I'll be getting the Q10Pro

My requirement

Video:
I using for my old Panny 720p Plasma
I use the Plasma for the hall, I simply like the Plasma blacks. (I also have other FullHD LED TV in other rooms, yet I luv the plasma)
I dont need for High Res or 3D stuff

Audio:
I using Coaxial Cable from Media Player to my old skool Dolby/DTS Amp.
I need Dolby and DTS, no need super high HD audio whatever.

Media:
Currently, I download all my MKV to watch on my Dune player, my Files are kept in the USB hardrive connected to the Router
But I need more than that, especially for online streaming. My friend show me a lot of stuff can be found in Kodi, no need to download anymore.

My Dune player getting very old, and not much or any apps for it except youtube sad.gif

Is the Q10Pro ok for me?
I wanna use it for Kodi, Live channels and play my MKV files.

Thank you for any advice

Good choice on Q10 Pro!

Like Voncrane has said, the old 720p TV is not doing justice to Q10 Pro capabilities. Strongly recommend to get a TV with :

* 10 bits colors
* HDR (high dynamic range)

That will raise your visual viewing enjoyment to another level with Q10 Pro!

And also get a sub woofer for your AVR!

Ha.
*
hmm...so far most panels I see, even the Sony LED in my bedroom, colors too forced

Any Panel to recommend based on your specs? dun want RM7K stufflah..

RM6999 boleh? Ha.

Still waiting for my Pana to fail before getting mine. I am also into Pana plasma TV. One of the most satisfied products I bought so far.

Keep an eye on Seng Heng, they have good promotion now and then.

Actually i bought a Sony LED to replace it, but before I did, I compared it very long side by side...Although the Plasma not as detailed, it gave a smoother image and the blacks still rocks. End up I put the LED in the bedroom.

The Q10 pro is fine, not really overkill assuming you have a good plasma. Most people have not seen anything close to a Kuro or something wink.gif The Dolby Vision processing will bring out the best...

The Q10 pro is on Android 7.1... future proof for at least the next 5 years... and if / when you upgrade your panel, you're already set

4K HDR is the rage now, but IMHO is not everything laugh.gif ...I prefer BIG! biggrin.gif

However, you do not seem to play with settings and to optimize / calibrate your tvs...maybe you should check it out too... it helps the pictures tremendously... search youtube and read up on google..

Thanks I think I'll get it for the Hall connected to the home system

And probably get a lower range one for the bedroom for a simple box to TV setup.

2 suggestions:

AA
Trimming program for your fingers! Ha.

BB
I am using Logitech wireless keyboard. A lot easier than using the screen keyboard. Suggest getting the one with button-light.  Yes, even during day time with window opened (but no room light), still need some help on which buttons to press! Ha.

Enjoy your new toy!

Your suggestion on logitech lited Keyboard cost RM400++!

I think I just get those Rii I8 style keyboards

thanks for the inputs on the light

Yesterday recieved my q10
Attached Image

Only problem is setting up the Lan Storage is a hassle.
Using ES explorer, its easy. But using Himedia one cannot skip Name and Password. What Name and Password? I never set them for my Network Storage.
ES explorer I just tick the Anonymous

Good thing about this set is can adjust the screen size manually to fit my 720p screen which is 92% smaller.

First experience with Kodi is a joke, movies write HD but manada HD, more like cinema capture quality.
Even for movies which has already have Bluray release.
But I still playing with it, maybe I need to do some setting.

Desperately need an air mouse.

Congrats to world of much anguish before equally much joy once you've gotten the hang of it.. rclxms.gif

Yes, you will need some form of mouse control and keyboard for easier typing, etc.
*
Yeah, I'm going to order a Universal IR Learning remote with keyboard to control stuff
I've got TV, AVR and this box to control, plus the ceiling fan, Bluray Player
Found a model which does that Rii i13, but it has mixed reviews especially the IR range.
Not sure why Logitech or Sony and other Big players dont come out a remote which can Learn a few channels and also incl an air mouse and small keyboard at the back.

All these free stuff by every Tom, Dick and Harry you expect all to be like Netflix?  doh.gif

They use phone HD camera to capture so they call 'HD' la. New movies not even release on bluray yet where can get real HD, you think la.

Want to view HD then find those older ones already released on bluray. Even if already released on bluray, you probably come across those previously posted from the pre-bluray release period.

