Gawdddd i soo hate ASUS now.... tot was a gud replacement for my stock Unifi router.... absolutely piece of crap... RT-N13U ver B1.... before i got this router, scoured thru the web n found KLseet, it made tons of praises for it.. after few months it started to hang.. I can surf but at slow pace... n then my other devices cudnt connect to the router.. after awhile connection just died... tried to go into the webgui but it wudnt let me access it.. had to reboot.  At first i thot it was just the routine once in awhile need to reboot... then it started to get frequent from weekly bcome every other day... now its every 12 hours or so... sometimes i had to reboot immediately after reboot cos still cant access the damn webgui... WTF is wrong ?? I kinda surprised myself for being very patient about this hassle hving to reboot on daily basis.. coz i bought tat router jul 2011... kept hoping for ASUS to come out a patch/solution with the firmware... it really unbearable now..

I've flashed sooo many firmwares til i've lost count... i'm currently on 2.0.2.5g... its still the same... i've done EXACT step by step as per KLseet advised on its webpage... If anyone tried asking if i cud replicate the situation.. I CUD!!! Just leave the damn shitty router on... n it'll just hang... for no freaking reason.. even if it doesnt... its just a matter of time...  and i cud tell u it wont take more than a day. Mind you, i've zeroed in the problem... its the ROUTER... coz i nvr had to reboot my unifi modem.

I read tat sometimes its due to the stability of Unifi connection... Now with everything remains the same... router hangs due to unstable unifi connection... n i dont reboot... will the router b back to normal once the fibre optic line bcome stable? I tried this.... router hangs.. didnt reboot.. just leave it as it is to test my theory... left it overnite.. I still cant access the damn webgui.. SERIOUSLY tis piece of crap u call a router... is FLAWED doh.gif .

devices tat connects to the router..

4 androids
1 TV
1 laptop
1 desktop (LAN)
1 ipad
1 PS3

This thread is over 40pages ... yet still no solution..

Anyway... i'm tired of hving to walk up n down my house to reboot tat piece of crap (i live in a 3 storey house.. router n modem is located on 2nd floor n my gaming laptop is on ground floor) my highest nos. of trips to the router was 5x in a row... I cud afford to smash tat router to smitherin' ... but not til i get a replacement... n it wont b A Soo Useless Shit (ASUS).

As for those current ASUS users with problems like mine .. I really hope for your sake.. they solve the problem soon... For those looking for a router.. STAY AWAY from ASUS. PERIOD... shit company with shit programmers tat cant even rectify a problem started a year ago!!!!!

If any ASUS rep wanna get in touch with me.. pls do so.. but i'm NOT gonna do testing for u... y shud I? U can take back yur piece of CRAP u call router and do all the testing u want.. good effing riddance!!!  PHOOOOOOI!!!! NIAAAAAAMAH!!!! Really pisses me off after reading 40pages of this thread... n why i'm still up at 2.30am??? demmm fking router wifi keeps dropping tats why!!!

BTW.. its my 1st ASUS product.... n soon to b the LAST. Mind u... i might n most probably WILL - tell my frends relatives and acquaintances abt ASUS router.

Good nite.. or rather good morning.  doh.gif

note: I really wished i've kept my receipt in a safe place.. cud hv sent it back to the shop months ago.

Totally agree with you on the problem and also your suggestion to defer buying ASUS RT-N13U till the problem solve for good. ASUSMY should have state the target time (weeks or months) that the problem will be solve and also provide us the final decision if the problem could not rectify by the engineers (problems more than year).

It should be a very simple decision.

Decision A.

ASUSTek Computer Inc. is a Responsible, Reliable and Trustable Corporation that will honor the products it's produce are usable and reliable for normal use. In event of instability of the products ASUS will resolve it and also provide the users a time frame. Upon lapse of the given time frame ASUS should either replacement or trade-in the product in exchange to a usable product.

Decision B.

ASUSTek Computer Inc. will not entertain any users request for replacement or trade-in in event of ASUS products encounter failure due to the clause "Good sold are not returnable".

So ASUSMY, Please indicate ASUSTek Computer's intention to us. On Decision A, we will wait but ASUS need to indicate the time frame (No more infinite period of waiting).

