yes, u can fix it - it is a setting issue.

go to settings/player settings/videos... u see hardware acceleration/media codec (surface) - disable it (but keep the other on).

this is a kodi-hardware thingy.

do read kodi thread, plenty of things to learn about this rather complex app.

Yes, and then there is the Wrapper etc, wth is a wrapper? Its OK, I'll read about it.

I quiet shy to ask too many question, unker like me sometimes need fast help, but I'll read this thread first

The thread in Futeko is quite technical for me, but I do check it out too

I'll try out our method later today, thanks again

wrapper...

top post:
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1849024/+2180

as it is, u need not use the wrapper.

but the next firmware should have the wrapper working well for audio pass thru for kodi17 streams - if u hv a need for that.

futeko... yes, some of the things discussed there will be too much for a new user. biggrin.gif

questions... no need to be shy. but do read enough first; describe clearly any problem so that others can help. most people are ready to help except when the person is too lazy to read or too proud to learn from others or just want to rant...

Uninstall Kodi v17.x (Krypton) and just install the older 16.x (Jarvis)... Kodi 17 on that device is problematic.. Firmware has not been updated to enable smooth working unlike Jarvis.. Solve your issues immediately.. Later when you are more experienced with troubleshooting and fixes.. Can try to make Krypton work..somewhat. smile.gif

Yes... Read Kodi thread... Many answers, tips and tricks..

only the latest Q5pro (2/8gb) and Q10pro (2/16gb with intermal HDD slot).

HDR (HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE)
HDR, or High Dynamic Range, delivers an image with wider dynamic colour range. This means richer and more nuanced colours, deeper blacks, and an overall more immersive image. HiMedia Q10 Pro supports 10bit HDR10.

4K60 HDR10 VIA HDMI 2.0a
Q10 Pro supports hardware decoding of H.265/HEVC 10bit HDR video with output at up to Ultra-HD 4K 60fps. 23.976 and 29.970 auto frame rate switching (match fps to HDMI output Hz) gives smooth playback of all video formats.

7.1 CHANNEL HD-AUDIO
Q10 Pro supports all HD-Audio formats. Dolby True-HD, Dolby True-HD ATMOS, DTS:X, DTS-HD MA, 5.1/7.1 LPCM, DTS, and Dolby Digital AC3 can all be downmixed and bitstreamed (passthrough) using the built in HiMedia video player app.

So my progress currently is OK.

Manage to iron out the settings and choppy issues

Still need a lot to study about it.

My only issues now are the Network Storage cannot detect by the device even with manual configuration (ES Explorer OK), and need a simply airmouse with a few learning buttons for the AVR volume and TV input selector.

I think for the network storage issue I'll download the patch from futeko to see if can detect, Or, I'll just connect the hardisk to the Himedia Player and Share from there.

Basically, my Dune player scores in Video image Quality and basic UI.

But the rest, Q10Pro rocks, even hard to play video files, the Q10 can play it easily.
The online streams if good too.

video quality...
q10pro comes with imprex2 engine which.
if u dun already know: when playing a video, press menu button of remote.
find the options/subptions to play around with the video settings.
(u will also notice a "download subtitles" - for any video in play, can get eng subs online directly too.)

i do not know what firmware u r on but the native SMB/NFS/UPNP features in media center should work well, easier than es file explorer.
let it do auto search, key in id/pw, save it and it's super fast the next time to access yr storage.
again, it may be that u missed doing it the right way... keep trying.
note this feature is native, not 3rd party app, u need to use the menu button of the remote to bring up the menu options.

Thank for reply. Yup did some survey last night and found the Q10pro. But i got 1 more issue as this support 1 HDMI out only. But when normal watching comedies or drama, i prefer to use TV internal speaker as it gonna use for long but when go for Dolby, DTX, Blu Ray ISO, i prefer to my home theater AVR. What you guys will suggest in this situation whereby i wont lost the Image quality and sound quality? HDR and Dolby Vision is amazing.

That's weird...

If you have an avr, would you want to route all (Astro/hypptv) thru your amp instead? That's what I do....

Unless you are using your TV for local channels via antenna and if that's the case u could just switch on the TV to watch normally then? No?

Where by you mean all your Astro/hypptv/tvbox to you AMP? Usually my father will at home watching those dramas or sports for long hours. That why i though normal video content could route via TV internal speaker but when goes blockbuster Action movie would prefer AMP + speakers.

i understand what u r looking for.

the box, like astro and hypptv can connect direct hdmi to tv.
no issue with videos, whether iso, bdmv, hevc, 10bit, etc.
video quality is normal, good, no losses, as high as the tv can take from the player.
if tv has upscaling, u will get it on the tv.
audio, only tv audio.

to get audio via avr, u can use the optical (toslink) or coaxial (rca) output of the box - q10pro has BOTH - connect either to AVR.
u will be able to get digital audio, i.e. dolby d or dts, but not higher; hd audio is only possible with HDMI.
files with dtshdma, ddtruehd, ddatmos, dtsx will be reduce to core dd/dts.
5.1 or 7.1 will remain.

my solution...

q10pro->avr->tv for 4k video, home theater hd audio.

all others, incl hypptv and q16 (older himedia)->tv for tv audio only.
this is very useful for casual viewing, 2.0/1.0 audio, long hours!

let's not talk download details as it is taboo...

not to worry, i assure u what u hv in mind will work beautifully.

u don't get the usual menu but a simpler yet fully functional mini menu. smile.gif

just playback it with the native player, not some other app player.

this feature has been there since models >5 yrs old!

I have advised my family members to exit Kodi by using the screen exit/stop button.

There is this remote HOME button. Now asking myself why this button if I don't use it! Why do I need to do it the harder way using the stop/exit button? Some says so that Kodi will shutdown properly. But then why this HOME button?

Like to know from those who have consistently used the HOME button to exit kodi and whether you face any problem later with Kodi.

Thanks.

For all PCs... Especially on desktop PCs, there's a "Power" button. Why do you have to shutdown and not simply press the button to immediately cut off power to the system? Sure you can "safely" do so a couple of times and the OS recovers, but that day will come when it won't recover and you'll have to begin a time consuming recovery process to get your system up and running again back to where you left off.

Same analogy applies to Kodi, Kodi isn't your usual app and while it's open, certain critical files are continuously being written and read from... You can use the home button to return to the Home screen and HOPE that the Android OS properly shuts it down later, either when more RAM is required or during a box shutdown. On the other hand, using the Exit command (which isn't hard at all) ensures that everything (new files, library update, addon, etc databases, bla bla) are properly saved & filed away before exiting... You are running Android OS, a Mobile-based OS that was (with a lot of hackery) converted to the big screen. The home button is similar to the "Show Desktop" (Win + D) command on Windows PC and not an "exit running program" command.

Edit: FYI, pressing "S" brings up the Shutdown Menu.. Alternatively, you can map a key press on a compatible remote to shutdown Kodi... Think Logitech remotes.
