/WPA2 mode cannot, then either setting are not correct or the pc/notebook not support it. you can login to RG using http://192.168.0.1 ... ID - admin and Passwd - <blank> but i have made discovery. i shows that my laptop (old skool) can only detect the connection if i set the wireless channel to 9, but my computer cant detect it. my dad's computer kept shfiting connected-disconnected repeatedly. sigh. i requested Unifi to replace my RG. they said within 24hrs their technicial will come over to my house to rectify the problem, and replace the unit if necessary.... i dont have friends who is free tonight so i can try to see whether if its true the RG have problems...but it points that way tho'.... |

QUOTE(nonameNo @ Aug 8 2011, 07:38 PM) before the installer install the unifi, i went to get a better router TP-Link to replace the TM RG. good news. problem rectified.in fact, i didnt face any problem on the TM RG now. been online straight 3 days without switching it off... no disconnection problem. so i just put my TP-Link aside first... due to my old skool laptop, i change the channel from auto to channel 9. if i went to channel 13, or the recommended 10, the laptop wont be able to look for it. as for my dad's pc, i've changed the usb wifi adapter. turns out thats the cause of the problem (the old usb wifi was backdated 2005 so far, im loving my Unifi. No service interruption whatsoever.....yet. |