Base on Decision B, We will buy another brand router and remember that ASUS is a very irresponsible, unreliable company to deal with.

i seeing this model RT-N13U everywhere. at large IT stores they stack up like mountains. this router seem to be very very very very very hot selling..
*
Seem like mountains of RT-N13U does not translate that product is very very very very very hot selling. It could be a lot new users aware of the RT-N13U problems and are buying other make then buying ASUS products. This will cause high stockpile at the retail shops. Spoken to some retailer at LowYat, they told me that the stock at the retail shop will be the last batch of order. Too many complain on this ASUS RT-N13U router.

* Knowing the ASUS RT-N13U router are very unstable for use with Unifi, ASUS should temporary STOP selling the product at the retail shop until the router's problem been resolve.

Please do not VICTIMIZE the buyers.

Hi Guys, especially zapster,
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it and though i have repeated myself for quite a few times, we are still trying our best to rectify this issue. Perhaps it's really too much to ask for end-user to help us but we are glad that there are some coming forward offering help. So here is the update. We have acquire the debug tool any i'm going to pass it to prasys hopefully by tonight.

Feedback Session with ASUS Engineer from HQ
We would like to take this opportunity to organize a feedback session with our Engineer coming all the way from Taiwan. The reason we still need some on-ground feedback is that there's no UniFi in Taiwan. Therefore such feedback would give our Engineer a better picture of the issue. For those who are interested to help us, and come to this Feedback Session, kindly fill in the list below. Only limited to 10 participants.

Damn...K firmware crashed after 14 days. ASUSMY even if you don't want to replace my less than one year router at least can you give a special discount for other ASUS models. I need a reliable router because I access from outside and got no one to reboot if I am away.

Hi zapster,
Once again, thanks for your respond. I personally appreciate it. Browsing through this thread starting from page 20, just to refresh my memory and it seems that most (or almost all) users here is using N13 with UniFi. Since i'm just a rep for ASUS Malaysia, i guess my focus is mainly with the local issues.

Hi STC,
Really appreciate your patience with us. I'll try to get back to on this you asap.

I think it was REALLY REALLY "nice" that ASUS organise a feedback session right here in KL... how many other vendors (local and overseas) actually care about customer feedback or customer satisfaction on their products...

All products these days have bugs.... live with it...

thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Zapster... You should have done your research on which router model before you make the purchase... even the TM version of the Dlink DIR-615 router is a lousy piece of crap with lots of software bugs... did you make such BIG complain to both TM or Dlink yet ?? Any feedback session from TM or Dlink to hear your problems ??

Stan,
For your information, Dell sent me a laptop replacement about 8 years back and it cost around MYR 4,800 back then, just because it has mould problem. This is what i call good customer service. So WHATS the FUSS with ASUS?

But Dell's products deteriorate as time passes and now i am using ASUS N53SV laptop which i have no complain.

But, these N13U really wasted my time because i bought quite a few for my customers and all my customers complained. They hang and hang and hang until the total network could not be pinged. Even a person bring in the smartphone and log on to the wifi hangs the router. They are so crapped which i replaced them with TP-Link d.

Never understand what is ASUS doing for the router division. TP-Link is really fast. They bring in a China guy who can't even speak good English but managed to solve all firmware issues for me.

Hi toh2020, Whomever bought this particular router are innocent victim due to not knowing Asus RT-N13U does not work well with unifi. No one in a right mind will buy a product knowing that the purchase item will not function as it should be. Peoples purchases ASUS due it is consider a "branded" products, if compare with other make this unit cost most then double in term of dollar and cents yet it is so unstable.

You do not seem to believe that the router have encounter issues with your Good, Good statement. So how do you justify your statement of "Good Price", "Good Sales" and "Bring more stocks to sell" means the product is flawless?
I suggest to you to replace your present router to RT-N13U.

Seen through your own eyes means "Another innocent buyer being victimize. You should have at least approach the buyer to inform them of the problem on RT-N13U. If they believe or either like ASUS brand, you should have advise them to by others ASUS model that does not have problems.

