Gawdddd i soo hate ASUS now.... tot was a gud replacement for my stock Unifi router.... absolutely piece of crap... RT-N13U ver B1.... before i got this router, scoured thru the web n found KLseet, it made tons of praises for it.. after few months it started to hang.. I can surf but at slow pace... n then my other devices cudnt connect to the router.. after awhile connection just died... tried to go into the webgui but it wudnt let me access it.. had to reboot. At first i thot it was just the routine once in awhile need to reboot... then it started to get frequent from weekly bcome every other day... now its every 12 hours or so... sometimes i had to reboot immediately after reboot cos still cant access the damn webgui... WTF is wrong ?? I kinda surprised myself for being very patient about this hassle hving to reboot on daily basis.. coz i bought tat router jul 2011... kept hoping for ASUS to come out a patch/solution with the firmware... it really unbearable now..

I've flashed sooo many firmwares til i've lost count... i'm currently on 2.0.2.5g... its still the same... i've done EXACT step by step as per KLseet advised on its webpage... If anyone tried asking if i cud replicate the situation.. I CUD!!! Just leave the damn shitty router on... n it'll just hang... for no freaking reason.. even if it doesnt... its just a matter of time... and i cud tell u it wont take more than a day. Mind you, i've zeroed in the problem... its the ROUTER... coz i nvr had to reboot my unifi modem.

I read tat sometimes its due to the stability of Unifi connection... Now with everything remains the same... router hangs due to unstable unifi connection... n i dont reboot... will the router b back to normal once the fibre optic line bcome stable? I tried this.... router hangs.. didnt reboot.. just leave it as it is to test my theory... left it overnite.. I still cant access the damn webgui.. SERIOUSLY tis piece of crap u call a router... is FLAWED doh.gif .

devices tat connects to the router..

4 androids
1 TV
1 laptop
1 desktop (LAN)
1 ipad
1 PS3

This thread is over 40pages ... yet still no solution..

Anyway... i'm tired of hving to walk up n down my house to reboot tat piece of crap (i live in a 3 storey house.. router n modem is located on 2nd floor n my gaming laptop is on ground floor) my highest nos. of trips to the router was 5x in a row... I cud afford to smash tat router to smitherin' ... but not til i get a replacement... n it wont b A Soo Useless Shit (ASUS).

As for those current ASUS users with problems like mine .. I really hope for your sake.. they solve the problem soon... For those looking for a router.. STAY AWAY from ASUS. PERIOD... shit company with shit programmers tat cant even rectify a problem started a year ago!!!!!

If any ASUS rep wanna get in touch with me.. pls do so.. but i'm NOT gonna do testing for u... y shud I? U can take back yur piece of CRAP u call router and do all the testing u want.. good effing riddance!!! PHOOOOOOI!!!! NIAAAAAAMAH!!!! Really pisses me off after reading 40pages of this thread... n why i'm still up at 2.30am??? demmm fking router wifi keeps dropping tats why!!!

BTW.. its my 1st ASUS product.... n soon to b the LAST. Mind u... i might n most probably WILL - tell my frends relatives and acquaintances abt ASUS router.

Good nite.. or rather good morning. doh.gif

note: I really wished i've kept my receipt in a safe place.. cud hv sent it back to the shop months ago.

Hi Guys, especially zapster,
Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it and though i have repeated myself for quite a few times, we are still trying our best to rectify this issue. Perhaps it's really too much to ask for end-user to help us but we are glad that there are some coming forward offering help. So here is the update. We have acquire the debug tool any i'm going to pass it to prasys hopefully by tonight.

Feedback Session with ASUS Engineer from HQ
We would like to take this opportunity to organize a feedback session with our Engineer coming all the way from Taiwan. The reason we still need some on-ground feedback is that there's no UniFi in Taiwan. Therefore such feedback would give our Engineer a better picture of the issue. For those who are interested to help us, and come to this Feedback Session, kindly fill in the list below. Only limited to 10 participants.

Feedback Session with ASUS Engineer
Venue: Zouk Cafe, The Gardens
Time: 6PM - 8PM
Date: 16th August, 2012

Whn i said "SHIT co. with SHIT programmers..." I MEANT EVERY WORD of it n now i'll add another... Reps with SHIT for brains.. Yeah i said it... SHIT for brains when u said "theres no UNIFI in Taiwan"... U totally missed the point... there r over 40 pages here stating problems with yur piece of CRAP RT-N13U ver B1 router... over 40pages and NOBODY complaining abt UNIFI.. Hv u ACTUALLY read or UNDERSTOOD any of the post/problem here??? Are u a RETARD???doh.gif

N what makes u think this problem only confined to UNIFI / Malaysia?? Mind u its not only WE in Malaysia hving problem with yur shitty router.. a simple google for "asus rt-n13u wifi drop" will get u a few hits.

http://archive.slickdeals.net/f/1926466-DE...ce-is-now-32-AR

Shit Co. with Shit Programmers n Shit for brains Reps are not interested in solving this problem ... heck its already more than 2yrs.. what makes u think they're gonna solve it? They'll probably end 13U's production b4 they do anything at all..

Forummers... dont waste time with this Rep n his 'limited to 10 participants'... Yur time will b better off spent complaining to Consumer Tribunal with just RM5.00 or better still... lodge yur complains online.

just lodge it n get yur refund n hopefully ask for compensation... i'm lodging rite after this..

