Re-post my questions here in new thread.

1. Brand. Sony Ericsson, HTC, Nokia
2. Budget. RM1000 - RM1100
3. Specs. WIFI, at least 5 megapixel camera, Java supported
4. Type/Size. A good and responsive touch screen as will be used for mobile internet.

I am considering Nokia C7, but read many complaints on the display, auto restarting, unable to install certain software, email configuration problem, etc in the web. It somehow freak me out. Any one is owning this model or perhaps can intro me other options.

Stretch your budget a little bit (RM11xx) and you can go for the SE Xperia X10. Its big screen, android interface, 8 megapixel autofocus camera should do your needs well.

em.. I own a C7. so far, only weak web browser did disappoint me, other complaints u may heard there, well, i don't experience that (just the display, got some bug after new software updates, for screen saver of music)
since u want a good mobile internet, suggest u to look for android OS. u can get HTC wildfire within your budget. and also, AP motorola milestone already. I saw earlier on gnex sales thread, new AP around 1.1k+ only. u get higher resolution, bigger screen

of if dun want motorola, topap a bit, go for AP desire

Mind to share the weakness with C7's browser? I did try it at a phone store. Can't really feel its weakness as I only tried sony ericsson x10 mini browser before. hmm.. HTC desire is around RM1.4K at my place.

1.4k with 2 years warranty? or one year?

Not sure though as I was more focus to Nokia C7 at the phone shop i visited.

standard warranty is 1 year except some 3rd party provide additional warranty.
Nokia N8 browser have limitation due to the phone screen resolution 640 x 360 pixels. Most of the time u require to zoom in and out of stuff because too small even can fit the texts and stuff are too small for human eyes to see

thanks. now considering whether to get HTC Wildfire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 or Nokia C7. HTC Desire is a bit out of budget.

ya. for nexus one, im aiming for a second hand unit. from the list given by u and 41LY45, i'll pass G2 - got slider keyboard (got keyboard buttons + bad experience with slider phones), and motorola defy - its not amoled screen? (i dont know what different but reviews mention its as a disappointment).

in my list:
1. samsung captivate
2. 2nd hand unit nexus one
3. HTC Desire AP

depends on your needs. If size matters Nokia C7 is really slim. If u prefer more for photograpghy consider nokia N8. For internet browsing yeah get android

The quality of N8 camera seems good. My needs is more towards internet browsing. The AMOLED screen for C7 is quite good actually too. I am not sure about HTC Wildfire as didn't pay too much attention to it yesterday. Totally into C7 until I read the reviews of it in lowyat and web. I did compared SE X8 and X10 to C7 display (even though I am not suppose to compare them as different price range). AMOLED for the obvious, win.

If internet browsing X10 or Wildfire is the right choice and not Nokia C7

HTC original by SIS is said to come with 2 years warranty. I am not a HTC user, so please confirm this with the phone dealer when purchasing the phone.

I doubt any SE or HTC Android smartphone is within your budget range for the first hand original handset.

For Nokia, you can try to hunt for Nokia X6 and Nokia C6 if you want a physical keyboard, but both of them are running on Symbian.

if you still want Android at that budget, you can ask around for the CSL Mi 300's price to see if it fits your budget or not.

yup..after reading it in windows mobile forum, i find it not complete yet.. seems like another ios coming hrough, like when it was 1.1.1 but anyhow, it will be a fast growing not like apple, need to wait 3g to get 2.0 3gs to 3.0 n such. gladly' i'll be on android.

I only remember about the Samsung galaxy 5 or CSL Mi 300 when it comes to the budget Android phones (below 1k). Looks like it is time i upgrade myself with new information about Android handphones.

em.. a bit slow to load. and pinch zooming is bit lag. yeah, as I'm a former standard phone user, me myself don't really feel the slight weak of the web browser. well, compared to opera, I like the default browser more since it can be zoomed as we like. unlike opera, some pages can't be zoom, like LYN's own forum. I find this very anoying. if u are former android/iOS user, u can feel the lag and one more, symbian most weakness point IMO, is their text input

In terms of the hardware specification, Samsung Wave pawn Optimus 1 kaw kaw. However, if you are more into application, Optimus One should be a nice phone for your budget.

em.. nokia 2700 got memory card slot u can also look for SE spiro. it is slider though. but, i like it since it got 3.5mm headjack, which is very rare in SE phones

I dunno about u, but I found nokia X5-01 square look is kinda cool it also comes with some function, like spin to shuffle etc. got some bright colours to choose for. and, u got wifi
but, some ppl din't really like the square. so, maybe u like X3-02 touch and type?

Generally, here is some stuff i usually what i would do when inspecting the used handphone:

1. Ask the seller if there is any histroy for this phone.
2. Basic test like on and off, check the camera, test the speaker, check for holographic sitckers to prove that it is genuine (for Nokia, SE or any other handphones that have it)
3. Observe for sctaches or any sign of physical damage scars around the handphone.
4. If there are still remaining warranty for the handphone, please insist on the receipt.
5. Usually if the seller say that full accessories will be provided, I will do some homework to get a list of the accessories included for the handphone when it is purchased.

Actually, what phone you compared already with captivate?

Lazy to go through the V10.

But i recalled that if i am in your shoes i go for the captivate.

the samsung galaxy ace almost all things pawn lg optimus one,but just lose the RAM which just 278mb if not mistaken
but lg optimus one have 512mb ram,quite high already

Always remember nothing is 100% perfect. There will be always "something" that cannot satisfy you.