ASUSMY you should have advice your ASUS management to temporary cease selling it at the market. Continue to flood the market with this defective item is consider DUMPING and also belittle your royal customers!

to tell you frankly when i was buying router. the salesman told me RT-13U was best modem. they challenge me to compare the price with other retailer. they told me got few units only. if you come back all sold out. i thought it was a marketting gimmick or whatever. after noting the price same compare others. when i go to other shops oh how come they had stacks of these models. where many other ppl are buying like hotcakes. then after doing some survey. i got myself Asus RT-N66U. practically a rock solid performance router. that solve your prob if u living in terance semi d or bangalow. the coverage signal was spectacular. however there is a little bug with the on/off switch on router itself. where intermittently can power on then shutdown. that's all my experience but it won't affect my work so far very solid router. once you switch it on leave it for weeks its ok. only notable when switch off the mains to ac adaptor. power it up flip the router switch 2 or 3 times you are good to go.

I notice that I've flashed to the beta firmware 9.x.xl doesn't cost any hang issues currently.

However, do mind that I have disabled a lot of services, including Virtual Server, Wi-fi and also QoS.

It seems to me the router hangs much more frequent if either of the services above is running. Maybe you guys should check over there.

Just a short teaser on the upcoming plan for Lowyat.NET users who had problem with RT-N13U. Looks like the feedback session may not be taking place, therefore an "announcement" here. The debug tool we have is actually a tool to capture an error log file of the RT-N13U. So this tool need to be switched on for a long period for random freeze/hang cases. Whoever who are facing problem with RT-N13U will be provided this tool to generate the log file. Then our engineer will produce a specific firmware in reference to your error log file just for your usage. So this will be one-on-one basis solution.

Sorry ASUSMY, I didn't see all those messages before my last posting. I cant make it tomorrow. RAYA holidays mah. I still suspect it could be some sort of conflict or hardware issue. The other thing occurs to me is could the router blocking all connecting too prevent unauthorized access. In the 15 trouble free days I noticed my log generated some miniupnpd connection failed every two minutes which is not from any of my devices.

Guys, hope you help me here

Im using Unifi with Asus RT N56u as my router and RT N12 as my repeater (wirelessly). The problem is that if i connect to my n12 wirelessly, im unable to browse any website. I get time out when i ping any internet sites. But if i ping my router, no problem. If i connect to my router directly, i can ping any internet sites no problem also.

The thing is when I use the latest firmware, it would work for a couple of days, then somwhow cannot after a few days and it will work if i connect via wire to my repeater, and eventually nothing works either wireless or wire. If i reflash the firmware also cannot. Then i downgrade the firmware and it will work for awhile and then fail again. It's kind of weird i think. Any idea if i can see if the N56 is blocking anything? I check that mac filter is disabled. So any idea what is going on? any suggestions?

Anybody using Rtn56 and another wireless repeater successfuly before? Please help. Thank you

Added on March 22, 2012, 1:57 pmOh ya, btw, i emailed asus support and they took a few days to get back to me. Really useless support. The gave me the standard guide to configure the wireless repeater which i have already configured. When i reply back again they never come back to me. How can i bring this issue to asus? Thanks

Hi. Since we have a asus rep here, I'm still facing this problem after you guys replaced me with a new n56u unit. I suppose you guys might not have tested the issue I face? Anyway, can you please help me follow up on a ticket I logged in to asus support pls. This is the ticket number 7203943. Thank you.

I think probably ASUSMY should just fuse some changes whatever is done into DD-WRT (since its open source anyway) into RT13-U , create some sort of custom firmware. I think probably your engineers should take a look at it and see what causes DD-WRT to be stable on RT13-U (which needed to be patched to support VLAN 100 and above)

Anyway I bought 56U , and flashed it to custom firmware (sorry but stock firmware is all wonky and slow and lacks of control that I demand from a router). Thats my recommendation to people buying routers , see if it has 3rd party firmware , and just flash it - chances are it would be much more better as its optimized and it includes heaps of changes

Yes, maybe create a custom DD-WRT that can support VLAN 100 and above for all of us, that will be so great smile.gif

1st n foremost.. i'm glad to hear frm a vendor's point of view. Thanks very much to andychucky... Yur input has vindicated our claims tat RT-N13U sucks.

And to Prasys, I'll heed yur advice on using DD-WRT since ASUS not gonna do much for us.

Lastly.. Selamat Aidil Fitri to all my muslim bros n sistas and i pray for all a safe journey back kampung.

Anyway... i'm tired of hving to walk up n down my house to reboot tat piece of crap (i live in a 3 storey house.. router n modem is located on 2nd floor n my gaming laptop is on ground floor) my highest nos. of trips to the router was 5x in a row...
