Hey guys, it's me again..
There are 3 type of food that cannot be eaten that I experience in SG while working here, it's just damn yucky:- 1) Chau Kuew Tiew (Why so sweet??.. put sugar ah to fry ah?) 2) 酸甘汁 aka lemon+plum drink - walao, it is too sour+abit of bitter! Cant compare to Malaysia's style 3) Tomyam - real yucky (Tomyam in SG is the worst).. Apparently, every hawker serve the same yucky tomyam. BUT SG do serve good BKT and Kuey Chap (cannot be found in KL). Just wanna share my experience b4 I go to bed. Bye. |

But still i go back there hahaha. Also have u notice the hawkers here like to put a lot of black sauce . I notice they have alot of that sweet black sauce in to their chay koay teow . I dont think it even looked right to begin with.bkt is chu thou thong in msia... minus the belly but with the meat... pepper soup kuey chap... havent tried... dont fancy it their white wan tan mee is not bad leh... |

If want good tomyam soup then go Golden Mile lo. BTW, BKT in SG sucks big time la. Also the Hokkien Mee, cannot make it 1.
SG local food (excl. western food or japs food) mostly 有型无味, ade outlook, xde taste. This post has been edited by kockroach: Jan 5 2011, 12:35 AM |

Thats coz they all get it from the same supplier. You want nice tom yam, goto a proper thai restaurant. and dont expect the superhot tomyam in kl made with chili paid. The singaporean pu$$y palate cant take it. I for one prefer the clear and super pepper BKT compared to malaysias darker cousin. One thing singapore has which malaysia doesnt is kuey chap and a stall near mine has an excellent stall for kuey chap. |

Wanton Noodle in Singapore is the most awful I have ever tasted. It's beyond my comprehension when I see people queuing to place order. The pungent smell....like detergent or a bleach agent.

Dont expect good or even decent hawker food, its usually far or obscure. At least their western offerings is better, skinny pizza and handburger comes to mind for decent eats.
