after reading through the last few pages, i can safely say
1) all those age below 30 earning below 10k - you are above average compared to what is being paid in market

2) new grads to the market : your pay is also quite ok.

My first drawn salary last year 2010, when I was 24 years old was RM 2.8k. Not studying IT or Engineering. laugh.gif

Pure HR background. tongue.gif

I could have started working at 23 but I decided to prolong my internship while looking out and had the intention to start my first employment on 1st Jan 10.

Who knows the company I interned with, gave me a proper employment. I'm here until today, of course with a figure I'm still quite contented. Considering with the work I'm doing, more than happy. biggrin.gif

if im below 30 and earning only 1 bucks per month,im still ABOVE average?

Hi everyone there...

which is a better pay job? Factory/Semicon process engineer or M&E engineer.

Short term i heard factory engineer is paid more during start, then it become stagnant

Where else M&E pay low but gain with experience and paper of course.

I'm from semicon factory background, last pay was RM2.8K, when resign offer me RM3K++

currently in M&E only being paid 2.4K. Think I'm underpay even if I have working experience though it's not really related.

Do you think I should stay or go back factory based?

Some more not my parents hinting I should increase their allowances doh.gif money is an issue currently

It seems most forummer here do not favor Semicon, so i suppose you should go for M&E
I'm ex-semicon employee, would said the pay so so, benefit so so, but still better than Chinaman

btw, I'm in M&E field but more to environmental sustainable design (aka Green building) consultant, I didn't really touch much on design thus far though boss say will allow me to after I finish my project (but thus far endless project)
