QUOTE(bloggerblue @ Dec 15 2010, 08:22 PM) Who want to buy iPod or Mac unit? i still can get 10% discount from my company. Buying from Apple Store in MY instead of SG is already an automatic 10% discount at today's exchange rate. |

QUOTE(rickysim84 @ Dec 14 2010, 11:48 PM) after i grad, i directly come singapore to work, i dun wanna waste my time working in malaysia because not all the malaysia company working experience are recognize. Thanks bro for reply QUOTE(Aloong @ Dec 15 2010, 08:07 PM) On the passport matter, I saw some forumer was saying some company they interview straight away applied Ep for them altho the candidate havent agreed to join. So there's a risk to this. If u decided not to join, but b4 u've replied to them, they immediate assume u wanted (mayb somehow u indicated ur interested)and applied EP for u. Mean its better not to provide passport details when replying via email to job openings? Will this give hiring company reason not to consider me for interview if passport details are not provided? This will giv u lots of prob, when the next job u really wanted apply Ep for u. More on administrative prob, but still prob, depending on how helpful is the first company. Thanks. |

guys,
do you think it's worth it to work at sg for 6 months on a SGD5k pay? I'm curious is there any cost for agent fee if we move in to a HDB room. And do we need to buy matress etc etc? |

QUOTE(tookinen @ Dec 16 2010, 08:48 AM) guys, if i am correct, if u work under certain number of months (i think is below 8 months, correct me if i am wrong), u will need to pay tax. For the HDB rent, it depend on whether u found the houses through agent, or through house owner.do you think it's worth it to work at sg for 6 months on a SGD5k pay? I'm curious is there any cost for agent fee if we move in to a HDB room. And do we need to buy matress etc etc? If u are through agent, then u need to pay for the agent fee which is 1/2 of the rental. For the mattress, normally the house owner will provide u with it. Either a new mattress or old one (normally old one). |

QUOTE(tinybee @ Dec 16 2010, 07:24 AM) hi guys, few question i want to ask if u are a Singaporean or PR, then you should apply. If you are a Malaysian, the chances that u will get a 3 months job here is near to 0. because they need to apply work permit for you which is a 2 year permit. also they need to pay for your medical check and insurance (required by mom). If you plan to work here in the future. I personally advice you not to come this trip. cause even if there is an employer willing to hire you (i highly doubt), in the future when you want to fully settle down in SG, MOM might reject your EP/WP application since u have bad record 1. I have a 3 months holiday and wondering whether i should apply for job over there? 2. What are the chances that they will hire me?(clerk position or any other f&b outlet) thankk |

QUOTE(meteor82 @ Dec 16 2010, 12:50 PM) Will start work in SG next year Jan before i come down to SG, i go through the 1st page like most of us do. But from my personal experience, the 1st page ads are mostly agents. The most effective way in getting a room is go to that area you desire to stay and look for ads near the bus stops. If you have a relative in Singapore, it is much easier if they have a room or their friend have a room to rent it out. Then you can save a lot of trouble.Beside, other than those website show in the 1st page, any good portal for room searching? |

QUOTE(tookinen @ Dec 16 2010, 08:48 AM) It would be a stepping stone for you if you intend to work here. However, you gotta note that staying (incl. working days/weekends/public holidays) in SG for less than 183 days, you are taxable as a non-resident at 15% flat. Which means, $4.5k of the $30k that you will be getting goes to IRAS, i.e. you will be getting only $500 on your last month pay. However, if the employment period on your letter of offer exceeds 183 days, then you have nothing to worry about. Of course, you will still be taxed but it's much much lesser. And also note that, even if the employment period on your letter of offer exceeds 183 days. But your job is terminated (by either party) before the period ends, you are still liable for the 15% tax. The best thing is, ask your employer to take care of the tax, be it >=183 days or not. |

It has got nothing to do with where you stay. As long as you are employed as a SG employee and drawing SG salary and will/have been doing this for more than 183 days in a calendar year, you will be regard as a 'resident' thus progressive resident rate.
