Sager Midern Computer, Inc., is an OEM computer manufacturer specializing in laptop computers. The company is generally publicly referred to as Sager Notebook Computer, as indicated by their website[1]. Sager, for short, is publicly recognizable for its high end gaming laptops. However, Sager offers a wide variety of services, including solutions for mobile gaming, video editing, and business applications[1]. In addition to selling physical hardware, Sager also offers complete support and repair services for all Clevo based Laptops. This service is offered even if the laptop was not ordered through Sager, although in that case the user must pay in full for all services provided. Although the company sells laptops via its own website, it also utilizes numerous resellers who sell the laptops with the Sager brand name.

(20 Apr '11) Sager NP5175 (Clevo W170HR) with i7 processor and nVIDIA GT555 2GB GDDR3 Optimus Technology is up for pre-order.
(12 Apr '11) AMD Radeon HD6970m 2GB GDDR5 is up for sale on all resellers at the upgrade price of USD$245 Standalone card with heatsink @ USD$550 (only for NP8150, from RJTECH.com)
Affective Model - NP8150, NP8170 and NP7280.
(07 Apr '11) http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clev...ed-apr-7-a.html The Sager NP8170 system will be split into 2 internal models, one with an NVIDIA GPU and the other with an AMD GPU. Note that these two models each require their own system version and GPUs will NOT be interchangeable. So, if you order an NVIDIA GPU system you will not be able to swap to an AMD GPU later, and vice versa.
System Freezing Issues: With help from many of , users, we have been able to sort out all the issues that were causing system freezing, and have worked with Clevo to resolve them. To just share some quick facts – since the B2 to B3 chipset revision, sager has shipped over 3000 units and we have only received one freezing system report, and that was a notebookreview forum user. Even this isolated incident was resolved by our latest BIOS revision.

Access Two DIMM Rams under the Keyboard (might applicable to other models)
Fix and hack graphics driver INF to latest version
QUOTE(carbonytte @ Mar 27 2011, 10:32 PM)
ok found it.
quite hard to find actually, but the nvcv.inf (Clevo information file for nVidia graphic driver installer) isn't update, the driver id is there, but NP8130 hardware id wasn't.
i modified nvcv.inf and do the proper modification.
2) Replace the old nvcv.inf (you'll find it at C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\267.76\Vista 64-bit\International\Display.Driver)
3) Run setup.exe (C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\267.76\Vista 64-bit\International)
many thanks to pewufod who initiated the idea of hacking the driver inf file

NP8130 - 15.6" Matte screen (can be upgradeable to Glossy, and different contrast ratios), GTX 460m, 120W power adapter, black plastic finish, 1 HDD + 1 Optical bay. The GPU can be upgradable...but due to the 120W adaptor, it probably won't receive enough power to handle more powerful ones. Sager will tell you what can be supported in this model.
NP8150 - 15.6" Glossy screen (Can be upgradable to Matte, different contrast ratios and screen selections for certain resellers), GTX 460m/GTX 485m, 180W Power adaptor, greyish rubber finish, 1 HDD + 1 optical bay.
NP8170 - 17" inch screen, Glossy screen (Matte upgrade too), 2 HDD bays + 1 Optical bay, Aluminum finish, GTX 460/470/485m, 180W adapter (I think it is).
All of these are totally upgradable; GPU, CPU, HDD, RAM, heatsinks, LCDs, TV tuners + Sim Modules (older Sager models do, most likely possible with these), wireless cards. Extra HDD can be placed in replacement of the CD-Drive bay.

Compare the Sager notebook model you have selected with other gaming notebooks based on the spec, warranty and price before purchase.
I cant wait for intel to release the fixed 6 series chipset. Has anyone try to purchase laptop from CubeHub asia? It seems abit more cheaper than mucro does.

mucro offers warranty from sager and mucro itself, while cubehub offers sager warranty. i believe that's the reason the cubehub offers cheap laptop.

congrats on the new thread!
soundsyst64 you use which model? no personal review?
money is not enough yo. i want to take either NP8150/8170
Should update ourselves with our current owners and the upcoming owners
Also, in the "Where to buy" section, you should put the country that the reseller is from...for reference Some of us may be overseas and wanting to buy Sager from the respective countries.
Put me as a future NP8150 and an ex-NP8690 Think some others would be buying some soon.

Added on February 16, 2011, 3:12 pmhey Lamp, when are you headed to brissy? im currently in sunshine coast, about 2 hours north.
I'm flying this Saturday, to my almost flood-mud ridden area.
Sunshine Coast pretty far from Brisbane Center. I don't have a car either haha, but I have been there for the beaches
QUOTE(funkynova @ Feb 16 2011, 04:20 PM)
gratz on v2 want to know when the beast would be released to my doorstep?
The King Kong (NP8170), the Godzilla (NP8150), Minizilla (NP8130), Orang Utan (Np5170) will not be released till the chipsets are shipped out to the local resellers. You can expect it to be about March - April.
Haha..should I get from Mucro or CubeHub? seems cubehub offer alot cheaper price between those 2.. or should i get from our forumer selling it..
Differences between those most probably on warranty eh...hmm
Haha I couldn't think of anything else for a name.
Anyway, if you really rely on warranty then Mucro is for you. I believe there's a Mucro sales rep in this forum (user: Mucro.Asia), you can "negotiate" with him. However, buying from the forums will also give you the chance to negotiate with the forumer as well; I've seen some who keep spamming "pm best price pls".
