Guys, I have Himedia Q10pro. Any suggestion for awesome launcher for TV? hardly find a good launcher online.

And which file protocol is recommend for me to use with my NAS? NFS or SMB?

And do I need a special 10bit HDMI cable?

I don't understand your question...

I'd just set it up for SMB no need to worry.

that's an ordinary free player, like VLC.

the himediavideoplayer in q10pro is a very powerful one.

MX and other free ones are generic, can't do many things.

waste of time if u try to use it!

in fact, when using apps like popcorn and showbox, u can set the player to native player.

that allows u to adjust video quality, find subs, etc. - just like when doing usb playback.
not utilizing the box enough?

how r u using the box, what apps u have now?

maybe i can suggest...
*
I just start using it. I got it from @Nicety, he installed lots of streaming app for me. tested a few and i decided to reset the whole box. haha. So now is empty. Popcorn and Showbox is good i guess, correct me if im wrong.

Pls suggest. I am looking for a clean launcher too.. The original launcher look so boring.

so, u r always stuck with the default audio track, can't switch?

r u sure u cannot do that with h8?

or u have not used the feature with the menu button?! biggrin.gif

the native player in h series cannot be that diff from q series.

canto/mandarin is basic.

there are files with as many as 15 audio and 15 subs - european, asian, arabic...

even 5 yr old q5ii can do that! biggrin.gif
kodi player is used in devices if the native player is poor or no native player.

q series player is good, no need for that.

in fact, q10pro now has a wrapper to wrap kodi streams, bypass kodi player and play with native player to get better control and picture quality.

however, at this time, that only works with local playback via kodi17 - incl 4k , hd audio files.

waiting for next firmware to do the same for online kodi17 streams.

I saw the wrapper app, i still wondering whats that. thanks for the info. By the way, can the native player read .srt file together with the .mkv. Both in the same folder and name (Korea drama subtitle)

ooo... how did u reset the whole box?

what firmware u r on now?
becos i have more than 1 box, i split up the functions between them, not put all in every box.

q10pro can do a lot of things, some may fit your needs:

.. kodi17 alone is big; use quasar addon, all yr available storage in the box will be put to good use every time u use it.
.. popcorn - the current version is good; like quasar, all yr available storage put to good use.
.. (showbox and others are inferior to popcorn and quasar)
.. iflix - works good, hd included.
.. mobdro, china/chinese apps if interested.
.. youtube, browser
.. spotify - nice music
.. utilities - i use file manager asus for file transfer over wifi; mobi backup/restore files/folders.
.. media center to play files from pc or another client over wifi.
.. usb play back - 2160p, 1080p, bdmv, hd audio, 10 bit, 60hz, hevc... all of it - this one is my major use.

if it shows android 7, it has to be 2.0.1, current.

u downloaded via OTA, i wud think.

launcher... i have used 3rd party launchers before - apex and nova, free from playstore.

both are acceptable, just take a bit of work to set it up, set it to default, looks like a pc desktop.

however, i now prefer to use the native launcher - simple and fast.

The seller upgrade for me.. I asked for it.

So my progress currently is OK.

Manage to iron out the settings and choppy issues

Still need a lot to study about it.

My only issues now are the Network Storage cannot detect by the device even with manual configuration (ES Explorer OK), and need a simply airmouse with a few learning buttons for the AVR volume and TV input selector.

I think for the network storage issue I'll download the patch from futeko to see if can detect, Or, I'll just connect the hardisk to the Himedia Player and Share from there.

Basically, my Dune player scores in Video image Quality and basic UI.

But the rest, Q10Pro rocks, even hard to play video files, the Q10 can play it easily.
The online streams if good too.
