The lower the number the better.
The size of a camera sensor will have a big impact on the quality of your pictures. The lens gathers light and directs it towards the sensor, and the sensor records the light to create the image. Large sensor produces better images
All things being equal, a larger sensor will receive more light than a smaller one, and produce better images. This is especially important in low light photography.
When light levels are low, a smaller sensor will generate a higher amount of noise, which will decrease the quality of the images. This is why the best low-light setups include a camera with a large sensor (usually a DSLR) and a lens with a large aperture.

Hang and Dead Issue[COLOR=blue]

If ever your N8 failed to boot up (mean pressing the power button but no response), do as follow:
1. Verify is it a SW hang by long press the power button >7.5 seconds to force shutdown the N8. This is for SW hang scenario 2. Plug in the charger and wait for AT LEAST 15 minutes, then try to boot up. This is for depleted battery scenario 3. Plug in the USB (connect the phone through USB to the PC), wait for a minute then un-plug the USB (repeat a few times would help), then try to boot up. This is for weird "DEAD N8" scenario
From experience, the N8 can't be Hard Reset once it's failed to boot up normally or so call "DEAD N8".

okok.good luck to u...just finish read the V6 post..just reach penang at 3am and create V7 consume 90% of my battery:p nitez...will figure out the pros and cons of N8 tomorrow..of coz comparison between current symbian king and older one will post it here too.
Camera so many people here can test. I tested other things.
1.Hdmi out works with sound and all, although the Tron trailers got very jarring color transitions - might just be highly compressed video or a sacrifice made due to tech constrains.
2. Gps is a beauty - especially with the default ovi maps - voice navigation, fast locking time. You also could report problems with the map - Not sure if this was implemented before since I didn't notice this while using e72.

Its not that hard. Just goto Settings,Phone,Display and you will find the auto timeout. Default value is 1min. You must be not using Symbian for long time.

From what we know, Nokia team will continue to read the forum on a regular basis. There is no requirements, they just hand pick some random guys based on your enthusiasm for Nokia devices. This will be reflected on your participation in the forum. Currently it is still a pilot programme but they are evaluating it seriously and hoping to make this permanent. So show your passion for Nokia phone, by being active in forum. They do read what you wrote, so don't just spam to increase post count. Btw, judging from yesterday, they are open about it. Not just the good, they are interested to hear the your dissatisfaction as well. They have a competitor's phone for real world usage as well along the Nokia device they were using, so they know their stuffs.

1. GPS performance compare with the tube (since both using same gps chip, would like to check the N8 gps attenna performance) 2. The camera mod functionality, will capture some b4 and after mod photos/videos see got any "good" result or not.

I tried it before posting. So its confirmed to work. When I switch to wlan only, my browser which is loading in the background stop loading and when I returned to homescreen, its not using data also.
Ovi map is fast. Quick in locking the location. But the downsude of the phone is the browser experince. The ui menu of the browser is really annoying. but scrolling n pinch to zoom is kinda smooth.

coz the original charger only 800mA so for full charge should be 1 and a half hour loh... 800mA+400mA, somewhere there loh as efficientcy is not 100%....

lol...I think the OS just crashed when I try to run vbag Pressed and hold menu button but can't bring up the multitasking window to kill it also..it just randomly jump between vbag, white screen and menu.. Had to force shut down

Why do I need to BUY one when I already HAVE one? Well, if you think that saving RM169 by sacrificing 12 months warranty is a good idea, then it is up to you. Different people have different preference. I rather pay RM169 extra for the reason I've mentioned above.

Gsmarena use G9 battery while im using G7 battery. Both r different. While in nokia ranger events, i have to borrow pyose charger to charge my phone. Sgs was just full b4 i go to kl. Lol.

it involve quite a bit of things.. change the resolution will cause a lot of compatibility issue... 1 way to minimize is do what like IdontK do... 4x the current generation resolution to make it fit nicely...

It looks like 'desktop version' on the bottom of LYN is CLICKABLE but really hard. I have removed sticker on the front screen to see if it helps with the the stock browser 'CLICK' response. Im finding it hard to get the screen to register the 'CLICK'... the keyboard is just fine, just the CLICK.

Yeah, I also notice that last night... Seems like they still need to work on the precision tapping detection... I don have much issue with iPhone now even if I don zoom in, but N8 last night I try, zoom till max also still hard to hit buttons

Can you double confirm something for me? I tried to copy Top Gear mkv file to N8 and everytime I did that explorer crashed. Did you encounter the same problem? I think size wise is just 1gb+ which should not be a problem under FAT32. I tried WMV and AVI which works well but this particular MKV just very stubborn.
I yesterday on the spot transferred Sherlock Holmes into it, file size was 2.4GB or so... no issue wor, showed a few of u last night as well, playback is nice
I have to use mobile version once a while in my n97 before... scrolling left right is not very please in n97....
but in BB.. never use mobile version.. coz scrolling are smooth, pointer are accurate etc....