I think probably ASUSMY should just fuse some changes whatever is done into DD-WRT (since its open source anyway) into RT13-U , create some sort of custom firmware. I think probably your engineers should take a look at it and see what causes DD-WRT to be stable on RT13-U (which needed to be patched to support VLAN 100 and above)

Anyway I bought 56U , and flashed it to custom firmware (sorry but stock firmware is all wonky and slow and lacks of control that I demand from a router). Thats my recommendation to people buying routers , see if it has 3rd party firmware , and just flash it - chances are it would be much more better as its optimized and it includes heaps of changes

1st n foremost.. i'm glad to hear frm a vendor's point of view. Thanks very much to andychucky... Yur input has vindicated our claims tat RT-N13U sucks.

And to Prasys, I'll heed yur advice on using DD-WRT since ASUS not gonna do much for us.

Lastly.. Selamat Aidil Fitri to all my muslim bros n sistas and i pray for all a safe journey back kampung.

Wah, read past few pages, seem to see lots of N13 users have big problem with stock firmware ....

I remembered around end of last year I received quite some emails & PMs on the N13 stock firmware, so I did some testings, my last 2 testings (on my HG850a) was:
FW8.22.2.3
FW2.0.2.5g

Generally I'll test at least 2~5 days, but I did not encounter such frequent daily dc/hang situation.
After that I don't really test or play with the N13 anymore.

I remember normally this is how I flash & setup the N13 stock firmware:
- only connect 1 cable to N13's LANport, NO wifi NO WAN connection
- Restore Factory default both before & after flashing
- always use Firmware Restoration procedure (I do notice the N13 will become unstable later if flashing too frequently using webgui)
- always setup manually, never use the CD or wizard
- on WAN setup, ensure to disable the UPnP
- on LAN setup, change the default IP (say to 192.168.0.1)
- on DHCP, put smaller range (say 192.168.0.101~199), ALWAYS enter the Default Gateway IP (say 192.168.0.1)

On WiFi:
- use Auto mode
- diable the WPS
- enter a channel number (eg, 6 or 11)
- use 20Mhz only
- use auto WPA/WPA2 with TKIP+AES
- don't use TX-burst
(Important: once setup the wifi, try not to mess around or even visit the webgui page again)

On the QoS/EzQoS: DON'T use it! DON'T even touch it or visit the QoS webgui page!!!!

Except for the ASUSWRT, I noticed most stock ASUS (the one with green colour & the rather annoying small doctor) the QoS just won't work properly, it can cause the router to become unstable or become kuku ....

And once the setup is done, except going to the use PortFoward, try not to login the webgui too often.

So this is generally how I setup the N13 up to those last few FW mentioned earlier.  In fact this is 1 of the toys which I've tested quite a lot of FWs & feedback to ASUS engineer team.  I'm not sure what's the latest development as I have already flashed my N13 to dd-wrt with Transmission as download device only.

Oh btw, just to clarify, I DON'T work for or represent ASUS, those testings I've done is genuine result with print-screen, I have no intention to hide anything here, so please be gentle with me ya!  sweat.gif

Anywhere, I'll try to find some time and might test the latest N13 FW later ....

Meanwhile, for those who have problem with the N13 may consider the dd-wrt option which I've posted above.  smile.gif
To ASUS team or representatives who are reading this, seeing so many complaints here and potential RG market, honestly I would suggest ASUS Malaysia to seriously consider applying dedicated UniFi/Maxis/P1 (or any up-coming) lines to test those routers thoroughly on varous providers/equipments/vlans.

I believe this is the least a reputable & responsible manufacturer can do to maintain it's reputation continously.  nod.gif
Everyone have a nice weekend and enjoy the up-coming Hari Raya holiday, cheers !  icon_rolleyes.gif

Waaa lannnnnn eh!!!! Sooooo many pantang larangs just to flash 1 shitty router.. Really not worth the hassle... Next thing we r told to see if got anak bulan n all the planets in our solar system must align thn only can flash... Must i wear my undies inside out just to buang suay? 1 word - POOOOODAH!!!!!

Nvr hv i come across soooo many precautions whn it comes to flashing anything.. EPIC fail...

Seriously y give us soooo many options/features in the router whn it gonna make it unstable?? Think abt it? Dont use QOS dont even open it... Dont use 40mhz.. Disable WPS.. Dont do use this/tat.. Disable this/tat..
3 words... WTF????!!!

'nuff said.

Thnks anyway Klseet.. Appreciate it.

where is the solution for the N13U ? How long more do the users of your product have to wait ASUSmy ? Please update us periodically on the progress at least... Never have i seen a company dealt with such an issue so slowly.
QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Nov 7 2012, 06:50 PM)
Hi 3shen, sorry for the long waiting. We have provided the information needed to our RD already and they trying to get a solution for the Hang problem. We will get back to you all ASAP.

Thank you

Seriously WTF.... you mean these problems still not solved???????? And my complains here (page 41 aug 13) almost 3 mths ago!!! And these problems were logged wayyyyyy longer than 3mths. What in the world is ASUSmy been doing here??? Oh i know.....

1. handed some logging tool for Prasys to check on 13U
2. excuses and deflections saying Asus programmers / RD are on top of it .. get back ASAP
3. compiling problems.
4. excuses and more deflections.
5. wud gladly help those, other than 13U users and happily skip 13U queries and hope nobody notices it.
6. repeat point 2-5 til 13U users gives up.

Sighhhh I've since moved on... i'm just here to get updated wots happening on those threads i posted before.

Sell, replace, donate, burn, bash it up, give/throw away yur 13U and move on. Tell yur frends / relatives to avoid ASUS, trust me, u'll b happier. ASUS only interested in helping those who buys their top end products. This is at least a year old problem. If they cant solve then, I doubt very much they can solve it now. Afterall this 13U probably running into its last year or so b4 they pull it out of production.

Hate to say this guys, but we got SCREWED.

Meantime, excuses and deflections will go on n on n on... tats all u gonna get frm ASUSmy.
