The whole 2 days or so I was downloading Fileserve links and and only noticed last night that they were somewhat halfway stuck and disconnect everytime. Should have pointed to Filesonic. Damn. Is there something wrong with Fileserve connection or is this problem limited to Unifi users?

We are not on dedicated lease... so sometimes other factors affect the downloading...but mostly on their end...Understanding that we are not on dedicated line, patience is a must, and I myself don't simply go shouting here and there (especially to TM) just because my downloads suddently becomes slow. Take a step back, relax, restart the router and try again. If still slow I just leave it, perhaps tomorrow will be better...so my advice, it is not the end of the world... and besides what so urgent about downloading stuff anyway... Added on April 2, 2011, 11:05 am QUOTE(Boomeraangkid @ Apr 2 2011, 09:29 AM) perhaps time to upgrade to dedicated lease... Added on April 2, 2011, 11:09 am QUOTE(expl0it @ Apr 2 2011, 01:54 AM) The other guy was talking about people yelling / scolding the TM level 1 staff on the phone, for something they don't have any control over. Calling them to make reports, get updates, etc is fine. yes... the person at the call centre is not the one who do the fieldwork... sometimes i felt nowadays people are lacking patience... they expect a call in the morning and problem solve the very same day... and if it didn't, keep harassing on daily basis.... shame...Added on April 2, 2011, 11:20 am QUOTE(BlueHeng @ Apr 2 2011, 01:33 AM) I personally don't see what's wrong with calling the call center multiple times until they fix our problems. Heck, that's the only thing we could do apart from reporting to MCMC. Daily calls = daily records. That's the only way to get their attention. So yeah, I say go ahead and call them daily until they fix your problems. Come bro, are you that desperate. Ever heard of SOP? You think TM have 1million technical support? Every incident is recorded with a report number. Each report number is escalated to a dedicated technical team based on category/problems. The team will then assigned to field team based on location. This field team will then schedule the fix based on available slot. So if your problem (as an example) is schedule next week to be fixed, calling on daily basis wont do any good since it is still going to be next week. But even calling until next week, then you might say: now only you want to fix my problem.... (which if you dont call still will the the same date)... My point is, once called, the report number is there already... just do some follow up...and be nice the person on the other end... there are also human being with feeling... Firstly, I'm really pissed off right now, I'd been experiencing very unstable connection. My internet keeps on disconnecting and reconnecting.
Secondly, I called the UniFi hotline and waited for more than 10 minutes and there was no pickup. Thirdly, the download speed stated in speedtest.net was 15mbps but when I downloaded something off the internet the down speed was only 200~300kb/s, what is this?! |

Try downloading directly from Microsoft. I always get full speed from their servers.Secondly, I called the UniFi hotline and waited for more than 10 minutes and there was no pickup. I was wondering why different OS gave different speedtest result on VIP20.
Windows XP Pro, gave me a maximum of 13.xx+ mbps on speedtest.net Windows 7, the result is 21.xx+ mbps on speedtest.net But when direct downloading/HTTP download, the speed is good and same on both OS, around 1.8mbps-2mbps. Only speedtest showed different results. Any specific reason for this? or TCIP/IP configuration on my laptop? I think due to many have complaint about the long waiting time for getting an operator to call, TM UNIFI should improve their service here. It's not one who complaint about the longest period of call waiting but looks like hundreds or may be thousands.
They should adapt a Open ticket and Close Ticket concept online email like Exabytes Webhost . customer will be able to view their reports. But i believe they do have right? |

They're using Siebel CRM to track reported calls from Unifi users but I've no idea what kind of call centre software they're using. Anyway, Unifi call centre staff that I dealt with were all okay, never need to raise my voice and they're very helpful. My problem had been solved, stupid contractor did a shoddy job during the 'maintenance' work last Tuesday and this was solved by TM technicians yesterday. The found out that the link from DP in the manhole to my house was somehow broken by the contractor, switch to another pair and everything works okay afterthat. Good thing, the call centre staff who call me today raised a billing ticket for the rebate. No need to send any mail.. Mad with the disconnection problem, but the staffs that I dealt with were all okay..

Are you using the default router supplied by unifi? Most likely thats why you keep experiencing disconnecting issues.Secondly, I called the UniFi hotline and waited for more than 10 minutes and there was no pickup. Thirdly, the download speed stated in speedtest.net was 15mbps but when I downloaded something off the internet the down speed was only 200~300kb/s, what is this?! 2. The unifi hotline is pretty hopeless. 3. Your download speed may vary depending on where you're downloading from. e.g hotfile free service will only give you 350kbps at max rapidshare free service will only give 200kbps at max and also, if you're downloading torrents, the speed may vary depending on the seeds the torrent and the upload speed that you capped it at. I heard DLink 615 USB port can be used to plug in external USB hard disk and act like a NAS.
Anyone manage to get this to work ? And how ? |