I need to double confirm when I get home. To be honest, it was the OVI Suite that I downloaded from the internet about 3-4months ago, while still using 5800. It detects the phone okay and transferred WMV/AVI just fine, so I kinda ruled that out. I will update later when I get home... most likely Ovi Suite as it was set as default.
The battery drain is quite severe as well, kinda same like my Legend. Possibly the weakness of ARM11 power management. I charged it last night in off mode for 2.5hrs and only on it this morning at 8am. Now 11am and battery already left like 40% only.

I think N8 as a whole is kinda exceeded my expectation. I did not have much trouble with it except for the BROWSER. I hope Nokia would completely revamp the browser because it could bring the whole experience up a notch or two. The speed of the browser is pretty good, smooth scrolling but severely hampered by the keyboard spacebar bug, non responsive clicks, some rendering error, mobile/desktop view setting, last but not least hopefully they can include fit to screen text.

There is one major design flaw with the N8 that is with the position of the one touch button. Its kinda hard to reach for it in one hand mode, unless you only have half of the grip on the phone.

really the THEMES color is very special the color will change from dark to bright automaticlly..
Not theme related I guess. N8 light sensor seem to be working very well. The screen will dim quite significantly when not being used under direct lighting.
Just try cover the light sensor at the top right and see it dim.
If you wait till the price drops, you will never buy any phones. By the time the price is right for you, there will be other new models to replace.
Take note that if you let go the booking, you will also lose additional 12 months warranty and freebies which I think worth paying for

How did you find the battery?
I think I surf for less than an hours in total (on and off surfing) and it seem like the widgets are sucking the data. It really drain the battery a lot and I have less than 20% now. 8am-12pm with moderate usage and 1hr surfing. I wonder if should be charged for 8hrs for first few times.

LOL. Yup, the browser update surely cant get here fast enough. For those who wants to experience some pseudo-tabbed browsing like me, if you want to force open a new tab, just go to videos- youtube while your browser is running. Alas, a new tab is opened. Kinda PITA but for me, Im in need of tabbed browsing in the stock browser. And so far, its quite good

Okay. This is bad. One of my favourite Symbian app, Mobbler, a Last FM scrobbler refused to work on the N8. It just crashes and unable to play any songs. Sad me is sad

lol, no la, where got just tried spb mobile shell, while the homescreen us really nice is customization is somewhat at par with android, the menu is rather messy, and limited widget... the music player widget also is nit connected to the nokia music player one...dunno how to disable it also..so I straight away delete it
those that are interested in giving it a try can also google it, it's officially out on their website, it's paid app with 7 days trial

they don give free phone in all events though... this is the kick off event hence all of us got n8, I think the next few devices would be limited time preview only

a lot of people criticize about N8 processor thing which is ARM11 680mhz(im one of the people too ) and doubt how this processor can support the HD video playback etc etc.but i would like to say,i kinda agree with Leo said, Symbian 3 successfully simplified the coding and require less processor power.

1.definitely a very good upgrade.Camera,Video recording can catch up even beat half of the current DC offered in the market.OVI maps is brilliant,multimedia is good.USB-OTG and HDMI output are GREAT! 2.GPS and AGPS. 3.Its HDMI output enable u to play HD video while the old TV output just trasmmit VGA. 4.nono.cant change. 5.cannot,your xenon will be burned if u do so.haha

1. if u prefer symbian and use to symbian.. yes.. 2. u mean A-GPS.. yes.. it is.. 3. no.. it use HDMI to output to TV... ur TV need to have HDMI input. 4. casing? slot in cover? N8 is generally bigger.. 5. Xenon is very bright.. but it cannot use for torch....

Most possibly yes. The lens is crucial. No Carl Zeiss and no Autofocus is a huge disadvantage, unless you are the type who takes scenery pics (long focus range). I take mostly macro/close-up shots. N8 for me.

