You must be lucky dude. I wanted to use Amex at Viewnet on Saturday when I bought my new rig, they didn't let me use Amex. And to make things worse I heard the Boss (at least I assume he was) lecturing his staff to not accept Amex from me and to just tell me the machine is spoiled. True enough the staff came back and told me that the machine was spoiled. The price they gave me was really good so I turned a blind eye and used my Visa instead.The fellow also gave me discount despite using a CC.
I guess what you mentioned there is one of the main reasons they are reluctant to use Amex. But I mean why even bother offering the Amex service then. Their dishonesty will probably make me think twice now about going back there unless they can give a real attractive price.
Anyway point here is sometimes shops may advertise that they accept Amex cards but in actual fact they don't.
