Usually when a bank approves a housing or hire purchase loan, they offer the customer a credit card that is free of annual fee for the duration of the loan. Not sure about OCBC's policy in this matter, but I'll say your chances of getting the titanium is fairly good biggrin.gif

6/9/2010 Submitted form via fax
21/9/2010 Received call from Credit Processing Team (a sweet voice lady) that my NRIC & cc photocopy were too dark, and was asked for clearer copies. I resubmitted the form via email given by her.
30/9/2010 Called OCBC Automated Self Service and was told application was successful! rclxm9.gif

This is my experience with OCBC smile.gif

4/10/2010 Received card. CL is surprisingly high. I heard many friends here said OCBC stingy on cc CL.

My application for HSBC Visa has been approved since 13th Sept and up to today only I receive the letter regarding my pin no. but it is stated that the CC will be delivered to me in 7 working days separately for security. Why is it so slow? Almost one mth dy (including the working days). Sigh!
*
Me to received pin no and statement last 2 weeks but not yet get cc untill now. So call them and request them to sent to nearby branch but after one week still yet to get notify letter from them. Called them up this morning and they said will get back to me but no. Different bank from you. Any idea if not yet receive cc but received statement, is it we still have to pay the tax first? They said pay first before due date.

Different banks, different policies. Plus it also depends on the petrol station who does the cc posting. Sometimes they wait till a few days for the posting. For MBB, likely the petrol station did the posting on the same day. (I have a friend who showed me how does MBB transactions can be posted on the same day coz he got a MBB cc terminal)

I got a question for everyone who ask the question about the holding period - does it really matter ?
1. Eventually the credit limit will be normalized.
2. The bank will charge the actual amount of petrol pumped into your car. I have never come across any claims that banks charge the users the RM200 instead of the actual amount.
*
CIMB and DA will hold for 8 days. Petronas transaction will post on the same day for CIMB card but the RM200 will be released only on the 8th day.

This issue only matter for credit card user that used most of the limit and only pay for minimum payment and also for debit card user.

RM200 is the maximum amount that can be pump into your car in 1 card swipe. When we use card at petrol kiosk, we dont key in the exact amount, so the terminal just assume we put RM200. In general if you dont want the Rm200 to be put on hold, just go inside and swipe at counter.

I agree with you.
I am not a big spender and hence CL does not matter to me. I just wonder why OCBC treat me so good tongue.gif

Prob u should call back ur agent (if u apply thru branch) or keep pushing the Cust Service ppl to follow up? U should have gotten ur card in 7 working days after u got the pin. For my case they say Sarawak so prob take a bit longer but Cust Service said to me if by this Fri I stil don get it then have to call them dy. U better pay for the tax first in my opinion, to avoid the late payment fee, just in case.

I remember I saw somewhere on interest calculation before but I couldn't find it now.
The recent interest charges I encounter seems a bit different.

Here's the Math question.
Interest rate: 17.5% p.a
Previous balance: RM105
4th: spent RM210
12th: spent RM325
23th: pay bank RM50
29th: pay bank RM500

Due Date: 23th

How much interest the bank should charge on 3th of next month?

Anyone can answer that?

interest rate per month = 17.5%/12 = 1.46%
overdue balance = RM105+RM210+RM325+RM50 = RM690
finance charge = RM690 x 1.46% = RM10.07

For OCBC Titanium, when use it in Singapore is it comparable to paying by cash (currency exchange, admin charges & 1% rebate)? Are we eligible to OCBC promotions/discounts in SG?

Thanks.

Yes ... you will be eligible for the promotions / discounts in SG. The only I can think of you won't have access to is the EPP.
Using credit card will be marginally higher but you'll be rewarded with rebates and you don't have to carry cash around.
