Courts can, I did use Amex there once to get a notebook which was on sale for less than RM1K.

Just noted Tag for this thread, Amex should be tagged as credit card since there are AMEX charge card too.

I tried using AMEX for their online ordering, there's no option for AMEX at the checkout page, only visa and mastercard. When I click on 'Proceed to Payment' however (after selecting VISA), there's an AMEX logo on the page where you key in your credit card details. So I tried using AMEX there, got a msg saying 'merchant is not allowed to process this type of payment'.

Usually my wife call them and I have paid once using Amex, but last two times the delivery boy did not bring the mobile terminal as they don't read the instruction which clearly states that I am paying with CC and ended paying with cash vmad.gif

Speak of the devil!
When my pizza arrived just now, the boy forgot to bring the mobile terminal. I told him I already stated that I'm paying via amex cc when I made the order. Heck it's even stated on the receipt 'amex required'.
So now I'm waiting for the delivery boy to come back with the terminal. It's been 30mins already, and I've finished my regular pizza. laugh.gif

No M2Amex cardmember would want to sign up autopay because cannot make sure payment is made on weekends.
Over-the-phone payment can be considered.

Autopay? hmm.gif

I have a savings accounts with Maybank and my cc for MBB2 cards has just been approved. If I'm not mistaken, the CS who helped to fill the form ticked the APS option (because she said I have an existing savings account). Does it mean that each month the bill will automatically be deducted from my savings? Also, I won't be able to get the 5% rebates on weekends? shocking.gif

You don't use Amex to pay your Paypal account. When you make a payment to a merchant using Paypal, Paypal will automatically charge the amount to credit cards already linked your Paypal account. So you just need to register your Amex to your Paypal.

Here's my contribution :

Telcos : TMPoint Titiwangsa, you need to pay at the payment counter and not the kiosk (I'm beginning to suspect a lot of TMPoint accept AMEX) Payment Kiosk only accept Mastercard and VISA.

Restaurant : PizzaHut
(exception at the online ordering/payment because only MasterCard and VISA is accepted. There is an AMEX option but when you choose that, the system will return an error)

Watson KLCC
Madam Kwan KLCC

Online transactions and auto-debit are all qualified for 5x TP (for MBB2 AMEX).

That's for the tips but I'm not a JJ cardholder. I also don't have HSBC Platinum with me.

After read the T&G for that promo, it's only applicable to selected branches in KL & Selangor.

I am very surprised that KL Sports Medical Centre located in Damansara Heights, which mainly cater to national athletes and affluent groups, does not accept Amex.

On the other hand, TM Point in Taman Desa KL accept Amex over the counters. However, they do not open on Saturdays.

As far as I know, these 2 Petronas stations accept Amex. Also, you have to swipe your Amex over the counter.

1. Jalan Ampang, near Ampwalk
2. Old Klang Road, near Pearl Point

You can check whether the entrace of the Petronas station displays Amex logo. If it shows Amex logo, the station would accept it.

Why not since the discount comes from Starbucks while the cash rebate/promo comes from AMEX.

Nope, they have stopped charging surcharge for CC since quite a while, in fact they were the first store to do it.

Why not since the discount comes from Starbucks while the cash rebate/promo comes from AMEX.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just wanna share, made a purchase at Viewnet again today and had a little chat with the staff about Amex. I told him that Maybank2Amex gives 5% cashback during the weekend and he said 'ya la but they charge us 3%. Mastercard and Visa charge around 1.8% only'. So I remarked, do you want me to use a Visa instead? Not that I was really going to, just testing him. He said no problem it's okay.
The fellow also gave me discount despite using a CC. biggrin.gif

You must be lucky dude. I wanted to use Amex at Viewnet on Saturday when I bought my new rig, they didn't let me use Amex. And to make things worse I heard the Boss (at least I assume he was) lecturing his staff to not accept Amex from me and to just tell me the machine is spoiled. True enough the staff came back and told me that the machine was spoiled. The price they gave me was really good so I turned a blind eye and used my Visa instead.

