For heavy downloader the price is a little steep as there is no unlimited data packages...

At least with 3G there is a Max cap imposed my MCMC at RM250...
although you exceed you only pay RM250...

wonder is that applicable to YES

QUOTE(miskin @ Nov 23 2010, 07:08 PM)
1) If they remove the "must use min RM30 every month/month" (MUR) then i will consider Yes
2) If they don't deduct my balance if i don't use min RM30/month, then i will consider Yes

- You see, if i bought the device, let say i bought it at 1/12/2010, i paid for RM99 (usb) + RM50 = RM149
- Then i topup RM30, download alot of stuff to utilize my RM30 in a month... now my balance = RM0
- Okay finish 1 month already, now i enter 1/1/2011
- I receive RM10 (remember the RM10 x 10 month if you buy usb dongle), so in my account got balance RM10
- I dont use YES anymore, because i dont have money la, i bankrup la, i dont work no money la, bla bla bla
- until March 2011, suddenly i menang nombor, not much RM100 only, then i topup RM100 to use YES
- Then check balance = RM10 , this is the balance i can use after i topup RM100
- THen i say WTF ???
- THen i say,, fakit laaa... dont want to use it for 100 days,
- Then, when after 100 days dont use YES, i want to use it lah, and want to topup.
- Then, YES say "Sorry sir, you account has been de-activated because of has been not active for 90 days, if you want to re-activate you account, please pay for the activation fee, RM50. You can still use your old number or a new number sir"
- THen i say, WTF x 2

vmad.gif

THis is because i dont use yes for 2 months, means i hutang sama YES RM60, the the latest topup after 2 months is :

RM100 (menang toto RM100) - RM60 (2 bulan tak pakai YES) - RM30 (RM10 x 3 month)  = RM10
So, for those yang sudah pakai YES, speed was goooood, but REMEMBER, please MAINTAIN/TOPUP RM30 every month  thumbup.gif
If not you will say WTF later .... believe me  smile.gif
IF .. IF .. IF YES remove the 2 items above, i will consider to use YES ... just for my backup internet
*
i have no idea how the min RM30 will work either.
i just assume, we're only need to have min RM30 credit in order for the account to be active?

when i bought the dongle, i don't top up at all and i still can use it, only last night it redirect me to reload page. i have no idea why, so i assume my RM10 preloaded already ran out.

for the time being it's a guessing game for YES users since we're still can't login into the portal to check our account usage etc. laugh.gif

I do think YES only transit towards international exchange and route back to local.

Not a good choice for gamers smile.gif

I did a plethora of speedtests on Speedtest.net, while on YTL ERL train to KLIA. Speed ranges from 1.96Mbps to 7Mbps, all the while the ERL train was traveling at top speed. Looks like they kept their word on this claim.

Screenshots of these speedtests are in my Twitter feed. The fastest I got was while approaching Putrajaya/Cyberjaya station and Salak Tinggi, ranging from 5- to 7Mbps. I'm using a Huddle by the way.

Added on November 23, 2010, 11:27 pmAs for balance checks, I did that as well before boarding the ERL train at KL Sentral, at their Yes Store on the Departure side. They've acknowledges the difficulty on accessing the YES ID portal, but I was given a statement that the YES ID portal for account checking will be up and running in 48 hours. Whether this claim would be fulfilled remains to be seen.

I still have RM98 in my account, topup was RM100. Which seems accurate since all I did was only speedtests and one singular iTunes AppStore download sized at 31Mb on my iPhone.

ehh... how to register for a number? Nothing on their website points to registration
*
before the launch (19 Nov) they have a 'pre-registration' page.
after the launch they already removed the 'pre-registration' page.
now, i guess you need to click the "By Yes online now" or go to any IT store that sale YES device.
and i heard that for those who 'pre-registration' before the launch, they got RM50 registration fee waiver. (correct me of i am wrong)

The lack of local peering would explain why they are performing so poorly with speedtest.net's Malaysian test servers.

Nope! You got to reload fresh RM30 regardless of how much credit remains in your account just like your favourite mobile operator.

In all fairness, YTL's YES speeds are very good as a "mobile" user already.
Kudos to them.

But for the really serious non-mobility (fixed) access. Do consider these:

For 4G, the fix location internet access can reach 1G. But this is the fastest speed I have seen in Malaysia (for consumer)

1G = 128MB/s

Local peering is actually already in place. The issue is that they are currently reannouncing their BGP routes causing some of the routes to go haywire before being picked up. Should be better in a couple of days...
