OCBC titanium can really get 5% cashback for petrol? i thought 5% from balance outstanding only, which usually coz u to pay more on interest charge.

Well, that may be applicable to Ambank Carz and Citi Shell where you get more if you have outstanding balance.

OCBC Titanium and Citibank Cash Back Platinum really reward you 5% cash back at any Petrol stations for fuel except that OCBC monthly cash back is capped at RM50 and Citi Cash Back have RM30/month for petrol. Maybankard 2 American Express gives you 5XTP everyday at petrol stations and additional 5% cash back on weekends (cash back also capped at RM50/month).

can AMEX used in Petronas? Coz I found some website saying yes.some say no..so i m confusing. Any 1 can confirm this?

Majority of them do not accept AMEX.

i guess my citi plat for fuel need to be cont, here in jb ocbc in town area really inconvenient to find place to park although its so near my place.

First time going to Shell and tried paying using CC with bonuslink card with these steps:

1. Insert bonuslink card at the slot. Green indicator light appears.
2. Remove bonuslink card when the indicator light dissappers.
3. Insert CC and card will be processed and then remove Cc.
4. Start pumping and collect receipt thereafter.

Q1. Is this the correct way so that my bonuslink card is read properly ie. able to get the points?
Q2. Is it possible to key in how much in RM that I wanna pump? I tried pressing the numeric keys after Step 3, but nothing is displayed on the screen.

No station attendant on site, thus unable to seek assistance. Anyone can help? Thanks

If the Bonuslink is not swiped properly, it won't ask you to insert CC if I'm not mistaken. However, the point system is not updated instantly like Mesra card. Even their online system takes ages to get it updated.

Petronas's kiosk is more user friendly is the sense that the card will be 'auto-kicked' from them slot indicating that it has been read properly.

I also plan to use the cc in Shell, but I do not have a bonuslink card. Is it necessary that the first step must always be the bonuslink card? If it's just the credit card, should be fine, I guess?

As Human Nature puts it, I would also like to know if we can preset the amount of petrol that I want to pump.

The menu will ask you to put either Bonuslink or CC. If you don't have Bonuslink, skip that and directly slot in your CC.

BHP accept AMEX, i tried it at jln genting kelang station.

How to apply for Smiles card? Can do it over the counter? Will I get the card instantly like Petronas Mesra card?

Card is attached with the form.
So, yeah, it can be used right away.

Walk into any Esso/Mobil station and fill in the form and you'll get the card on the spot, same same like Mesra card.

i prefer to pay with credit card when purchasing fuel coz i dun have to walk to the counter and pay~ just pay at the pump~ if dun like cc, use debit card la~