I guess what you mentioned there is one of the main reasons they are reluctant to use Amex. But I mean why even bother offering the Amex service then. Their dishonesty will probably make me think twice now about going back there unless they can give a real attractive price.

Anyway point here is sometimes shops may advertise that they accept Amex cards but in actual fact they don't.

Glad Sounds also had a Amex sticker/plate at their door but cant use, after 2 tries and later told me their machine just changed . haiz.. i wanted to say if cant use it pls remove the sticker as not to mislead customers but just walk away tongue.gif

why would AMex cont to charge their service more expensive? and make it the least favorite card to be accepted by merchants?

Well ... AMEX used to be far worst a couple of years back. They used to be charging 5% per transaction vs. the current rate.

Unfortunately, it would seem to be insufficient to beat Mastercard/VISA current rates.

I purchase IT goods from All IT as well as The Hub (Viewnet) at Lowyat Plaza on an off, the last being at All IT in mid-March 2011. There has never been an issue with AMEX acceptance at both shops so long you're paying the price stated on the label - this I can attest. Both shops aforesaid will however use a separate terminal for AMEX.

But if you bargain for a lower price like me (yes you can!), you have to ask them if the lower price (if offered) is applicable for purchase by CC. As far as I remember and according to the sales staff (at least for the Aztech section), All IT charges a flat surcharge of RM3 for each item (c/f per transaction) - this is not reflected at their card acceptance signage at the cashier. I still lean towards shopping at All IT because of AMEX acceptance and competitive pricing as well as free (2 hours?) parking with the All IT Rewards card - with purchase above RM100 if my memory serves me well.

In my case the staff used an MBF terminal.
IMHO when it comes to competitive pricing Viewnet and Jayacom are on top of my list. I check their pricelists regularly online. There is no minimum spending required to swipe at Viewnet whereas at ALL IT the minimum is RM50.

Here's what I bought at Viewnet on that day, with the listed prices.

CORE I5 2500 RM624
MSI P67A-C45 B3 RM469
SILVERSTONE STRIDER PLUS 500W RM319
WINFAST GTS450 RM399
COOLER MASTER RC692 ADVANCE RM339

Total RM2150, but after discount it's RM2080, plus the 5% weekend Maybank2Amex cashback, which is just another RM20 or so because I've used up the rest of the monthly quota rclxm9.gif

That is why I'm baffled with the story of the guy I quoted (supervisor at one of the viewnet branches didn't let him use amex sweat.gif ).

QUOTE(wshoh @ Apr 13 2011, 05:14 PM)

*
All IT, you must tell the sales person you using AMEX and you don't want surcharge and they will write a note so that cashier is aware. Last year when I bought my 23" LG LED monitor, the salesman claimed it was offer price and therefore I have to pay surcharge, I told him no such thing, take it or leave it and he agreed no surcharge. Last at All IT when I bought my cheap K-World multi media player, the salesman wrote a note on the price tag so no surcharge with Amex BUT the hardisk which was on offer and was cheap the counter said got surcharge.

Yes, you can use AMEX at the Maxis kiosk - I just did at KLCC on Wednesday with my MBBKard2 Amex (no point swiping on weekend since I already got the max RM50 5% cashback on the first weekend of April 2011).

BTW, the regulars here will remember that I have attempted numerous times to pay my Maxis bill with Maxis-PayPal linked to AMEX (not Visa/MasterCard linked Paypal).

Afraid to report and confirm that this is not possible. After more than a month calling 123 and speaking to Maxis CS etc, they finally found the fault as to why my attempts to pay were always unsuccessful - payment of Maxis bills via AMEX linked PayPal is NOT accepted.

You're right, it was MBF terminal for me too. I am kiasu and pick up Compuzone's pricelist first to check the base pricing (btw, they don't accept AMEX and as for Visa/MC, surcharge applies), then walk to Jayacom to check out the price and thereafter go up the escalator to All IT and Viewnet (The Hub).

