Make it 5 then. An ipod shuffle is better than none.
*
I was hoping for the Mac but end up with the iPod shuffle also (not sure it's 2GB or 4GB). Assuming it costs about RM250 max, so it's like 5% rebate or less for 5k spent. Latest iPod shuffle 2GB only RM179. If spent 2.5k, then it's like 10% rebate. Remember last time they give different guarantee prize for different tier, but this time seems the same.
Like you said "better than none" (I would prefer if they can gimme cash rebate smile.gif but hopefully they don't send me the pink color one.

Ambank has just changed their terms and condition this month to get 20% cash back.
Just pump RM50 (Count in block) during weekends and you will get 20% cash back!
Of course there is always a cap. Max cash rebate is RM30 per month. Then switch to other card lo.

For groceries, spend RM100 and get RM20 rebate! Capped at RM50.

So basically you spend RM400 and get RM80!!! If combine with other cash rebate cards such as OCBC Ti Card, you can get more than a hundred cash rebate easily per month.

Mm...assuming you are spending 1.4k per month (Dining, petrol, groceries, bills) on average, you will get a total of RM130 cash rebate per month. 4 months (until end of 2010) will be RM520 saving!!

So if you are a big spender with 2.4k per month on average, you get a total of RM720 rebate for 4 months!!!
That is almost you can get a new iPod Touch as a Xmas present^_^ None of the rewards points redemption I know can beat this.

Those are not card feature but temporary promotions.
Now is September, just 3 months away from year-end.
What would you do if the bank don't wish to extend the promo?
*
Of course deal is better when you have promotions. From Sept to Dec, that is already Rm320 saving if you spend RM1.6k for petrol and groceries which is consider necessities for me. The rebate is on top of reward points.
If you are new cardholder, it is still worth it.

It's rather complicated. You ought to remember the promotion period, cumulative spending, cumulative cash back, denomination amount, types of spending, etc in order to be fully benefited.
*
That is only if you want to maximize the cash rebate benefit. If you are just using OCBC Ti card, it's hard for you to achieve that target. If you use only OCBC card for petrol and groceries, it will require you to spend 6.4k to achieve RM320 rebate compare to Ambank 1.6k (with rewards points somemore).

RM150,000 is not much, assuming everybody spends RM1000 for petrol and groceries, only 750 people will get the cash back of RM200. I am sure a lot of AMBANK customers will be furious when they get their statement and get nothing.
*
No, it's only capped at RM80 per customer per month. RM30 for petrol, RM50 for groceries. So, it will be either RM80 rebate for 4 months using Ti card (guaranteed) or RM320 rebate (4 months) for using Am card (not guaranteed, only points are guaranteed). But I would think if you use Am card and spend it in the early of the month, you will most probably get it. At other times, you can use the Ti card. So far I do get the rebates for the previous statements even on the last weekend of the month I spent it but that time the T&C is different.

Pavilion... if you are holding a letter in your hand, they already knew whats your purpose there.
But quite disappointed with the Ipod.. the remote is on the earphone. Cant change earphone unless you buy the remote accessory from SG. Im using it with my headamp which allows me to up the volume but cant do anything about the forward/backward control.
*
That's why the latest iPod shuffle is back to the 2nd Gen button design. Once the earphone is broken, u can't use normal earphone which doesn't have the remote control. The original earphone that I saw in authorized shop cost about RM170. I thought the iPod shuffle will be delivered to your doorstep? Need to redeem yourself one ah? But I guess if you redeem it yourself you are allowed to select the color, right?

hahaha, I thought Ti was some card issued by AMBank.

But now I blur with your previous post. OCBC Cash Back Rebate up to December 2010 (4 months) is RM120 max per month until end of year i.e. RM100 for 5% transaction for petrol, groceries, dining and utilities + RM20 for 1% cash rebate for all other types of transactions.

Therefore, OCBC Titanium is better comparing it to AMBank.
*
Yes, the cashback is RM120 but don't forget you are going to spend 2k for petrol, groceries, dining and utilities + another 2k for others to achieve that target.

What I'm trying to point out is through combination, you can get more rebates.
Spending Am card RM400 and Ti card RM1.6k can get RM160 rebate instead of just RM100. But if you are spending that much, maybe RM60 doesn't mean anything. But it's more than enough to cover 1 year GST charges. For 4 months, you will get extra RM240-RM50 = RM190 + 1600 points.

Ok, if one is really that unlucky to get a single rebate for 4 months, he will lost RM80 rebate since he didn't use Ti card. But he will still get 1600 points which will be equals to RM8. Well, depends on how you judge it. RM80 guarantee or RM320+RM8?

Actually not just Ambank, other banks like Public and HSBC have also their own cashback promotions. If you have those cards, you can get even more rebates by spending less. SCB card also has great cashback during signup, the guarantee gift promotion is just over. This bank seems to have a lot of great promotions this year. Waiting for its next promotion.

