Any audiophile here? Can do a favor and conduct a quick test to test the audio capability? How's the quality compared to previous 5800/N97/etc? I heard the audio chip is the same as 5800, based on iFixit strip photo.
One of the main function i used is for music playback.

Just visited a store with N8 stock, only silver and dark gray. They sell at RM1780, Avaxx 1 yr warranty. But i asked, "Not RM1690??", they hahaha and say RM1700 best price. Comes with free Nokia Spine case, wall plug and car charger. The phone really lovely but no blue color. They say it's childish

pirateguy, may i know where u read that BLUE version is Made in Finland? Now i even more psyched towards it lol. Already got sick with all the typical silver, black and white color. IIRC, there's no Msia BLUE version for firmware under Navifirm which might confirmed it.
And that nokia spine case really useless and ugly. Only good thing bout it is to hide the sirim/warranty seals.

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 16 2010, 09:47 PM) About the 8 hours battery charge,I don't think modern days battery have to do so. As for N900's case, when the light indicator turns from orange to green automatically the battery will stop recharging. No matter how long you left it. Somehow those 8 hours charging tradition got carried to newer generation of batteries, which is not required. Most, if not all, phones come with overcharging circuit. Prove? Phone only get hot when charging and once finished, both phone and adapter doesnt feel hot at all. That's meant the phone doesnt draw any power from charger any more.

QUOTE(BBXiong @ Oct 16 2010, 10:27 PM) anyway i notice right now, clicking on the battery icon anywhere will bring u a mini pop up, that can bring you to connectivity settings, where if u are in the menu in landscape mode, clicking the part that shows the clock will have the same effect.. that feature already on S60v5 if you have incoming new msg, alarm, etc, it's listed there too

QUOTE(AskarPerang @ Oct 16 2010, 11:22 PM) Heard that the battery is non removable? So can't buy extra batteries as spare? Not removable but not accessible without TORX screwdriver. It's secured by a latch with 2 torx screws. So not really swappable while on road

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Oct 17 2010, 09:55 AM) The most unstable part is the browser. Really hate the browser That's the deal breaker for me.... I am using both Opera Mini and Nokia browser and preferred Nokia most of the time. But it frequently OUT OF MEMORY on me. And surfing is one of my main activity on phone, besides music playback. Hope they implement the new webkit browser ASAP.

QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 17 2010, 10:13 AM) u mean the N8 still show u "out of memory"? No, i meant on my current 5800. I didnt try out the browser capability when demo N8 yesterday since no WiFi AP nearby. Does N8 browser crashed or just show OUT OF MEMORY then closed?

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Oct 17 2010, 10:14 AM) Never experience out of memory when surfing the internet using nokia stock browser. Oh, icic. I thought OUT OF MEMORY again on N8's browser . At least that's a good progress on memory management part for S^3. *I really wish someone found method to do CFW on N8 soon. I will grab it that time and do CFW and also dev some Qt apps for personal usage. I can see a lot of potential on N8.

QUOTE(squall_kay @ Oct 17 2010, 10:29 AM) guys, do u think to change from 3GS to N8 is worth? Based on your 3GS ownership, what did you do with it mostly? 1. Gaming (iOS +) 2. Call (N8 +) 3. Texting (iOS + *1) 4. Surfing (iOS) 5. Music/Video (N8 +) 6. Camera/Video camera (N8 +) 7. Hack/mod (N8 + *2) 8. Connectivity (N8 +) *1, due to better on-screen keyboard *2, a tie if you familiar with JBreak but iOS nothing much to play around This post has been edited by toughnut: Oct 17 2010, 10:36 AM

IMHO, to properly judge the battery life,
1. Let the battery goes through few charge cycles - battery only operate optimally once it gone through few charge cycle.
2. Wait for "new toy syndrome" diminished first - when u received a new toys, u will play with it all the time just for the sake of touching it. This kill the battery.

QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 17 2010, 11:40 AM) today "new toy syndrome" can drag u much longer.. coz u constantly checking FB, MSN, etc etc.. ur FB have any update it acknowladge u, automatically u will go n check... That's why i think social network integration into phone is bad move in the first place. It's more intrusive than SMS/phonecall Regarding UMTS/GSM battery consumption, if your area has good 3G/3.5G coverage, battery life wont differ much. In some case, it actually consume less power since you retrieve data faster than EGDE. But overall 3G/3.5G coverage in Msia is Most of the time, 3G/3.5G keep dropping and switching back and forth between EDGE and 3G/3.5G, wasting a lot of juice.

QUOTE(pirateguy @ Oct 17 2010, 11:50 AM) I'm confused about the "3G" status. Does it mean that I'm currently using 3G, or 3G is available that I have the option to use it? If 3G icon shown, it meant your phone currently under 3G connection. For both VOICE and DATA connection. Once you start using DATA connection, sometimes it will drop to EDGE or GPRS if weak signal.