For the inexperienced IT shopper, it is definitely too dizzying and not worth the effort. Only do this if you know where to find those stuff and for big tickets item - you can be surprised with the price difference and savings when added up, enough for a nice cup of coffee or parking, especially if you take parking charges and points accumulation into account. All IT is indeed rather competitive!

Definitely nothing against Jayacom as I do purchase stuff from them too, just that the last time I bought the Logitech Webcam C910, Jayacom was much more expensive than Viewnet and as for Aztech Homeplugs, it was considerably cheaper to obtain from All IT as compared to Viewnet smile.gif

Those times I need to run (just drop by quickly after work), I go to All IT. Quite a safe bet.

This is because Rasa Ayamas has chosen not to accept AMEX. All Public Bank, CIMB Bank and Global Payments (HSBC) credit card processing terminals all can process AMEX, JCB, Diners Club etc. but most of their merchants choose to accept only VISA/MasterCard.

I learned this through an article published by a local financial magazine. It was a while back. Couldn't remember which magazine already. Or may be it was STAR, anyway, couldn't recall now sweat.gif

Besides AMEX, JCB and Diners Club, Public Bank and Global Payments (HSBC) credit card processing terminal also can process payments made by UnionPay too but then, it is also up to what's the merchant's agreement with the bank that provides the credit card processing terminal. I read that JCB's merchant fee is as high as AMEX's, hence why it is not so popular either.

no u cannot pay digi postpaid via amex @ m2u.
but yes u get 5x points - by using autopay.
if u mean 5% rebate on weekend, then u need to pay ur bill by swipe at digi center that accept amex (digi kajang not accepting amex - confirm).

If you order Pizza online through www.pizzahut.com.my, you will be directed to this exact same page too should you choose to pay with credit card. Although AMEX is also listed, you may only pay using VISA or MasterCard.

AMEX for TNB bill is only accepted by doing Autopay submitted to MBB/AMEX.

Was chatting with the cashier at TM Point Damansara Uptown and she said the Self Service Payment Kiosk accepts AMEX as well.

Didn't get to try as I already prepaid few months of bills.

Perhaps someone could give it a go and let us know, would be helpful if it does since its open throughout the weekend unlike the counter service smile.gif

You can do it over the phone but if you're looking for a transaction during weekend. You may to try harder as some forumer feeds back that they open for half day on Saturdays.

Hey guys, don't go out of topic. This place is to discuss places to use AMEX not discussing AMEX related issues.

Since we are granted this thread, let us make a good use of it.

TGV Sunway has a sign in front of the counter that says 'Amex are welcome'.
However, when I used my MBB Amex, it showed error, for all three card machines. The cashier wiped the chip on the card and re-slot it, but still failed. In the end, I used my MBB Visa. doh.gif

Only if the petrol station accepts CC for T&G and prepaid reload. From the data compilation we have so far, the chance is pretty low!

3years or 2 years expired a?
everytime got redeem parkson voucher 50bucks only
*
QUOTE(beyond86 @ Apr 30 2011, 08:10 PM)
that time remember, the point just able to redeem something, but the point expired
*
Q: Is there any expiry date to my BonusLink Points?
A: BonusLink Points are valid for 3 years. You must try and make a redemption during these 3 years. After the 36th month, Points will expire on a monthly, 'first in-first out' basis. Example, Points collected in March 1999 will expire in March 2002.

Q: How can I keep track of any Points expiry?
A: You can keep track of your Points expiry with the following methods:
• Points Summary - which is sent to you 3 times a year. This will show you Points that are due to expire in the next 6 months.
• Call 03-76261000 and use our Self Service Phone System to check for your Points expiry.
• BonusLink website. Simply login with your PIN to access 'Member's Page'. Under My Account, click on Transactions & Expiry

Intend to buy iPad 2, know for sure Harvey Norman accepts Amex. Apple Online only accepts Visa/Master. Appreciate to know where else can use Amex, can get the RM50 rebate if buy on weekend.