If you are not on any data plan, change your settings of the phone to always ask for connection.
Also, you can put your widgets on homescreen to offline mode.
Another tip: Create a new destination (which is a prioritized list of connections the device will use when searching for network)
Make 1 list/destination: "Free internet" and put only WLAN or free wifi under it. then make another list: "Paid internet" and put your operater network connections under it such as Maxis 3G, Digi internet etc.
Whenever your app or device wants to connect to the internet, it will then ask and you can decide whether to choose "Free internet" or "Paid internet".
It's troublesome, yes, but this phone is designed to work in default to have full network capabilities. Therefore it is highly recommended to get a data plan (unlimited or at least capped after reaching a limit).
Remember, the search function in Ovi Maps needs the network otherwise you can't search.

I initially thought that too. buying the IdontK phone to actually play games but afterall with all the games i have, i never did touch them. Most of the time using whatsapp and online reading forums and stuff. With steam sales nowadays, even harder to play games on the phone. lol

Sure, it's called flash lite 4.0. Playing Youtube videos no problem for me. Simple ads like one in websites also no problem for me. I think that would be enough for use on a Mobile Phone! So why on earth would you integrate a full blown, resource hog implementation of flash in a device running on batteries most of the time?
Unless you need a selling point - like android. 1.6 add some feature. 2.0 add some feature. 2.1 add some feature. 2.2 add flash as feature.
In the interval, HTC says thank you because you buy 4 phones from them.

Then full flash will need a better processor to avoid lagging. WTF, did i say i want to settle on 4.0 forever? At least iPhail 4 has none ok? Improvement is inevitable. If you want improvement, go attend the rangers programme la! Rant rite here and no one can help you, even it is an open discussion.

Put the profile settings widget on home screen then, can change mode easily, no need go into menu, or simply use the power button to change profile to silent.

Zitron and avaxx sales person told me, the sirim sticker can be remove and please stick it on the warranty card and bring your warranty card along when want to claim warranty in the future.
IMO, it's not the same old thing, but ui wise, very similar...as for overall, I think ut us how s60v5 should have been if they done it right... as for now, I would say it's a start and has the potential if getting back to the game, the rest is up to how they update...

I currently am using two devices, my iphone 4 and the n8. One has to go, and currently I am putting both head to head to see which one would be for my long term use.
I consider myself a platform agnostic person, so I don't really have a preference. If anything I have pretty much wrote off android as platform of choice. In the end I would think it would just boil down to what you want to do.
What a great camera phone ever with the 12mega pixel.... Just 1 thing that's make me not go for it and make me consider may times is the Symbian OS............. ........
and 1 thing that's make me go for iPhone is the iOS........

nokia has it own OVI store, u can d/l the free game NFS ...FREE! also many nice games & app, ALL FREE.. of course also got PAID APPs

Android is definitely not something that'd suit everyone especially those without much IT knowledge. I had a friend who was quite interested with it despite my warning, and I already received a few calls for help from her. I would definitely won't recommend Android phone to friends or clients who can't even get familiar with Symbian.

iphone not really perfect indeed. after hack can just get the FREE sw but not FREE usage..like GPS..even android also the same..

I realized that my N8 seems to constantly reconnect to my house wifi and wondered whats the issue since every time it does so, there is like 2kb of data being downloaded. Some guys here have the same issue, right? I believe its due to the phone trying to sync with your mail.
My Solution: Go to mail, change the settings there. Change the retrieve mail frequency to any desirable time. i.e. per hour, per day, etc... Playing around with the settings there would deal with the connectivity issue. Hope this helps.

Lol and how are u gonna educate them? Well for me the reason i never did jb my iPhone is because that i find it too much of a hassle and sometimes the game update also hard. Buying all the games are much easier, just can straight update. But of course i buy those games that are on sales only la. wont pay more than 99 cents. that is for sure
maybe around RM1.3-1.4k since ori set can get for like 1.5k
not necessary. Maybe the price for Ori and Ap differences only around RM100. Because nowadays Nokia original set in very cheap price alr some moer this model is build in battery so it's recommend to buy original set. At least Original Nokia warranty seem more reliable than AP distributor.
The point is people are interested to join the fray to see whats the madness or buzz is it all about. Some are fast learner while some are rather lost.

Alternatively, you can turn off 3G by default, just goto Settings>Connectivity>Settings and change Date use in home network to WLAN only.

About the non responsive clicks in browser, I think the way Nokia code the browser to detect click is a bit different from what I used to have with Legend. There is a lag about 1sec to affirm that its the selection and not some accidental touches. You are more likely to register clicks if you place your finger slightly longer on the links than just a short tap on it like it used to behaved in Android/IOS.
It seems like Nokia browser support GIF... all the emoticons are lively, not like in Android.
I cant remember the names of the Nokia team, Glen and David issit? I wonder if they are reading this? I think Nokia need to fix the double spacebar bug in the stock browser.