Take your time to survey since you say that you are gonna use it for 5 years like that.

Please remember that the phoe camera is always not a good subsitute for normal with good lens that can zoom further.

It is only meant for convenience only.

Umm, what is your expectation about the battery life? Like how many days?

Also, do you mean the physical QWERTY keyboard?

At your budget at most I can recommend you the Nokia 5530 (wifi, 3.2MP). If stretch your budget a little more, get the 5800 (wifi, gps, 3.2mp, loud stereo speakers)

Hi, I need with buying a new phone ASAP...... Current phone (SE K800i GG)

1. Brand: Want to avoid SE unless got a kick ass SE at that price range........ (If you want a reasonable reason, lack of updates and phone left at buggy firmware )
2. Budget: This is the problem... I dunno what is my budget......... Give suggestions for RM 200, 300, 400, 500....
3. Specs: Bang for the buck..... (Would love WiFi) and Android[I can dream...]
4. Type/Size: Candybar or full touch... NO qwerty!

PS: SORRY FOR BEING SO loose with price, but I dunno what is on my mum's mind to buy right now........

For android I'll suggest the CSL Mi 300. Rm 699( 599 of you know howe to hunt)

Give me a confirmed budget, and I'll do the best I can.

Isn't the CSL a China phone with the China brand name removed and put a Malaysian CSL name? Btw, not all China products suck, eg. Edifier speakers (made in China, and doesn't suck AT ALL)
How is the CSL Mi 300 compared to Samsung Galaxy 5? 5 is cheaper 610...... but yeah...... Doubt I can go that high in price, bellow 300 will do.......

300 bucks can't land you an android brah.

recently I just happened to spot an old HTC phone, MyTouch 3G slide. I'm more attracted to the physical keyboard along with the touch screen, that's why I'm currently owning a Palm Pre, of which the next generation would be Palm Pre 2 and HP Pre 3 and Veer.

erm, at least 1 day of heavy usage? no need qwerty, but don't know la, using e66 now, should i just buy another e66? mine is close to rosak already

i thought 5800 rm700++ and i dun like it cause it is heavy

My Nokia 5800 can handle 1 day usage with online on 3G (about 30 minutes like that), phone calls.

Have you considered about the Nokia E52?

Camera quality is barely acceptable for some people. It is hard to see Nokia mid range phones equipped with the Carl Zeiss lens, but this phone has no auto focus and no LED flash for camera.

If you are willing to hike the budget a bit, Nokia X6 8GB is around RM800 like that. If you wanted a free GPS navigation license for lifetime for the Ovi Maps, Nokia X6 16GB is below 1k like that. It also depend much on your hunting skills.

em.. the newer, the better IMO X10 only comes with 2.1.. Ace preloaded with 2.2 if I make no mistake in reading the facts b4 but, isn't Ace will be around 1k+? but actually, If u can get X10, it is consider good d. it is a good phone (hardware, not really for the software). u can use custom ROMs for 2.2 and dual point touch

Hi, i am new here. I've been following this thread from v10, since i am planning to get a new phone.
Just wanna ask some opinion here. My budget is around 1k, expand to 1.2k, 1.3k still possible ( If worth the price.)
I've done quite some survey and research myself.
I've come down to 3 devices.
Samsung wave II , Samsung galaxy Ace and SE Xperia x10

SE X10 is not really my choice due the limitation of software altho hardware wise it is bang for the bucks. And if possible i try not to mess with custom rom, rooting and etc ( but actually i think i can, i deal with my pc thingys as well, never try with phone though.)

Samsung wave II is just what i want hardware wise, but Bada OS can be a problem. My sis is a bada user, i play with it and i am ok with the os itself. But just the apps ( don't even offers decent twitter, fb, messenger apps. Games was ok though. ). Knew about Bada 2.0 and its looking promising features, but i really question myself, does it worth my wait and risk ?

Galaxy Ace is ok and only RM900+. Feature wise is still ok, but i wanna ask can problem like non-flash enabled be solved ? Ace don't support flash right ? Problem such as low quality recording doesn't really bother me though. But, i've read a lot of opinions and reviews that Ace have terrible battery life of 1350mAh, which some user's Ace can't even tahan 1 day. This is important for me cause i dislike charging, and i always bring my phone out for trips like 2/3 days ( minimal uses only if i travel ). And i heard that, samsung just don't provide efficient support and software ( example, no android 2.3 ) for those low and mid range phones.

Kinda long, but i will appreciate any opinions and comments from the sifus. Lastly, Xperia Pro/ Arc suits me as well, but any ideas when it will released and the price tag ? Worth the wait ?

The issue about mobile phone technology is that if user want cheap, they have to use a lower specification, but it is usable. You may say that Xperia X10's hardware is not ideal to support with the Android or whatever, but just keep in mind that when it is first released, it cost about 2k +. I also expect the same as well for the Xperia Arc.

For me, i rather wait for bada to develop and when it is on the rise like the Android, only then i invest in it.

If you want to enjoy frequent software updates, why not check out some model for the HTCs? They seems very consistent in providing software updates for the Android OS.

What does your "decent camera" means? 3.2MP or 5 MP like that?

If your mum does not use the wifi, Nokia C5-00 is a good choice.

How about Neo and pro ? I know we won't know for sure, but since you guys have experience on previous SE batches of xperia, any guesses ?

Software update is just a factor me though. For me, HTC is a lil bit of overpriced in term of what they offer. And HTC that comes in my budget, like wildfire etc... just don't really like them.
