At first I oso think that 235 is too wide for this car, but the thinking that it's quite a tall car + big, downsizing to smallerr width might sacrifice the stability.... Safety first yo!!

something to consider between aesthetic and practicality lor. like u mention, difference not that great, but honestly, i think fc will be improved in the long run. can't really tell difference on the looks between 18" and 17" rims anyways.
actually dun need to compromise on width of tyre. the closest replacement to the stock tyre 235/55-18 is 235/60-17. this tyre size only affects 0.5% on the speed compared to the stock tyres. new tyres are thicker, so will feel less bumpy on potholes and humps. something to really consider...
