Omg.. Im being cheat.
He told me that the highest intern rate is 800.
I ask for 1500 but he don want to give me.
I should insist.
Any diploma intern get higher than 1200?
Please inform me thank you.
*
Internship normal rate is only RM 500, that's standard. You should be grateful if more than RM 1k. smile.gif
I got mine two years ago for RM 800, enough to cover my accommodation and transportation. laugh.gif
If this matters, it was a Degree intern. smile.gif

Job Desciption : monitoring accounts
Years spent in company : 9 months

Allowance: medical and dental claim.
Education level: Aus bachelor degree.

what do you guys think? i joined this company with the lowest employment level and got promoted after 8 months with Rm600 increment. is it too little?
*
Lowest employment level, yet they gave you a senior titling?

Well, if you think you deserve more, then you can negotiate. I don't think we are in the right position to know if this is considered low. We don't know your job descriptions to judge if you are underpaid. tongue.gif

For me, at times I do think I'm overly paid because my job isn't that difficult. laugh.gif

My first drawn salary last year 2010, when I was 24 years old was RM 2.8k. Not studying IT or Engineering. laugh.gif

Pure HR background. tongue.gif

I could have started working at 23 but I decided to prolong my internship while looking out and had the intention to start my first employment on 1st Jan 10.

Who knows the company I interned with, gave me a proper employment. I'm here until today, of course with a figure I'm still quite contented. Considering with the work I'm doing, more than happy. biggrin.gif

you guys are still not making any sense to me

if everybody below 30 that gets paid below 10k is above average, then almost everyone is above average

if im below 30 and earning only 1 bucks per month,im still ABOVE average?
what a theory

Added on August 24, 2011, 3:25 pm

a lot of the people i know are earning at least 2.5k at 22 and they didn't take engineering or it
*
Exactly. That was my question as well, so 1k also below 10k and it is considered above average? laugh.gif

No point risking your health for such job. Salary wise, I think it's OK though I got more than that when I joined my current company also after my internship with them.
If I were you, I won't accept.
It is bad for long run. smile.gif

It's September now, my boss will talk to me again on my increment soon. Last year she discussed with me in November, a leap of RM 700. RM 2.8k to RM 3.5k (exclude other allowances).

Not sure what is she going to offer me this year, hopefully a huge leap. Too bad I don't have negotiating skills, though I'm in HR dept. sweat.gif Joined last year January, I still consider myself a junior staff... sad.gif

that's a good pay, I don't think you are considered a junior staff anymore

in the current job that I am working now, in order to have similar pay as yours (plus the allowances as well) they need to be in team lead position, which requires at least 2 years of exp

got a dude here working 4-5 yr, I guess his salary is more or less same as yours, but you just started work in Jan last year, so, be proud of yourself biggrin.gif
*
I'm quite happy with my current pay actually, compared to my friends at my age and same qualification, I'm considered the best among them. smile.gif
Actually I do have this strong feeling that my pay will not increase much this year. My basic is already quite high for my field - HR, compared to my no. years of experience.

QUOTE(Lucas30 @ Oct 8 2011, 10:50 AM)
Maybe I should clarifies job hopper refer to at least minimum 2 years stay. With my experiences of job hopping, it does not turn off employer if u can protray the required skills. In this emerging and radical change of organization, employer indeed had diversed their business and in need candidates that have diverse background and initiative to challenge. In order to gain these skills, staying in an organization will limiting individual potential and exposure. Individual should explore more challenge that out of the scope what u are doing now. Ex: from logistic to HR, customer service to HR, this are example of challenges that I meant. Most of the people will not willing to step into this diversify career because they are doubts with their competency and stay @ comfort zone.

I had encouraged plenty of 20's and 40's peers to take up diverse role when given opportunities. Business recruitment nowadays is not targeting @ specialization skills of an individual, but the diversed exposure skills that able to assist or emerge the skills to multiple industries.

When I judge a candidate, specialized a same job for 10 years does not impress me, rather a multiple 3-4 jobs skills in 10 years definite impress me.
I do not force individual to follow, but that is the emerging industry is toward in near future.
*
Not applicable to all industries.
The industry I'm working for now (telecommunication) is however against whatever you have suggested above.
We are quite particular if the candidate is a job hopper though he/she might have learnt few different skills during the transaction.
However, we believe this set of skills is not learnt in a full spectrum manner because of the short tenure in the particular company. Half-bucket knowledge.

Unless the person shows that he/she deserves the position, before hiring him/her, we will first do serious reference check to understand more on the previous employments.

Contract not too bad la actually. smile.gif I'm on contract too but in term of job security I guess I'm pretty secured at the moment. smile.gif

Though many hate contract for the job insecurity and lack of benefits.

Didn't expect O&G underpays its staffs. hmm.gif Still, I'm not too sure of your job scopes and market price for your position. smile.gif

But no open vacancy at the moment, we have closed all the open roles. smile.gif

HR contractual staff (executive somemore) also highly paid... jealousnya~
*
Hey, nothing to be jealous about. smile.gif
Still not that highly paid yet compared to many people out there. smile.gif
As for the Executive level, I guess it is pretty normal for my organisation, most of us are at least an Exec. The rationale behind is that many of us are experienced talents.
We don't hire fresh grads except for me which was a very unexceptional case, hence I was put under contract. smile.gif

actually we talking about salary whether is underpaid or overpaid...

it is the salary we talking here is just only the basic salary only?
or total salary with included with other allowances, incentives, etc?

bcos mine is underpaid is basic salary only,
but if included the allowances, incentives, and others then the total salary still in the acceptable range
*
Usually when it comes to recruitment, I'll be more interested in your basic salary, then only move on to know if you have fixed monthly allowances (i.e. only those stuffs appear on your payslip).
If you are getting a low basic but without any fixed allowances, most likely your next leap will not be that high.

Why is that not possible? I'm not so familiar with those levels in accounting/audit firm.

But getting 3k (or more) as first drawn salary is normal for MNCs. smile.gif
