Got declined by an Esso station in Ipoh yesterday that previously can use Amex. Guess Amex's networks got problems as well.

I got declined few days ago in an Esso petrol station as well. Amex network have too many transactions recently from MBB2 card?

That was not the first I've used Amex at the petrol pump and I tried at two different pumps. I've used it successfully many times at the same ESSO station before and if not mistaken,
the same pump as well.
I've also used it at many other different ESSO stations in PJ/KL and I can use it at the petrol pump as well. Which ESSO station did u go where the petrol pump does not accept AMEX?

Yup, that's what happened to me as well. Funny thing was I went to the counter and they asked me to go back to the pump and ask the attendant's help. Even he informed me that AMEX was accepted, and tried, but declined, that's when i decided to use my back-up card for petrol. Thank goodness for competiton.

Unless those that charge the 3% - 4% surcharge.