I need to study this more, and especially family friendly channels..I'm totally new to Kodi

QUOTE(plumberly @ May 4 2017, 09:11 AM)
I faced the same problems in setting up the network media. Advice is not to use Kodi media (too problematic for me), just use the Android media. Now I can get to my NAS files without password. Forgot how I managed to do that now.

Yes, same issue with HD movies in Kodi, not really HD for most.

But ...

Use some of the apps (especially Chinese apps) and the movie quality there is much much better.

A steep learning curve with the new toy but will be rewarding later once you have mastered it.
*
Yeah, I google and seems like there are some issues with "New Server Error" with the standard apps.
I'll try a few more ways to see if it registers, and also may follow your method.

congrats.

the device u bought is a good one, has many capabilities.

if new to this kind of device and apps, time is needed to learn it.

can be frustrating at the start.

if your seller cannot support u, provide details on questions here - other users may be able to help.

apps and kodi addons come in all shapes and sizes since they are free, u need to get them to try.

kodi... there are lots of hd stuff in there, just need to know where and how to get them.
china apps, live tv or vod, in general is more reliable and in better quality than others.

if it is not in hd, don't bother, get another app! biggrin.gif
*
Wokay, totally new to this, Previously I just using Dune Player + Youtube app only, now trying out online stuff.
Maybe will take me some time

But so far I'm OK this the player

Thanks all for the tips and encouragement smile.gif

some apps require use of a mouse to scroll becos they were made for touchscreen.

Get a rm50 or 100 wireless mouse. This n remote combined will be able to handle everything.
*
I'll try out my laptop mouse as see if its OK. THanks

I assume you want to scroll down a long list of titles, right?

2 options

* press on the down arrow button, one title at a time, slow and wasting battery! Ha.
* press the right arrow button, then each time you press the down arrow button, it will scroll down by a PAGE!
*
I press the down button but cannot see anything, nothing seems to be moving

Probably I test out a wireless mouse first

thanks

I'm gonna read this thread about Kodi17, seems like most movies is Choppy.

There must be a way to smoothen it out. cos sometimes at certain part of the movie it smooth, most parts Choppy

yes, u can fix it - it is a setting issue.

go to settings/player settings/videos... u see hardware acceleration/media codec (surface) - disable it (but keep the other on).

this is a kodi-hardware thingy.

do read kodi thread, plenty of things to learn about this rather complex app.
*
Yes, and then there is the Wrapper etc, wth is a wrapper? Its OK, I'll read about it.

I quiet shy to ask too many question, unker like me sometimes need fast help, but I'll read this thread first

The thread in Futeko is quite technical for me, but I do check it out too

I'll try out our method later today, thanks again

Actually, i think i read about this yesterday and tried it out. But couldnt find that option. Mine is Kodi V17.

Do you know there are 4 settings
1 for the Himedia player, another for the kodi, another is for the andriod, another is for the apps lol.. All have setting displays.

But i'll try to find that option setting again.

Thanks

OK I found it, my settings was in "Basic", later I change to "Advance" and found the option for the video accelerator to turn off the Surface Codec.

Now its SMOOTH!

Thank you

So my progress currently is OK.

Manage to iron out the settings and choppy issues

Still need a lot to study about it.

My only issues now are the Network Storage cannot detect by the device even with manual configuration (ES Explorer OK), and need a simply airmouse with a few learning buttons for the AVR volume and TV input selector.

I think for the network storage issue I'll download the patch from futeko to see if can detect, Or, I'll just connect the hardisk to the Himedia Player and Share from there.

Basically, my Dune player scores in Video image Quality and basic UI.

But the rest, Q10Pro rocks, even hard to play video files, the Q10 can play it easily.
The online streams if good too.

Just purchased my 2nd himedia device. Previously using h8. New one q10 pro. A great device. Dont mind asking, what air mouse /keyboard you guys are using. Remote that capable to switch on the tv & himedia. Trying to ditch the himedia remote if possible.
*
After listening to so many advice and recommendations, and through my own experience

For a simple setup (not for games), just get a cheap remote without a Keyboard (that works with your Q10Pro)

No point buying RM100 remote and later you will find out that you still need 2 remotes, or never use the keyboard, or have programmable compatibility issues with your TV or AVR etc. OR just use the Original Remote with a wireless mouse.

Yes, no point viewing endless Youtubes and reviews about air remotes when the best combo is actually the Original Remote + a Wireless mouse.
