i did bank loans, car registration number, puspakom, jpj myself and some part with the SA andgot my car within 2 weeks.

got my car pm 19th July, and went to banting, cameron highland, ipoh and back to KL. Did my 1k service yesterday.

overall experience is 5 star like how the safety rating from euro ncap, solid feel and cornering is stable.

The Dynamax AWD system works very well which make going up from Tapah to Cameron highland a fun drive, and no one vomited. Tested the AWD on demand as well and distributed power to all wheel evenly and climbing a 45 degree slope easily. Downhill 45 degree with the DBC, you can just let go the brake and concentrate on the steering, it helps you to maintain a slow speed until to the end of the slope. The HAC works well when stop and go on a slope, when you let go your brake, it prevent it from rolling backward for 1 or 2 second and allowed your foot to switch over to the accelerator and move forward.

Sound proofing is good especially at the firewall area. I did a test drive on Tucson and even it is having the same engine, you can notice the noise level from the engine and external traffic is much more lower on the sportage. The CVVT keep the engine vibration limited and you won't feel any shake on your steering wheel when the gear is on D position.

I used to owned a accord 2.4 (current model) and notice the Sportage has a better built quality, at least when i went over pot holes, it feel solid and not a loud banging sound in the accord, not sure if got to do with the locally built quality and comparing to a CBU.

The only negative part that i have is the rear compartment space is not large enough but this is due the kindness of KIA giving us a actual 18" spare rims. Second is the fuel, i haven't get anything to shout yet but will see after my 1K service. The third is that, it would be great if we get the 2.4 liter engine instead of the 2.0, no thanks to the road tax system. The 2.0 will give you a smooth ride and power to over take but going up a 45 degree, could use some additional torque.

Yes most country received the parking light on the revierse light section...
But on ours version and UK version they are blank with no wiring
At the back u will see three moulding marks where the bulbs
Just drill a small hole for the T10 bulb socket to go in enough
Quite an easy DIY stuff...
Here is some tutotrial for you...
Thanks, the DIY looks easy. Wonder why can't they just make it standard for all. Always make it difficult for us.

The LED version look nice. Did you notice that they have the slotted rotors as well? that looks cool.

Added on July 30, 2011, 1:13 pmHere’s a review on the Kia Sportage after driving it for a few days, I must say this is one of the SUV that has the WOW factor. Interior is really nice too! What a big improvement from KIA. Everything feels solid and well placed. The rear view camera, push start button, iPod connecter, leather seats, panoramic sunroof adds to the appearance of the Sportage’s interior. Damn this car feels like a RM250k car!*seriously*

The 2.0 theta II SIX speed engine which produces 166HP proves to be sufficient for the Sportage. Acceleration and gear change is good and smooth but I can’t push the car to it’s maximum as its still in the “break in” stage. Soundproofing is decent, travel more than 110kmph and you can hear the wind noise entering from the panoramic sunroof. Handling wise, the Sportage performs like a sedan. When I drive this car, I feel like I’m driving my forte thanks to the Sportage’s suspensions.

Equipment wise the Sportage has a bundle of it, such as Bluetooth, Reverse Camera, Shift-tronic, Air conditioning with air purifier, light escort, Day time running lights, 7 speaker sound system(Very GOOD), AWD(all wheel drive), side folding mirrors, and for safety the sportage has ESP, TSC pack, 6 Airbags, Hill start assist, Hill decent control, Roll over sensor, Auto headlamps.

About fuel consumption I can’t give a exact figure now, will update you all after the first service. However a FULL tank of petrol will cost you around RM 80- RM 90.

As you all know I sent the sportage for PPS(Paint Protection System) treatment (exterior and interior) and what can I say is, worth every cent.  Cleaning the car is such a breeze now. You can experience “water bleeding” effect after the treatment so the water won’t dry and leave a stain on your car after rain. It comes with 5 years warranty against oxidation, loss of shine. Highly recommended to get PPS treatment done on your new car.

Hope this review is sufficient enough and do ask if u have any questions wink.gif

Enjoy the pictures below.

The AWD will be disable if speed running over 60km/h and only running on front wheel, so the AWD shouldn't be the factor.

i see from the display i am doing about 11L/100KM. I have been very polite with throttle and driving smooth and thought driving on the highway would allowed higher distance. anyone can share their millage?

QUOTE(sugen @ Jul 31 2011, 08:01 AM)
According to KIA official Fuel consumption statement on Theta II KIA SPORTAGE as below. Which is 8.8L/100KM For combine driving.
So RM90/ 360KM= 25 cents/KM. Reasonable for AWD. So, RM90/1.95= 41Liters.  41Liters /360KM= 8.78KM per Liter petrol. Means, 1 Liter petrol can go 8.78KM.

Added on July 31, 2011, 11:07 pmIf the system is the same with all the region then we have the AWD system call Dynamax which constantly monitor the moving condition and it will be permanently off when hit above 50 or 60km/h (not sure if the mark at the speedo meter referring to that) there is no actual document on that but saw a video which show how it works.

here is the link to the video

http://youtu.be/j6q37mnJpu0

Just read the manual, it just mention that it will be on Auto mode and a button for on demand.

QUOTE(sugen @ Jul 31 2011, 06:05 PM)
Bro,
Read the manual, it says the AWD is disable all the while and will only kick in when it detect while spin off or lost traction.  Pls correct me I am wrong. I forgot which page on the book already.

Added on July 31, 2011, 11:40 pmNice! both car also shinning shinning and the forte looks like a very new car.

i am still trying to find more information on the system but seem not much available. The SA told me when he went for the sportage training that being told that the system will be disable after that speed as it consider that you on a stable road condition so switching to 2 wheels drive to safe fuel but i need to find more information on that.

QUOTE(sugen @ Aug 1 2011, 03:53 PM)
Thanks for sharing Bro... about the manual is on page 5-23.. So Dynamax is correct. means 4wheel will be disable above 50/60KM?

really??u use 95 or 97??
Im using 95 at the moment get 10.5L/100km also very high
Also more on city drive only
Most car after first service will get better FC..
So now not accurated one
*
i was using 95 for my first few tank then switch to 97 and on my second tank now.

full tank of 97 and drove down to ipoh and did some city driving, 300km 35 liter

does that means 97 do better km then 95? but city driving haven't manage to get another accurate comparison with the 260km for 41liter that i did.