Of course for non-Promotion periods or most of the transactions, Ti card is so far the best rebate card.

Comparing so many cashback cards, the citi cashback doesn't seem to be that attractive anymore, unless u buy stuff in G-dian/W-sons.

I saw the HSBC on top 25% is everywhere near department stores. If you buy clothes a lot, maybe this is a good card? Somehow I saw it mentioned that you have to buy the stuff between 9pm to 12am to get the cashback yawn.gif
I didn't have that card as they rejected me a few years ago. Well, I don't buy clothes a lot, so I hove forgotten about it (like you said) tongue.gif

To my understanding, AMBank does capped the rebate at RM80 right? So for my case where I do spend a lot for petrol and cannot wait till end of the week, OCBC is more beneficial and I will be getting RM120 cash back instead of RM80.
*
No need to wait, just if u need to pump petrol during weekend, just use that card. For petrol, they capped at RM30 which means you only have to pump RM150 (RM50 in block) to get it.
For me, I only use that card during weekends. For weekdays, Ti card still the best smile.gif

The chance of getting the 25% cash back is so slim that you might as well just forget about it. I was in KL 2 weeks ago and i got absolutely nothing from any of the cash back promotion. Not even the 5% cash back   doh.gif   I purposely bought everything on the first day of the week but still i got nothing.
*
Some banks will credit the rebates to your account after few weeks. Since you said 2 weeks ago, could it be it only credited to your account next month?

I can't recall whether anyone mention it or not but do take note that the 5% rebate of utility/phone bills only applicable if you swipe the card at the merchant. Auto debit and online payment/transactions only entitled you for 1% rebate.

Looks like you have already done it. It only entitled you for 1% rebate. I have verified with the customer service. This is a tricky part. But for TM, TM itself will deduct RM4 for autopay. Depends on how much you spend, almost the same for me either auto debit (RM4 + 1% rebate) or pay through merchant (5%-petrol-parking fees).

Ai...this is not good news for me.
OCBC Ti - 5% rebate on groceries, dining, petrol, bills (Best card so far)
AMEX Gold - 5x points on groceries, books, petrol (2nd best card so far)
EON GSC - Good for watching movies (no need to queue up most of the time)
SCB - Great promotions with guaranteed prize

Err...Ambank for this year only since the current 20% rebate promotion is very good.
Is the 2nd card that is hard to choose sad.gif

Btw, I heard they are currently compiling a list of merchants for groceries and dining. Because dining area where it has other service may not be getting the 5% rebate (need to see your statement whether it is under the correct category), for example dining at ikea still unclear.

so.. moral of the story is.. high CL not necessary good esp if u have multiple card.
*
Maybe they wanna offer you the platinum card since you have high CL?

Somehow they will see whether you have a good repayment history (do you miss any due date before?). They may check the CCRIS if you are holding many cards I guess.

No way in hell he is going to spend 6cc's X 30k = 180k in a month when his salary is just 12k/mth! I really don't see the rationale behind having 6-7 cc's! Anyone care to explain the benefits of owning a ton of plastic?

Different card has different benefits. Too bad there is no All-in-one card in the world. The banks increase your CL so you can spend more and they can earn more.

Maybe in the future there is only one ultimate card which can store all the cc in its chip, and the sales person will ask back "Sir, which card would you like to use?". Damn convenient.

My car is not made of gold, neither platinum. Just kidding.

I think normally if you wanna upgrade, you may need to hold the card for at least 1 year. Of course if you are a good spender and have good record, you no need to ask and they'll upgrade for you automatically.
Since a lot of things in citibank can be done with just a call, you can try the CS as suggested. It will be easier if you meet the above condition. But some banks will require you to fax them back a card upgrade form with your signature. I don't think they will request any income statement from you.

After I re-re-recheck with a few CS, looks like OCBC Ti doesn't seems as good as it is.
Some Auto debit will have a different MCC, so it is not guaranteed that you will get the 5%. Swiping through merchant terminal is 100%. However, according to CS, so far there is no problem with utilities bills via autopay but there are exception. Some online payment may have different MCC.

For petrol station, 5% rebate only applicable for petrol and not purchase made at the corresponding shop/mart.

For groceries, so far only Giant is confirmed. Others like Tesco, Jusco, C4 may consider under departmental store MCC. You may not guaranteed to get rebate from it. The CS told me to try on these shops, and you will know from the next statement.

For dining, only restaurant (most of it) are eligible. But you will not get 5% rebate for cafe like Starbucks, coffee bean and so on.

For those who are getting the first statement this month, do share with us which merchant is entitled for 5%.

All I can say is Good Luck everyone!

As far as I know Maybank requirements are very tight and will not give you very high CL.
I think if you use HSBC Plat to apply, chances are higher.
