Wow finally launched. I hope the price is lower than the RM136k.

I have just driven the Hyundai Tucson and I must admit the car is very smooth and quiet on the highway. It feels solid. The only downside is it feels underpowered.

I hope the sportage has a better pickup and pricing.

Yeah the Tucson feels very solid! I think all SUV which has a 2.0L engine will be slightly underpowered. But Tucson has a 2.4 variant rite? Abit mahal for 2.4. hahaha. I also hope the sportage has better power than CR-V. and also Rm136,000 and below. hehe

the price should be 120k to make it attractive.

136k? why not tucson? tucson is one class higher than sportage even if they are using the same body.

i think 120k is the price. the older gen also selling below 110k only.

anyway, its a very very handsome SUV with good looking steering wheel

I think the Sportage would be a good choice because the equipment offered from Kia is better.

I tested the Mitsubishi ASX the main complain is the back seat angling is very steep. I took my children on a trip to Penang and they are quite comfortable at the back with the Tucson.

The good thing is that the Tucson feels solid just like the ASX when driven over potholes. I believe the Sportage should be the same.

As for pricing I think should be lower because Sime Darby gave a discount of RM5k.

I also wished the price should be rm120k hahaha..anyways tuscon high line cost rm139,000 I think. And Kia sportage has more features than the tucson. and yeah agree it's a very handsome SUV..best looking among all!

Mitshubishi ASX? I haven't drove it before but sat inside and IMO it's very plain

We test drove the sportage in Singapore and I have to say it's very very solid and quite. The back seats are comfortable and there is lots of headroom to spare(I'm 184cm)

Oh they offering rm5k discount? Wow then price should be abit lower than the sportage.

Naza Kia is gearing up for the launch of the all new Sportage, which is scheduled for next week (21 June). This is the third gen Kia Sportage that made its debut at last year’s Geneva show (view our post and gallery here), and it features the brand’s new design language that has won many fans. This also means that it’s not recognisable as a successor to the current car, which was introduced here in facelift form last April.
The new Sportage will be powered by Hyundai-Kia’s Theta II 2.0-litre petrol engine with Dual CVVT, producing 166 PS and 197 Nm of torque. The transmission is a six-speed automatic with maunal override. These compare well with the the segment leading Honda CR-V’s 150 PS/190 Nm and five-speed auto.
The feature list will include LED day time running lights, a large panoramic sunroof, rear view camera display, dual zone auto air con, Bluetooth, AUX, iPod and USB connectivity as well as a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Hyundai is only slightly better than KIA interms of Brand name. This point is only valid in Malaysia, and maybe in Singapore as well.

Hmm well Kia sportage is a CBU too but I guess the price is rm136k..it stated 140k and below maybe got two variant? Haha..hmm brand perception to me it's the same? I think there is still alot of ppl thinking Korean cars are not good cars..

If you book now before the launch I think u can get the car a week after the launch! Pay rm1000 deposite to secure your booking..I don't think there is a waiting list now..but you can head over to showroom after the 21st to see the car..not sure whether can test drive anot.. we tested the car at Singapore and it was great!

My SA told me evening he will collect the car to bring to the showroom..so I suspect the press media launch will be at Glenmerie.. Since the koup media launch was at Glenmerie

Hope the current generation of Kia's are better than previous which had endless problems. I also know of many Forte owners who are starting to have problems with their gearboxes, etc already. Not the kind of scenario Kia would want to have if they wish to improve their brand image here in Malaysia.

But i would suggest waiting till the Hyundai Avante is launched in less than 2 months time. That car is really doing well and so far it seems to be way better than the Forte. Hope the prices are competitive.

I think the price is too high for a Kia. They should have priced it about RM 130K max only. Despite its good looks and specs, the price will kill it. We cannot anticipate the success of the Sportage based on the Forte as the main reason the Forte is selling well in Malaysia is because of its lower pricing together with its good specs. Without good pricing, Korean makes will not sell well. That's a fact.

Look at the Hyundai Sonata for example. How many do you see on the road today? Despite all its hype, it only sold 1,367 units this year compared to the much older Toyota Camry which sold 2,599 units. Specs alone couldnt boost its sales. If they had priced it lower by about 7K, its sales would have been much better for sure.

Lets hope the Hyundai AVante doesnt meet the same fate.

the avante 1.6 in s'pore is price at 97k...as for forte,its 85k in s'pore...if we compare it in m'sia..a naza badged forte is at 85k..so its possibe the avante will reach 100k here in m'sia...hopefully its lower than that

I have been using Forte about 1 1/2 years and not incurred any problems at all. Since my car is the ealiest batch, i have purchased the extended warranty to cover up to 5 years with unlimited mileage. I plan to fully use it till the end of the 4th year before selling off with remaining of one year warranty. I anticipate 4 years of trouble free motoring from Forte with low maintainance cost.
My next target buy would be Kia K5 with 5 years warranty too

Have you read the terms and conditions of the extended warranty? As far as i know the extended warranty only covers certain parts unlike the normal warranty.

Yes. Exactly my stand as well. RM 138K++ is not a good price for a Korean make even though its a CBU.

So far ive been quite accurate about my predictions and assessments. When the Forte was launched, many ppl said it will thrash the Vios, Altis and Civic but clearly thats not the case now. Forte has only managed to match the sales of the Altis while the Vios and Civic are still miles ahead.

Same thing was said about the Sonata when it was launched. Many said it will thrash the Camry due to its impressive design and good specs but today the Sonata sales are still 50% less than the ageing Camry. When the new Camry is launched next year, what will happen to the Sonata then?

So im now saying this about the Kia Sportage. They made a big mistake pricing it so high. If it had been RM 130K or less, it would have been another revelation like the Forte. But Naza was too greedy. Based on the success of the Forte they thought they can push the Sportage price higher. Typical Malaysian mentality. Greedy.

Planning to sell after 4 yrs only?? Be prepared for a massive loss in resale value my friend. May i suggest you spend your money investing in property rather than wasting it changing cars every 4 yrs?

obviously he is rich enough to do that not everyone needs to drive a p1/p2 for the rest of the life. some are rich already.