nice rite, when getting so much points. for me its when i reload digi RM500 at tesco, get 2500 mbb points, RM25 rebate, 280 tesco points

all data updated thumbup.gif

Added on May 1, 2011, 7:30 pmanother thing is its not advisable to buy at Giant since i find the prices there more expensive than Tesco or Carrefour. Econsave the cheapest for me. Unless there is some special discount. Get to PWP 5kg rice at RM3.29 when I reload HP at Tesco. Grab 5 pack immediately. Great job on Tesco staff at Kajang since they recommended me the deal! Fantastic and thanks

Yes, super nice. biggrin.gif I don't have my own car yet, my sister just refilled her car's petrol on Friday else can swipe my card also. laugh.gif

Yes, I know Giant's price isn't competitive as the other hypermarket stores but that's the only hypermarket in PD. sweat.gif Heard Carrefour will be here soon, saw the layout already. laugh.gif
At the moment, PD only has Giant, The Store and Billion. Small place. sad.gif Gonna try at Billion next time. tongue.gif
At least when I go back KL, I have more places to use my AMEX. Can't wait! thumbup.gif

I was very disappointed that The Face Shop don't accept Amex sad.gif Spent quite some amount there. My mistake was I did not clarify with them before choosing the items (first time to the shop).

Heard from my friend that D'Fino (hair saloon near MMU) do not accept Amex too. Same goes for US Pizza.

you get 5x TP when you swipe at any merchants that accept AMEX, weekdays and weekends.

P/s:
5x TP only for MBB2 AMEX.

its nearest to my house plus its small. I don't mind going there although don't accept amex. Tesco is just too big to shop. Will take me a long time to shop around 2-3 hours. Waste of time. I will now go there if got reload HP and shop there also. The reload HP is a plus point.

Oh I see, my English not so powerful.

My intention is for other members who might want to maximise their rebate in the coming days on other Kedai TNB.

For me I have already paid my TNB bills in advance since Dec2010 to take advantage of the extra rebates from OCBC TI. Still have balance to last at least 3 months.

Sorry if my intention is not appreciated, so should I cancel off that post?

By the way, Focus Point was listed as the 'Amex accepted places', right?

Last week I tried at Focus Point Jusco Melaka, but it was rejected. shakehead.gif

Does Immigration Dept accepts Amex for passport application?
Its website
https://eservices.imi.gov.my/MyPassport/
accepts credit card for payment.

Guys, to use AMEX in Viewnet or The Hub will have extra surcharge?

I know ALL IT doesn't have because I bought my speaker from there and used my CIMB DA to swipe last time, no extra surcharge. Am I right?

The reason is I'm buying a new laptop and my friend has gone to do survey for me and I'm not sure if he asked it properly, he told me Viewnet doesn't accept AMEX? sweat.gif

I'll talk to my friend again later and get an update but I see from first post, it indicates that both Viewnet and The Hub accepts AMEX? I wanna buy it during one of the weekends and enjoy 5% discount with more than 10000 TP. sad.gif

check Amex website for the list of participating Starbucks outlet.

Wah, got parents pay for laptop, can talk so loud 'I don't want BT'. But why don't you save the Starbucks money and pay your parents?

poor reason, LAZY.
If nobody replies you, will you not go out yumcha at Starbucks? Until someone replies you, then only you make decision whether want to go or not. Am I right?

Well, as simple as that I'm not going out tonight. laugh.gif
It could be tomorrow or next weekend. smile.gif
Until then if still nobody replies, I'll definitely check it out. Anyway, it isn't really important though. smile.gif
Just that the weather is hot now that I am imagining ice blended.

In the first post it said 'Online merchant (local) :
Dell (not for installment)'
Ignore this reminder if you're not going for installment.
As long as Dell charge the bill to you on a Saturday, its transaction date will be that Saturday. Posting date isn't important.

Hi fruitie,

HP Store in Midvalley accepts AMEX, bought my laptop there. Maybe you can hover around Midvalley area and ask around the IT shops over there whether they accept AMEX or not.

BTW, SS2 Starbucks CONFIRMS can use get one beverage if you pay with AMEX, been there couple of times smile.gif. Maybe we'll accidentally bump into each other biggrin.gif
